| Five Barcelona Players Test Positive For Coronavirus Disease Posted: 04 Jun 2020 01:00 AM PDT  Five Barcelona players have reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.According to Catalan radio station RAC1, this development comes as Barcelona get ready to return to action on June 13.The five players who tested positive for the virus were not mentioned but it is understood they initially contracted the disease back when the first wave of the pandemic hit.Reports say that neither of the five players exhibited any symptoms and were only made aware to the fact they had the disease once they underwent tests.Two members of staff are also believed to have tested positive for coronavirus but the La Liga Giants felt it was necessary for La Liga to make that information public, reports AS. Barcelona showed concern that the five players who suffered from coronavirus will be more prone to injury, however they are all believed to be back in training. RAC1's claims have since been backed up by Spanish football programme El Chiringuito de Jugones. La Liga restarts with the Andalusian derby on June 11 before the Catalans take on Real Mallorca two days later. They have a two-point lead over Real Madrid in second despite losing to Los Blancos shortly before lockdown. Spain has been one of the worst hit nations by the global pandemic recording about 240,000 confirmed cases and over 27,000 deaths.  |
| Chinedu Ikedieze 'Aki' reveals Why He’ll Be Forever Grateful To Ex-President, Goodluck Posted: 04 Jun 2020 12:30 AM PDT  Popular Nigerian comic actor, Chinedu Ikedieze alias Aki, has revealed why he will forever remain grateful to ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan.The thespian made this known in a recent interview he had with The Nation Newspaper.According to him, he noted that he will forever remain grateful to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan for honouring him with a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).Aki said the revered national honour which was conferred on him in 2011 has been the greatest surprise he got in his life and career till date.Narrating how it all happened and how he felt, he said; "It was Aunty Peace Anyiam-Anyiam-Osigwe, the Chief Executive of the AFRICA MOVIE ACADEMY AWARDS (AMAA) who called me that time, sometime in 2010 and told me that I should send my profile and other materials. "There was a time she mentioned about the national award but my brother, that was the least thing I expected to consume. At that time I was like how much are my going to be getting from them to my little understanding then. I didn't pay much attention to it but I submitted the information she required. "About some months later, somebody called me that I should go and check one of the national dailies that my name was shortlisted for the national award honors, and I was like how, to be honest I had forgotten that I submitted my credentials. "I ran quickly to go and get myself a copy of the paper and opened the page and I saw my name, I was no 144 on the category of member of the federal republic, I couldn't believe it. "I will be forever grateful to Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for remembering us for the little things that we do, that we were able to change the narrative in the entertainment industry, it was bigger than I could chew. "I am so grateful and remain forever grateful for his gesture." On when he realized he achieved fame, the actor and businessman said it was when he made his first million in the year 2003. In his words; "I couldn't believe it, I knew that wow this happened, I am sorry I have to be honest I said okay so I have been doing something". It could be recalled that in 2007, Aki received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the African Movie Academy Awards and subsequently in 2011, he was awarded the MFR for his immense contributions to Nollywood and to the economic growth of the country. | Singer, Teni condems Police brutality and harrasment in Nigeria Posted: 04 Jun 2020 12:00 AM PDT  Nigerian female songwriter and singer Teniola Apata has fired Nigerian police over the recent happenings in the country.Citizens of Nigeria have been on fire for some days now after occurrences of rape cases and murder cases rapidly increased in the past few days. A young lady was recently raped by 11 men. A 16 year old student was also murdered by the police while a 22-year old student who went to study in a church was raped and murdered in the church premises.These current occurrences in the country have spark some anger in most of the citizens, according blame to the Nigerian Police. Most celebrities staged a blackout yesterday, an indication to seek justice for the victims.Teni has however, taken to her Twitter to fire the Nigerian police for harassing harmless young citizens but are scared to arrest armed robbers.She tweeted…." "A particular celebrity raped my friend and he has the right to post justices for the ladies how you have the courage to post about rape is what baffles me.In another post, he called out D'Banj for rapping his friend in 2018 after an event. According to him, D'banj had offered his friend N200K to sleep with him after sighting her at an event but she refused. He then sneaked into her room, had his way with her and left her depressed to the extent that she was going to commit suicide.Quick story time—On the 30th of December 2018 at eko Atlantic an event called splash off which was an all white party,franklin your manager then invited my friend to the party,On getting there Dbanj sighted her and sent few people to talk to her but she refused.My friend left the party and went to glee hotel in Vi where she was lodged by her friend franklin cos my friend couldn't go back to the mainland that day. The former five-division world champion's promotional company, Mayweather Promotions, has confirmed on Twitter he had made the offer, and several local media reports have said the family have accepted. According to Hollywood Unlocked, the family plans to hold funeral services in different locations, including Houston, Floyd's hometown, Charlotte, and Minneapolis. Although, a GoFundMe campaign created by Floyd's brother, Philonise Floyd, for his memorial has received more than 290,000 donations amounting to $7,583,670, as of Monday evening, June 1, 2020. | Reggae star, Majek Fashek’s death revealed Posted: 03 Jun 2020 03:00 AM PDT  The cause of Nigerian music icon, Majekodunmi Fasheke, professionally known as Majek Fashek's death has now been revealed.Vanguard News reported that the legendary singer died after battling with cancer for almost a year.His manager revealed he died at 11.45 pm yesterday, June 1, 2020, Nigerian time.He also noted the singer died in New York, not in London where he was previously receiving treatment. According to Uzoma the doctors advised he should be moved close to his family, which is the main reason he was relocated to New York where his wife and three sons live. He also said Majek was separated from his family for 10 years until last year September when they were reunited on the advice of his doctors that he should be close to his family. "We moved him from London to New York last September on the advice of the doctors that he should stay close to the family. Majek reunited with his family last year after 10 years of separation. He died in their company, " Uzoma said. Nigerian music legend, Majek Fashek, born March 7, 1963, was 57-year-old when he passed on. Uzoma however said details of his funeral arrangement will be communicated in due time.  |
