Why You Should Never Stop Dreaming — Phyno

Nigerian rapper, Phyno, has dished out some words of wisdom to his followers on social media about the importance of having a dream.

The indigenous rapper spoke in an interview session with artiste manager, Bankuli that he has worked with different budding musicians who are talented without dreams.

Phyno added that one has to put in the works to make the dreams come to reality, else the talent would be a waste.

He said; "No matter how much you love an artist, if he doesn't have the dream from within it is not going to work because it is like you dreaming for somebody so, the dream is actually what is going to take you far.

"I have worked with a whole lot of artists that you probably say have talent, but they don't even see themselves at that place.

"So how is it going to work?

"It has to be you, that is why when you hear people say you are in charge of your dreams, you are in charge of the future you have to make it work; it's fact. Never stop dreaming.

"Success is in your hands".

D’Banj – Nigeria’s Creative Industry Is A Bigger And Better Export Than Oil Industry

Veteran Nigerian musician, D'Banj, has stipulated that the Nigerian Creative Industry (which the entertainment industry is part of) is a bigger and better export than the Oil Industry.

The Oil Industry is Nigeria's major source of foreign exchange incomes and government revenues, but D'Banj feels the Creative Industry can generate more income for the Sub Saharan Africa's country.

D'Banj said this while advocating for the use of intellectual property as collateral to access bank loans. The singer who spoke through his manager, Damian Okoroafor, stated that;

"Our creative industry is a bigger and better export than the oil industry. So, there is the need for more access to stress-free funds for those in the creative industry, using their intellectual property as collateral.

"When you look around the world, one of our biggest exports is the creative sector, thanks to our music, movies and photos.

"So, WAYEF is another opportunity to fully throw some weight behind the creative industry, through capacity training or access to funds."

'Koko Master's' manager spoke on his behalf at the launching of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank's Women and Youth Export Fund (WAYEF) in Abuja.

Maureen Esisi has opened up on her suicidal thoughts when her marriage to actor Blossom Chukwujekwu crashed.

Recall that more than a year ago, Maureen said she was the last person to know when her marriage to the popular actor ended.

She wrote at the time: "Yes, I was the last person to know my own marriage was over… I didn't see it coming. Like one day I woke up and Voila!!! It was over… E shock me ooo."

In a new video shot on Easter Sunday, April 4, Maureen revealed that at the time her 4-year marriage ended, she had no money in her account, had to start all over again in a new home, and thought suicide was her only option.

She said she managed to pull through thanks to a good friend, and advised followers going through challenges to hang in there.

Renowned Nigerian Disc Jockey, Ayorinde Kehinde Okiki, popularly referred to by his stage name, DJ Kaywise, has listed some things he would do differently for the Entertainment Industry if he were the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The skilled DJ, in a question-and-answer session via his official Twitter page on Tuesday evening, April 6, 2021, said he would take care of Nigerian entertainers—new and old, and compel award organisers to recognise DJs.

DJ Kaywise was quizzed by revered entertainment journalist, Adeyinka Oluwamayowa, who asked; 'If you were the President of Nigeria, what would you do differently for the Entertainment Industry?'

While responding to the question, the Goldberg brand ambassador added that he would put a proper structure in place for the Entertainment Industry to lean on.

According to the 'See Mary See Jesus' crooner, he said he would 'Host concert every month !! All proceeds will be used in taking care of the artists both old and new !!! Proper structure'.

He continued, 'Make it a compulsory thing for all Major award organizers to create DJs category!! The list is endless, G'.

DJ Kaywise recently dropped a hit single, titled 'High Way', featuring rapper Phyno. The song has met wide acceptance and positive reviews from his fans and music critics since it was released.

Wizkid shares snippet from “Essence” video with Tems; Announces release date

Grammy award-winning artiste, Wizkid has announced 9th April 2020 as the release date for his song 'Essence'.

The song, which he featured fellow Nigerian singer, Tems is the 11th song on his 'Made In Lagos' album that was released on October 30, 2020, by Starboy Entertainment and RCA Records. It is the singer's fourth studio (and second major label) album.

Kannywood Actress, Ummi Zeezee Threatens To Commit Suicide

Former Kannywood actress Ummi Ibrahim, better known as ZeeZee, has threatened to kill herself in a bizarre Instagram post.

In a message uploaded on Saturday, the actress said she was living a miserable life.

Her unedited message reads:
"This days I live a MISERABLE life to the extend that I want to commit SUICIDE, but please non of any body should ask me why? All I need from you people is a PRAYER."

Daily Trust reports that after several attempts to reach her proved abortive, she sent a terse message saying "Pray for me."

The Borno indigene had a few days earlier posted on Instagram that "If you can't deal with life, life will deal with you."

ZeeZee had what she described as a "controversial relationship" with singer Timaya after a failed romance with a businessman simply identified as Danchina.

She later claimed that she almost got married to former military head of state Ibrahim Babangida, with reports saying she later considered poisoning herself when she could not marry the retired army general.

ZeeZee and another Kannywood actor Zaharaddeen Sani fought dirty in 2019 over an alleged monetary gift by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

She accused Zaharadden, Sani Danja, Fati Mohammed, Al'amin Buhari and Imranaa Mohammed of taking money for the industry from Atiku entourage and sharing it among themselves.

Zaharadden dismissed the allegation, saying ZeeZee was making noise because she no longer had an impact in Kannywood.

A fan of late American pop star Michael Jackson, she released a song titled Janglover in 2019.

She last featured in a Kannywood movie in 2006.

Imo jailbreak: 6 of the escapees have returned voluntarily – Nigerian Correctional Service says

The Nigerian Correctional Service has said that six inmates who escaped during the attack at the correction facility in Owerri, Imo state on Monday, April 5, have voluntarily returned while 35 others refused to escape from custody during the attack.

The acting Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS, John Mrabure, disclosed this in a statement signed by the spokesman for corrections, Francis Enobore. According to the statement, 1, 844 of the inmates are currently on the run. The Correctional Service boss has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident and appealed to the good citizens of Imo state and Nigerians to volunteer useful intelligence to recapture the fleeing inmates.

The statement reads

"The Owerri Custodial Centre in Imo State has been attacked by unknown gunmen and forcefully released a total of 1,844 inmates in custody.

The attackers who stormed the facility at about 0215hrs on Monday 5th April 2021, gained entrance into the yard by using explosives to blast the administrative block.

They were said to have arrived at the centre in their large number in several Hilux pick-up vans and Sienna buses armed with sophisticated weapons and immediately engaged the security personnel on duty in a fierce gun battle. They eventually detonated the explosive to gain entrance.

The Acting Controller-General of Corrections, John Mrabure has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident and in collaboration with other security organizations, commenced a search and recovery operations to recapture the fleeing inmates.

While appealing to the good citizens of Imo State and indeed Nigerians to volunteer useful intelligence that will facilitate the recovery effort, the Ag. Controller-General wishes to assure that the security of custodial centres in the country remains sacrosanct.

He equally directed all officers attached to custodial facilities to remain vigilant at this trying moment in our history. As at the last count, 6 inmates have so far voluntarily returned to the facility while 35 inmates refused to escape from custody during the attack."
