#EndSARS: Arsenal player, Mesut Ozil, lends an international voice against Police brutality in Nigeria

German footballer and Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil has lent his voice against police brutality in Nigeria which gained momentum lately.

Recall that Nigerians especially youths recently took to streets asking for the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad – SARS unit of the Nigeria Police.

The above gave rise to the now popular #EndSARS campaign which has gained  international attention as more foreign celebrities have now joined the campaign online.
 
Reacting to the news of Nigerians demanding that SARS be scrapped, the German midfielder said it was horrible to hear what's been going on in Nigeria and he asked that #EndSARS should be made a trending topic.

Ozil tweeted… "Horrible to hear what's been going on in Nigeria. Let's make this a trending topic everywhere – #EndSARS – My thoughts go out to everyone who has been affected."

He made this call yesterday, October 11 via his official page on popular micro blogging platform, Twitter.

In a related development, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad – SARS unit of the Nigeria Police was finally dissolved yesterday, October 11 with immediate effect.

Kiddwaya hails himself says “BBNaija camera no do me well, I swear”

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Terseer Waya, popularly known as Kiddwaya, joined Davido to storm the streets to protest against SARS/police brutality.

During the protest, fans spotted their fave, Kiddwaya and showered praises on him, saying he looks fresher after leaving the lockdown house.

Some of his fans blamed it on Big Brother's camera, insinuating that the camera wasn't good enough to bring out his handsomeness.


Kiddwaya however, confirmed their assertion, saying the camera didn't treat him well. According to him, he's more handsome than he looked on screen during the show.

"Big Brother camera no do me well, I swear" he said.

“Deploy them to Sambisa” – Actress Hilda Dokubo says as she joins #EndSARS protesters

Veteran Nollywood actress, Hilda Dokubo has joined #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll gate, Lagos.

The thespian said that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, doesn't belong in the civil society, according to her, they should be deployed to Sambisa as they are needed more there.

In an interview with Arise TV at the protest venue, she said;

"We are sick and tired of audio striking or whatever. We want to see it happen, 9 times they have rebranded them, but nothing has changed. The entire police force is messed up and they need to go in for proper mental evaluation.
 
And then you can restructure them, obviously not rebrand or renamed. We want to see it practically done. Listen, they are looking for where to deploy them to, I have a good suggestion, Sambisa needs people like them, they don't belong to civil society"

Nollywood actress Chacha Eke has announced that her marriage to movie director, Austin Fanni Ikechukwu is still intact.

The mother of 3 who showed off her baby bump for her 4th child with Faani, revealed that she can never leave her husband and Children.

Recall that on October 3rd, Chacha Eke came out to publicly announce that her 7-year-old marriage has ended and would someday share her story.

Two days later, amidst rumours of domestic violence in her marriage, she came out to say that she has bipolar disorder and that Faani has never laid his hands on her.

Chacha has now dropped a new Youtube video clearing the air and explaining what led to her making the controversial video.

"I heard myself saying crazy things, like I am leaving my husband. I am not leaving my husband, I will never leave my husband and my children and my home. My family, having a home, being Mrs. Faani and mother to the beautiful children God has given me is too much blessings to take for granted.
 
And so, I say this to as many as are out there, I didn't leave my home and I am not leaving" she said.

Anthony Joshua Commends #SARSMUSTEND protesters

Boxing heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has hailed the #SARSMustEnd protesters who have been on the streets calling for an end to police brutality in Nigeria.

Anthony Joshua made this known in a tweet he posted today, October 12, on his verified twitter handle.

The #EndSARS protesters who launched a new movement "#SARSMUSTEND" are insisting that the Federal Government makes the disbandment of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS unit of the Nigeria Police effective.
 
This is coming a day after the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu announced that the SARS unit has been disbanded.

The new movement also presented FG with with five demands which includes a demand for an increase in the salary of police officers to enable them execute their duties effectively.
 
Reacting to the wave of protests over police brutality, Anthony Joshua tweeted:
 
"Well done to all the Nigerians who have been protesting against SARS – those who made donations to fund organisations lobbying against it – those who have recently been informed & took time to educate themselves. Those with power to make change. Praying for Nigeria."


Reno Omokri asks Nigerian employers of labour to “Give their workers a day off to join the #SarsMustEnd protest”

Reno Omokri, a former aide to Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has called on Nigerian employers of labour to give their employees a day off from work to enable them join the ongoing #SarsMustEnd protest.

Mr. Reno made this call today, October 12, via his official page on micro blogging platform, Twitter.

In a bid to ensure their outcry is truly heard and their impact felt, Nigerian youths are trending the hash tag #SarsMustEnd today.

Sequel to the above, some Nigerians have hit the streets again calling on the federal government and the Nigerian Minister of Police to ensure that this year's dissolution of SARS is truly effective unlike the previous years.

According to Reno who has now joined the online protest since he lives in America, the #EndSARS protesters are protesting not just for themselves, but for their employers, the elite, and their children also.

He therefore called on Nigerian employers of labour to give their employees a day off from work to enable them join the ongoing #SarsMustEnd protest.

He tweeted, "Dear Nigerian Employers of Labour,
I urge you to give your employees a day off today so they can join the PEACEFUL #SARSMUSTEND protest. They are protesting #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria, not just for themselves, but for you, the elite, and your children! Send the text out now!"


Nigerians roast Youtuber, Ronke Raji Over Insensitive Post on #EndSARs

Popular YouTuber, Ronke Raji has been caught up amidst fire following a post on her page acknowledging a bicycle before talking about the #EndSARs protest.

 The beauty blogger had shared a picture of herself standing by a bicycle on Instagram while narrating her experience learning to ride one and in the end, she added a few lines about the EndSars protest.

This, however, did not sit well with her followers as it was considered a spit on the face.

UK government reacts as #EndSARS campaign heightens

The United Kingdom through her High Commissioner, has asked the Nigerian government to respect the rights of protesting citizens during #EndSARS protests across the country.

British high commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, made this remark yesterday, October 11, on micro blogging app, Twitter.

The High Commissioner who commended the federal government's decision to disband the special anti-robbery squad (SARS), stated that the IGP's commitment to ensure accountability for human rights violations is essential to restoring public confidence.

She asked the federal government to respect the rights of protesters while also urging them to remain peaceful during the protests.

She tweeted… "Welcome the government announcement on the future of #SARS – an important first step. The IGP's commitment to ensure accountability for human rights violations is essential to restoring public confidence in @PoliceNG

Hearing reports of violence affecting ongoing protests. Urge authorities to respect the right to protest and protestors to remain peaceful. @UKinNigeria."

Billionaire daughter, DJ Cuppy has revealed why she is yet to join the #EndSARS protests which has been on for 6 days now.

The disc Jockey who flew in to Nigeria from Dubia two days ago, had revealed she was coming to join the protest, but people have been wondering why she hasn't showed up yet.

Cuppy has now explained saying she was warned to self-isolate for 7 days due to Nigerian Covid-19 laws or face persecution.

"After rushing to fly back home; wandering why you haven't seen me out protesting? …Since arriving in Lagos "THEY" have warned that I MUST self-isolate for 7 days due to Nigerian #COVID19 laws or face prosecution!" she tweeted.

End SARS: Drama in IGP’s office as Davido denies protesting against police

David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has denied being part of the Nigerians that participated in the protest, calling for the end of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, protest in Abuja.

Davido, who was seen at the protest ground on Sunday in Abuja, made the denial during a meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu on Monday.

Davido explained that he was in Abuja because of his fans and he came to the protest venue to calm things down.

The singer had insisted that he wanted an open-door meeting but the IGP said , "How can you come here for a closed-door meeting, when you were protesting yesterday and you identified with the protesters?

Davido responded, "I did not protest, I was not there to protest. I was there to calm things down because the protesters are my fans."

However, Adamu maintained that Davido had taken an action that projected him as playing a true voice for young people, adding that the agenda of the meeting needed to be streamlined.

Recall that Adamu on Sunday, announced the disbandment of SARS, following days of online and offline protests.

But despite the ban, SARS officers were caught assaulting protesters in different parts of the country.

While many of their colleagues including Don Jazzy, Davido, Runtown, Falz, Small Doctor, are playing major roles in the movement against police brutality in the country, some are yet to publicly lend their voices.

The protest had many Nigerians in the country show up in their numbers to support the ongoing demonstration in Nigeria. He delivered a speech and showed gratitude to the people for representing and announced that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad has been disbanded in Nigeria by the IGP.
