Debo Macaroni addresses sex for roles in Nollywood amid Baba Ijesha's ongoing sexual assault case

The popular comedian urged influencers in the creative industry to stop demanding sex in exchange for opportunities.

Debo Macaroni has joined celebrities reacting to the recent sexual assault allegations levied against Nollywood actor Olarenwaju James popularly known as Baba Ijesha.

In a tweet shared on Wednesday, April 28, the actor addressed the prevalent sex for roles culture in the creative industries. He wrote "This is a perfect time to speak and appeal to the conscience of those in the industry who will never give opportunity to upcoming artists until they sleep with them or collect money from them. Make una dey fear God!!!"

" open your paynt.... those before you did it ooo. If you want to help your career.. come and suck me" Where is our humanity? This has gone on for so long and it has even become a norm. You will see great Talents struggling simply because they refused to "suck," Macaroni added.

Macaroni's reaction comes in the wake of reports that Baba Ijesha was arrested a few weeks back for molesting a minor. He reportedly confessed to his crimes.

Claims of sex for roles in Nollywood has been said in hushed tones for years with victims refusing to publicly call out their assaulters for fear of being blacklisted in the industry.

In 2020, Nollywood actress Sylvia Oluchi accused veteran film producer Lancelot Imasuen of sexual harassment on a film location in 2008. Imasuen later denied all allegations insisting his wife joined him on set which made it difficult for the alleged incident to have happened.

Media users attack Saheed Balogun for allegedly sponsoring plans to release Baba Ijesha

Veteran Nollywood actor, Saidi Balogun is in the news and is trending for the wrong reason.

Saheed Balogun has been alleged to be among those working on releasing their embattled colleague Baba Ijesha over an ongoing rape and sexual molestation case involving a 14-year-old child.

Few hours ago, we reported that a senior officer of the Lagos State Police Command had ordered that the suspect be released because there is no defilement case against him, and the court cannot sit due to the ongoing strike by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria.

The police statement added the CCTV footage only showed Baba Ijesha touching the victim's body and never showed him having sexual intercourse with the girl, who also confirmed it.

With several controversies trailing the case, an Instagram blogger Gistlovers has alleged that Saheed Balogun is among Nollywood stars sponsoring the release of Baba Ijesha from police custody.

According to the blogger, who disclosed the case is still under investigation, a huge amount of money has been paid for the release of Baba Ijesha.

The blogger wrote: This is one of those working underground for baba ijesha release,I am investigating the case and I think money has exchange hands,but still we demand justice, everyone who has a thing or two about the case will be dragged, I come in peace.


Reacting to the claims, Nigerians took to the comment section to rain curses on the actor and pray that he never know peace.

Actress Iyabo Ojo & Princess storm Panti Police Station over alleged attempt to release Baba Ijesha

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo and princes have stormed the Panti police station to stop the release of Baba Ijesha over an alleged case of rape and child molestation involving a 14-year-old girl.

Late Wednesday evening Iyabo Ojo revealed there are ongoing plans to grant Baba Ijesha bail. However, she vowed to rearrested the suspect if granted bail and ensure that the case is taken to the international level if the Nigerian government does not want to intervene.

Meanwhile, on Thursday morning, a source disclosed to PUNCH that a senior officer of the Lagos State Police Command has issued a directive to release Baba Ijesha from its custody on Friday, April 30th. This also generated widespread reactions among netizens and some Nollywood stars.

In the video shared on Instagram, Iyabo Ojo and Princess were seen within the Panti police station's premises. Iyabo Ojo can be heard saying that the suspect is not going anywhere and justice must prevail.

Temmie Ovwasa, formerly known as YBNL Princess because she was signed to Olamide's YBNL record label, has revealed that 4 years of her life was wasted while with the record label.

Temmie opened up about her life, sexuality, religion, and talent while speaking on the LITV show NaijaTalk Podcast.

Temi said she doesn't live her life by the Bible and doesn't have a religion.

Asked if the YBNL family knew about her sexuality when she was signed to the record label, Temmie, who said she is queer, replied: "I did not put my sexuality out there and it was nobody's business. I mean, who I f*** is nobody's business.

Back in 2020, Temmie accused record label boss, Olamide, of crippling her career. She said they gave her hope and brought her to Lagos only to end up taking the hope back.


She later reconciled with Olamide.

Speaking to LITV host, Dami Dawson, about her time with YBNL, she said: "To make me sit, to make a person sit for 4 years…

"It's not 2018 I left, it's last year, 2020, and the contract did not expire when I left. I just left because I was tired.

"Nobody was telling me anything. I was just sitting down there. And I came from Ilorin, I didn't have anyone here that I'll say is my family member that'll come and help my life. So, yeah, it was frustrating.

"I'm not the only artist that it has happened to. I can mention…. I don't want to mention their names now."

However, she was full of praise for Olamide. She said he's an "amazing" and "beautiful" person. She said he is not a trouble maker and doesn't go out of his way to hurt people.

But, she said businesswise, "It cannot work for us."

Temmie also addressed her controversial post that created buzz weeks ago. She had advised straight women to stop allowing men have sex with them for free.

She doubled down on the show, insisting women should be paid for their domestic and sexual services.

She explained that "the patriarchy" inspired her post.

"I don't necessarily think that men should inherently pay for sex. I just think that women should not be having sex with straight men for free. Because the economy, the whole system, is built on the backs of free manual labour, free intellectual labour from women," she said.

She spoke about how women spend all their time "washing clothes and taking kids to school while daddy is busy trying to do something with his life".

She said that for this reason, women need to charge men.

She said: "So yeah, I believe that all heterosexual sex is transactional, regardless of if people try to deny it or not.

"The way the system is set up is such that they will tell you, 'if you want anything from your husband, just be nice to him in the bedroom.' Please, we need to stop pretending as if these things are not happening.

"They're happening within marriages, they're happening outside of marriages.

"So, yeah, if you're a straight woman and you're having sex with men, I don't believe you should be having sex with men for free."

She added that men are no different as sex is also transactional to them. She explained that men sing about taking women out and not getting anything from her because they automatically expect to get sex for money spent on women.

She said that since we all know it's transactional, women might as well own it and put a price on it.

"Because we are all ashewo at the end," she said, adding, "If I'm walking on the road in Balogun market, nobody knows whether I'm a singer or not, we're all ashewo.

"I mean, if you're sleeping with men, get paid. I can't relate cos I don't sleep with men."

Comedian, Princess, says her foster child is the 14-year-old girl Yoruba actor, Olarenwaju James, aka Baba Ijesha, defiled 7 years ago when she was only seven.

In an emotion-ladden video, Princess said after the crash of her marriage, some parents allowed their children, six in number, to come and live with her so she wouldn't be lonely. She said while she was harbouring the six children, she was also rendering help to Baba Ijesha.

Princess alleged it was during one of his visits that he molested one of three girls living with her.

She said the defilement had an adverse effect on the child as she began to decline academically and otherwise.

Princess said after seven years, the girl told her and someone else what Baba Ijesha allegedly did to her. The comedienne said she called him for a meeting in her house where she set up a CCTV camera and he was captured trying to molest the girl again.

She berated people who are accusing her of trying to "tarnish his image."

Recall that last Thursday, April 22, the Lagos state police command announced the arrest of the actor for defilement.

Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has slammed Nigerians supporting actor Baba Ijesha who has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor.

The Lagos state police command last week announced Baba Ijesha's arrest for alleged rape. Shortly after his arrest was made public, some of his colleagues as well as some Nigerians, went on social media to cast aspersion on the claim. They asked that evidence must be provided for them to believe the allegation. They made particular reference to CCTV footage showing the actor defiling the victim.

Earlier today April 28, comedienne, Princess, released a video where she disclosed that it was a child left in her care that was defiled by the actor seven years ago. A heartbroken Princess couldn't hold back tears as she recounted how the actor allegedly defiled the victim seven years ago and how his action came to light recently. Read here.

Reacting to Princess's video, a visibly angry Nkechi took to her Instagram page to slam her colleagues and others that have been seemingly showing support for the actor. According to her, anyone supporting the actor will have a taste of what he has done to the victim.

Stepdad Caitlyn clearly doesn't share Kim's views and took to Twitter this week to write: "Gavin's District Attorneys across California are releasing dangerous criminals back on to our streets. Enough is enough. #RecallGavin"

This was Caitlyn's response to a story about a baby who was killed by a man allegedly arrested and released twice this year for domestic violence.

According to TMZ, Kim isn't happy about the tweets and has had words with Caitlyn about them.

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday slams her jealous colleagues over their prayers towards her having a failed relationship with her boyfriend, Hon. Opeyemi David Falegan.

Make sure I don’t catch you – Kiddwaya tackles Dorathy Bachor

Former Big Brother Naija star, Kiddwaya, has subtly dragged fellow housemate, Dorathy Bachor after she corrected his grammar.

Popular music star, Teni Apata reveals that the reason for having only the DMW Records boss, Davido, on her 'Wondaland' album is particularly for his motivational support.

In a recent interview with Adesope Olajide, the self-acclaimed sugar mummy of Lagos affirmed that 'it had to be Davido,' despite her closeness with other big stars like Burna Boy and Wizkid.

Adding to her point, Teni stated that O.B.O was one of the few who encouraged her to give her music career a shot in Nigeria while she was in Atlanta.

"I remember Wiz saw me at the headies and Wiz literally stood up and said hello. They always show love, Burna ….. Anywhere Burna sees me, he always shows love. But David is special because I have known Davido since Atlanta ooo".
