Her reaction came barely a few hours after her father had taken to Instagram to recount how he felt when she openly came out as a homosexual. The grandfather said after she broke the news, he had so many thoughts including fears of parental failure, worry, and even stigmatisation for his daughter. Charly Boy also recalled how he had even help lend a voice to the Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community in the country just months before his daughter came out. Burna Boy clears the air after he was dragged for shading Wizkid Posted: 22 Nov 2020 03:30 AM PST African Giant, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has finally cleared the air after an unexpected twitter dragging last night. The artiste who was recently chased out of Twitter by trolls, seems to be confused about his alleged offense this time around. The drama started after Burna Boy made a tweet remembering his throwback days when he performed or rather rehearsed live with a band back before becoming a superstar. He tweeted: "This is me in Port Harcourt rehearsing in 2012 with my "then" Band. NO BE TODAY. Burna Boy Live: Band Rehearsals https://youtu.be/FFTnBQ98q1M via @YouTube" Although Burna Boy's tweet seemed innocent, the timing however made it seem like a shade to his colleague Wizkid who was performing live on YouTube at the time he made the tweet. Burna's 'NO BE TODAY' was interpreted as him bragging that he'd been doing this way before Wizkid and that he was trying to throw the spotlight off Wizkid on his Night. Some twitter users insinuated that Burna was angry because he'd gone on his own YouTube live performance a day before but had not got as much buzz as Wizkid who was the talk of the internet when Burna made his tweet. Replying to the backlash, Burna Boy tweeted: "Na wa o! On top my own Brother again?" Later on, he seemingly tried to blame alcohol for his tweets as he wrote: "I dey mumcy birthday since dey flexx. I don drink like 10 cans of STAR like this."

“We stand by our report” – CNN insists despite FG’s sanction threat on Lekki shooting documentary Posted: 22 Nov 2020 02:30 AM PST Cable News Network (CNN) has maintained the legitimacy of their findings on the Lekki tollgate shooting during Endsars protest. The Federal Government of Nigeria threatened to sanction the international broadcasting company over the documentary released on the Lekki massacre which clearly reveals how the Nigerian Army shot directly at unarmed protesters. In a statement released by one of its company spokesperson, CNN said it stands by its investigation. "Our reporting was carefully and meticulously researched, and we stand by it. The report was based on testimony from dozens of witnesses, and photos and video obtained and geolocated by CNN. It painted a picture of how members of the Nigerian army and the police shot at the crowd, killing at least one person and wounding dozens more. CNN verified photos and videos acquired from multiple eyewitnesses and protesters using timestamps and other data from the video files. Video footage shows soldiers who appear to be shooting in the direction of protesters. And accounts from eyewitnesses established that after the army withdrew, a second round of shooting happened later in the evening. Prior to publishing the report, CNN tried multiple times to elicit comment from the Nigerian army and police. A Lagos State police spokesman declined to comment because of an ongoing investigation. While a statement from the Lagos State government said that there would be no comment while a judicial tribunal was underway." CNN states |

“I love my gay daughter” – Charly Boy recounts when his daughter told him she was a lesbian Posted: 22 Nov 2020 01:30 AM PST Nigerian singer, Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy, has said that he is grateful for the experience of having a gay or lesbian child. The activist took to his Instagram to recount when his daughter, Dewy Oputa, came out and told him she is a lesbian. Read as he wrote below… "For Parents Only. About 4yrs ago, my last Princess of the house called me from America, from her tone I was bracing up for whatever she was about to tell me especially when she kept saying to me, "daddy promise me you won't get mad at me, or give up on me" I am close with my children and I love dem to bits. They are my friend. But I wasn't really ready for the "breaking news" my Princess Dewy had for me. When my child told me she is gay, a lesbian, I experienced a range of emotions, during dat phone conversation. So many things went through my mind, one of them included self-blame ("Did I do something wrong?") ("The child I thought I knew and loved no longer exists."), worry ("Will my child be discriminated against?) religious confusion ("Is my child damned to spend eternity in hell?"), and stigma ("What will people think of my child? Of me?") However, I kept pinching myself to calm down because I didn't want my baby to shy away from me or for us to have a strained relationship. I loved my baby far too much. I first took a deep breath. And all I could say was, "are you sure?" I was hoping it was a prank but it was happening in real time. Even though I was unusually calm through that conversation, my mind was wondering in all direction. Months before this incident, I was lending my voice in support of LGTB rights in Nigeria. Is life playing tricks on me. Now my daughter is gay, why do I feel disappointed? Am I a hypocrite? How do I handle this bomb shell? I have faced many challenges in my life and won, I was determined to win this too. All I want is my Princesses Love, happiness and Success in her life anything else is secondary. I told myself that I will get through this, and many months later I did. As a matter of fact, I now look back and find that I am grateful for the experience of having a gay or lesbian child. Nothing can come between me and any of my beautiful children. It is stupid to even think that having a gay child means that parents have failed. That's some pedestrian thinking. Me, I love my gay daughter oooo I love you Dewy❤️❤️❤️😍❤️😍" |
