Lady narrates how became Obasanjo's PA after taking advantage of a meeting with him

Posted: 14 Aug 2020 11:30 PM PDT

A Nigerian lady, Aminat Sule, has recounted how she took advantage of a meeting with former president Olusegun Obasanjo, and appointed herself his Personal Assistant.

Aminat narrated how she strategically positioned herself at an event in Chatham House, London, where the ex-president was one of the panelists.

According to her, after his session, she went to him and made sure she helped with clearing people from him and finally got a private time to talk to him. Read her story below…

"Short Thread: about how I met Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and became his self appointed PA.

I set a goal for myself to become the youngest first female foreign affairs minister for Nigeria. For someone who was born in the UK. It sounded quite radical right?

Due to a lack of funding, my show could no longer be aired on National TV

Shortly after this happened I was told by a learned colleague
@dayo247
about an event hosted by
@ChathamHouse
called "Re-Writing Politics to Africa's Advantage." President Obasanjo was one of the panelists.

I was determined to serve one of the greatest leaders in Africa. So I positioned myself front row. I sat in the seat reserved for a

@thesundaytimes
journalist – my apologies your correspondent arrived late.

I made eye contact with Mr Olusegun the entire event. From start to finish. Once the event was over. Guests and fellow panelists wanted to take pictures and engage with Pres. Obasanjo

I stormed onto the stage and said, excuse me: "No more pictures! Can we get him into a private room, with a glass of water? In 10 minutes he'll resume to discuss matters and entertain the press."

He followed me & when we got into the room he asked: "Who's daughter are you?"

I responded "My father isn't anyone you know. He's Just a normal Nigerian citizen who relocated to the UK for a better life."

He chuckled and said "so how can I help you?"

I said "well I'm your new PA. I'm going to serve you."

I've been serving him since that date.

Moral of the story: Opportunities don't always come to you. Sometimes you have to create your own opportunities."

Former BBNaija season 4 housemate, Ike Onyema has revealed that he was richer even before attending the reality TV show.

It all began when the reality star posted photos of himself on Instagram after sealing a partnership deal with Nigerian liquor brand, Remmy Martin.

A fan @MarkTrager5 then took to his comment section and said he should better thank God for the BBNaija-gotten fame, else he would have been a broke gangster either in the US or in Nigeria.

Replying the subtle shade, Ike revealed that he was way richer even before becoming a BBNaija contestant. "Boy before bbn my account was fatter", he schooled the uninformed fan.

He went ahead to also let the fan know that fame comes with a price.

In his words…. "Boy before BBN my account was larger. Fame no be cheap oh".

Billionaire secrets revealed

Posted: 14 Aug 2020 12:29 PM PDT

Below is a collection of quotes from @Billionaire Secrets that are worth pondering over.

Read and take action.......

When you focus too much on what didn't work out, you become an expert on what didn't work out. Focus on what you want to see happen.

There is no limit to how far you can go as long as you keep learning and don't stop.

What book are you reading now?

Small things lead to big things.

Commitment means doing the thing you said you were going to do even after excitement and enthusiasm has faded. You keep going. No matter what.

You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them.
billionaire_secrets

Nothing in life has meaning in itself. Except the meaning you choose to give it.

There is no such thing as permanent failure. Just giving up too soon.

Don't wait for a vision to fall into your lap. Create a vision. Make it crystal clear. That's the first step to get there.

It's okay to get discouraged when things don't work out.  It's okay to wallow in self-pity. But only for one minute. Then snap out of it and get back on your thing. All results, good and bad, contain lessons.

We can't do much about yesterday. But today is yours. Start. Now.

If you want to know what will happen to you in the future, look at what your mind is doing now.

Before you can lead others, lead yourself.

Clear your mind before making important decisions.

What is impossible becomes possible when broken down into a series of small tasks.

Don't blame. Blaming means you are passing responsibility for your life to someone else. Take 100% responsibility for your success.

You can't control the world. But you can control yourself. That's all you need to succeed.

It's never too late. As long as you are alive, you have it in you. Start. Now.

There is magic in the printed word. If you are not reading, you are not succeeding.

To perform like a champion, learn to think like one.

Take responsibility for your life.

“The Rock” emerges highest paid actor after making $87.5m (₦33.2 billion) in a year

Posted: 14 Aug 2020 05:30 AM PDT

Wealth magazine, Forbes has named Dwayne Johnson alias "The Rock" as the highest-paid male actor for a second year in a row after making $87.5m (₦33.2 billion) in a year.

The former wrestler reportedly earned $87.5m (£67m) between 1 June 2019 and 1 June 2020, including $23.5m for the Netflix thriller Red Notice.

Forbes reports that he also made money from his fitness clothing line, Project Rock.

The 10 top earners combined made $545.5m this year – more than a quarter of that from Netflix, Forbes said.

Johnson's Red Notice co-star Ryan Reynolds was the second-highest paid actor, with earnings of $71.5m. Among his movie deals were $20m, also for Red Notice, and $20m for Six Underground, another Netflix film.

Third on the list was actor and producer Mark Wahlberg, who earned $58m, while Ben Affleck came in fourth and Vin Diesel fifth.

Indian actor Akshay Kumar was the only Bollywood star in the top 10. He came in sixth place with earnings of $48.5m, which Forbes said mostly came from product endorsement deals.

Also on the list were Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, actors Will Smith and Adam Sandler, and veteran movie star Jackie Chan.

The highest-paid actresses for the same period are released as a separate list, and are yet to be announced.

Last year, Scarlett Johansson topped that list with an income of $56m – less than that year's seventh-placed actor.

Actress Sylvia Oluchy: This culture of photographers issuing out fame as a compensation for injustice and poverty is intrinsically flawed

Posted: 14 Aug 2020 04:00 AM PDT

Nollywood actress, Sylvia Oluchy has criticized photographers for issuing out fame as a compensation for injustice and poverty.

The actress cited the case of woman whose husband allegedly abandoned for giving birth to daughters with blue eyes and also Olajumoke Orisaguna who became famous after she photobombed the photoshoot involving rapper Tinnie Tempah.

She stated that the the best way to help such people is to support their craft rather than creating a whole new reality of fame for them.

Sylvia tweeted;

"This culture of photographers issuing out FAME as a compensation for injustice and poverty is instrincally flawed. Fame is not a reward. Fame is actually ENDURED in exchange for living your dreams. Celebrities will tell you their utopia is to keep the success and lose the fame.

People who require fame to boost their craft eg Actors, Musicians, Politicians usually go through a long period termed "paying your dues" where they develop a thick skin and learn to tolerate all the BS that comes with being popular.

Throwing poor illiterates into the spot light is like throwing a baby in the deep end first to teach it how to swim

I recall the breadseller who TY Bello made famous. Illiteracy & her naivety meant she couldn't convert the sudden fame to anything substantial & there's always someone lurking to take advantage of her new status. She later complained about how fame ripped her life apart.

Now it's the woman with the blue eyes who was called a witch by her husband. Today, I saw a beautiful photoshoot on her. Helping someone would be more beneficial if we helped them progress in things they actually do as opposed to treating fame like a proven remedy to any problem.

The bread seller would have been better off if TY Bello helped her raise money to start her own bakery for example.

These photographers have their hearts in the right place but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Anybody in showbiz will tell you that sustaining fame is harder than getting it. Big brother contestants are a good example

What these photographers fail to realize is that unless they are prepared to stay the course, take these people under their wing, mentor and teach them the business of monetizing their fame for nothing less than 5 years. The fame they give them solves nothing long term.

They'll be used as poster faces for causes by people with their own agenda and then quickly forgotten. But now because they are popular, they can't go back to their old life and can't move forward.

We should help people become the best versions of themselves rather than creating a whole new reality for them. This blue eyed woman, what does she do? If she is a petty trader for example. It might be better to get her a bigger shop and give her capital to upgrade her business.

Perhaps these photographers might want to scour for under appreciated talent and issue those ones fame. They will be better prepared to handle it and ready to tolerate the life upheaval because fame is actually something they desire and need desperately.

Fame is HARD, don't let the glamour on SM fool you. To sustain it, you REALLY need to WANT it. Now that we know her story, thanks to her photoshoot. Helping her grow at whatever it is she already does will be a longer lasting solution to self sufficiency than instant fame."
