| Wizkid replies President Buhari's aide who called him out for being disrespectful Posted: 09 Oct 2020 12:30 AM PDT Nigerian music star, Wizkid has replied an aide to the presidency, Lauretta Onochie, who called him out for disrespecting the president, Mohammadu Buhari. Wizkid calls out Lauretta Onochie on Twitter after she slammed him for disrespecting president Buhari.Wizkid had slammed the president over the weekend over his attitude towards the affairs of the country.Onochie an aide to the President on media, took to her Twitter page on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, where she slammed the music star for addressing the president as an old man."ts not disrespectful to call anyone old. Its the way and manner Ayo Balogun addressed the President that leaves a sour taste in the mouth. He exhibited crass ignorance, insensitivity, and childishness. But hey, he's a #DumbkidNotWhizKid When he grows up, he might learn respect," she tweeted.  In his response, Wizkid wondered if the president wasn't an old man and slammed Onochie for trying to digress from the pains young Nigerians are facing in the hands of men attached to the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS). | Nigerian rapper Olawale Hassan sentenced to jail for rape in the UK Posted: 09 Oct 2020 12:00 AM PDT Nigerian rapper, Olawale Hassan also known as Goldie 1 has been sentenced to jail in the United Kingdom for raping a woman. The rapper will be spend 10 years behind bars for raping a woman in 2017.According to BirminghamMail, made advances to the woman at a venue in Southend in February 2017.The 34-year-old said he would get her home safely but instead drove her to a car park where he overpowered her and ignored her requests for him to stop. Hassan was found guilty at Basildon Crown Court of three counts of rape and one of sexual assault, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said. He was sentenced to jail on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, for 10 years and two months.  |

| Fate of Alakada stuns at the Box Office despite limited seating capacity Posted: 08 Oct 2020 11:00 PM PDT Independence Day Box Office release, Fate of Alakada, has grossed over N28 million in four days despite restricted seating capacity. This was made known by the distributors and co-producers of the film, FilmOne Entertainment, on Monday 5th of October.
Fate of Alakada is the third installment of Toyin Abraham's Alakada franchise and was initially slated for release in cinemas on April 12th, 2020. However, it had to be suspended due to the lockdown necessitated by the COVID19 pandemic. Following the ease of the lockdown and the government's permission for cinemas to re-open at thirty-three percent in Lagos and fifty percent in other states, the film was rescheduled for release on October 1, Independence Day. FilmOne Entertainment has identified the performance of Fate of Alakada as prolific, stating that the opening weekend's gross places the film as the highest-grossing for the post-lockdown period, displacing films such as Mulan and Tenet, released two weeks earlier. The performance has also secured it a place on Nollywood's Top Ten highest-grossing for a holiday weekend opening since 2018. Films on the same pedestal include Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons, Chief Daddy and Sugar Rush, amongst others. Speaking about the film's success, the Head of Distribution at FilmOne Entertainment, Ladun Awobokun, was cheerful, "We are excited about the brilliant performance of the film so far, and optimistic that it would consolidate on this strong start to yield great numbers. Fate of Alakada has reaffirmed Nollywood's potential to be the anchor we need in times like this, especially when several foreign films have been postponed," she said. Fate of Alakada was written by Yakubu Olawale and Ozioma Ogbaji, co-produced by Mimi Bartels, and directed by Kayode Kasum. The story was developed by Toyin Abraham and the FilmOne production team. It features an array of stars including Toyin Abraham herself (who also doubles as Executive Producer and Producer), Broda Shaggi, Anto Lecky, and Odunlade Adekola, to mention a few. There were also cameo scenes for celebrities including Davido, Peruzzi, Swanky, Mercy Eke, Mabel Makun, Cobhams Asuquo and Funke Bucknor, amongst others. FilmOne Entertainment are also co-producers of The Wedding Party films, King of Boys and Sugar Rush, amongst others.  |

| Mr Ibu recounts how he was poisoned by staff Posted: 08 Oct 2020 04:00 AM PDT  Veteran Nollywood actor and comedian, Mr Ibu, recently got social media buzzing after his revelation about his close shave with death on different occasions.The film star recounted how he was poisoned by members of his staff and how they were paid to eliminate him perhaps because of envy.In the interview with Nigezie, Ibu who is also known for his very big stomach disclosed that he does not take alcohol and that he eats very little but that his belly started to grow very big after he was poisoned.The actor said that the belly eventually started to reduce after he took medicine and he was finally able to see his legs againSpeaking further, the actor who was very grateful to be alive said if not for God, he would have been a story. According to the film star, his staff members heard him falling around in his office but did not come to help because they were the ones responsible. According to him, he also took their poison a second time because he never suspected them until God opened his eyes. Mr Ibu said members of his staff had been paid handsomely to eliminate him probably because he was doing well with himself seeing as he built a house in his village and bought another in Lagos. Music producer, Samklef posted a photo of Mr Ibu on his official Instagram page. In the image shared, Mr Ibu was spotted shirtless as he displayed his massive potbelly. The producer in the caption that accompanied the post wondered what the comic actor was consuming to make his stomach protrude so much. He made the announcement in Abeokuta, the state capital, when he played host to the winner of the reality show at the executive chamber of the governor office in the State capital. "Once again, I congratulate you and on this note, I hereby appoint you as YOUTH AMBASSADOR OF OGUN STATE. I look forward to working with you to be a model of good character, excellence, good virtues, calmness, integrity that are general attributes of Ogun State, and in fact, your homestead, Odeda.
