| Spring/Summer 2021 Internship at the FDIC Posted: 07 Jan 2021 02:51 PM PST  Each year, the Center for Financial Research offers paid internships to undergraduate and graduate students to work alongside economists and research assistants in our Washington, DC, office. Research at the Center focuses on banking, financial markets, consumer finance, risk measurement, deposit insurance, and systemic risk, among other topics. Interns assemble data, perform data analyses, compose short memoranda, help write scholarly research, and assist with seminar planning. Interns also have the opportunity to learn about banking, finance, regulatory economics, and applied statistics; learn and receive training in SAS, Stata, and other statistical packages; and become proficient at data analysis. Interns must be enrolled as full-time students. Internships are limited to a one-year term, with a possible one-year extension. Interns may have the opportunity to advance to a permanent position at the FDIC. A posting for interns at grade level 4/5 is now available on USAJOBS. The application deadline is January 21, 2021.  Hamilton Place Strategies (HPS) is an analytical public affairs firm located in Washington D.C. Because students majoring in Economics have been a good fit for us in the past, we wanted to spread the word about our paid summer 2021 internship. Summary of Position:HPS is seeking full-time paid interns for summer 2021 to support the operations of the firm. They will benefit from immediate client exposure and opportunities for professional development while working in a fun, fast-paced, and challenging environment. Interns support directors and partners on client teams, as well as contribute to internal firm projects. A successful candidate has strong writing and time-management skills, and a curious, proactive, high-achieving attitude. Duties & Responsibilities:+ Write communications products like press releases, media advisories, opinion pieces, and social media posts + Research and monitor clients' business and industry to maintain an updated knowledge base and keep team apprised of new and ongoing developments + Collect, conduct, and present quantitative and qualitative research and analysis in a variety of communication vehicles, including presentations, reports, infographics, and fact sheets + Assist with executing events, including press conferences, speaking engagements, editorial board meetings and media trainings + Build and maintain media lists + Pull census data and economic policy data + Perform statistical and economic analyses + Assist in day-to-day administrative tasks as needed Qualifications:+ Rising undergraduate seniors (graduating in 2022) working toward a degree in Political Science/Government, Public Policy, Economics, Journalism, Business or related field + Previous internship experience at an agency, publicly-traded company, media outlet, or in politics or government + Experience conducting research and performing financial or economic analysis, writing and distilling complex ideas and concepts into a digestible format + Familiarity with business, economics, politics, and the legislative process; expertise and interest in a specific policy field is a plus + Excellent verbal and written communication skills + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint + Strong attention to detail + Ability to take initiative + Strong organizational skills + Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team + Problem-solving skills + Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple, competing tasks + Desire to work in a fast-paced environment + Ability to work 40 hours per week + Ability to commit to internship from early June through August 2021 Benefits:+ Excellent environment for learning and growth + Frequent firm-wide social events and activities + Knowledge Meeting lunches with all staff on a variety of topics  |
