Actress Bimbo Ademoye – I’ve Been Disappointed By Award Organisers Twice

Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye says she has faced disappointments from award organisers two times.

The amazing role interpreter said despite the displeasures she would keep putting in her best into her craft and keep working harder.

She told Sunday Scoop that she's been disappointed at not winning an award. Ademoye revealed; "Of course, I am human. I had anticipated winning an award twice. But, has that stopped me? Absolutely not! Would I keep working harder? Absolutely yes."

Speaking on her quick rise in the Nigerian Movie Industry, she stated that; "I don't know if I have an answer to that. I would just say I am doing my thing. I am on my lane and I am going to keep going. I am not stopping anytime soon. Am I where I want to be? Absolutely not. Am I thankful for where I am? Definitely."

The beautiful screen diva also noted that she considered every day to be a high point. She said; "Every day is a high point. Getting the Eko Star Film and TV Awards was huge. It was not even a nomination, but a recognition. Every day is a step further for me."

Singer, Oxlade reveals what inspired his musical career

Nigerian singer, Ikuforji Olaitab Abdulharman, professionally known as Oxlade has opened up on the one major factor that inspired his musical career.

The singer took to his Instagram stories to answer a series of questions during a question-and-answer session.

One of his fans who's curious about what inspired the sensational singer on his career path has thrown the "what inspired your career" question at Oxlade.

Oxlade had responded by saying " Davido's jeep".

He further revealed that after seeing the luxury jeep that worth millions of naira, singer Davido bought for himself, it motivated him.

In his words, "After that day, I said I have to make it in life".

Multiple award-winning singers, Yemi Alade has taken to social media to vent out her anger at the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN over their regulations on Dollars.

Yemi Alade in a series of tweets on her official Twitter account slammed the apex bank, urging them to stop placing their focus on money laundering.

According to Yemi Alade, all the regulations introduced by the CBN is making the poor man get poorer.

Yemi Alade tweeted:

CBN REALLY NEEDS TO CONSIDER THE ORDINARY MAN IN NIGERIA! All the new restrictions on Usd deposits is affecting alot of http://businesses.You don't have enough USd to even give legimate business people for their imports ,why not find another solution.Poor man is getting POORER.

Investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo takes a dash down memory lane as she narrates the struggle of raising her son alone after her man abandoned her.

According to the controversial public figure, life took a different turn when she was promised marriage by her then-boyfriend after getting pregnant, only to be dumped afterwards.

While adding to her points, Kemi reminded Davido's fiancee, Chioma, to stick to her advice on being independent rather than depending on her man.

Young lady calls out popular businessman, Ned Nwoko for illegally jailing her father and other community leaders over an alleged forceful land takeover.

The lady identified as @pa_melanin on Twitter called out the politician with six wives for using his affluence to oppress the people of her community one of which her father is a victim.

In her narration, she wrote;

"Sometime in 2017, Ned Nwoko instigated a crisis in Idumuje Ugboko Community in Delta state, as a result of the community's firm refusal to give him additional 90 hectares of land, having mismanaged the hectares earlier given to him.

"In the ensuing crisis, it was alleged that one Cyprian Kumaorun was killed. While this was ongoing, my father, Okey Ifejoku was several kilometres away in Asaba. He was neither present at the scene of the crisis nor participated in any alleged fight.

"However, since then, Ned Nwoko has made it a point of duty to terrorise the community until they fall on their knees and offer him the land on a platter.

"By virtue of Mr. Okey Ifejoku's (my father's) position as the President of the Idumuje Ugboko Development Union, he has borne the greatest oppression from Ned Nwoko. Ned Nwoko has unlawfully used the instruments of state, particularly the Nigeria police in Delta State and Abuja, to oppress the helpless members of Idumuje-Ugboko Community.

"In 2017, Ned Nwoko prompted the police in Delta state to file a charge with the number: A/240C/2017, at the High Court of Delta State, against Ochei Nnamdi and Ofonye Ufoh, for the alleged murder of Cyprian Kumaorun. This charge was held on the merit and the defendants were acquitted.

"Not done, Ned Nwoko, once again, prompted the police to file a charge with the number: MI/24C/2020, at the magistrate's court of Delta state, Isele-Uku, against his own king (Obi Chukwunonso Nwoko), Mr. Okey Ifejoku (my father) and four other innocent members of the community for the alleged murder of Cyprian Kumaorun. The charge was sent to the DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) of Delta state, who advised that the defendants had no case to answer. On the basis of the DPP's legal advise, the charge was struck out.


"While this was going on, Ned Nwoko moved to Abuja and got officers of the FCID Abuja to arrest my father, Mr Okey Ifejoku and 9 other members of the Idumuje Ugboko community. The 10 defendants were arrested, detained at FCID for up to six months, before they were charged to court in two batches, by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation for alleged terrorism and alleged murder of Cyprian Kumaorun.

"One wonders how the Attorney General of the Federation got so interested in a communal dispute in Idumuje Ugboko, with all the actual terrorism and banditry going in the North-East and North-West of Nigeria. Additionally, how could a charge be filed in Abuja when all the ingredients of the alleged offence and all the defendants reside in Delta State?

"The first charge: FHC/CR/169/2020 was before Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the FHC and has been transferred to the FHC , Delta State. The Charge: FH/CR/11/2019 (Mr. Okey Ifejoku and 7 others) was assigned to Justice Abang of the Federal High Court. As at the time of writing this, 7 of the defendants have been granted bail, while the innocent youth Leader, Raymond Omosiete, has remained unjustly incarcerated first at FCID Abuja, and later at Nigerian Correctional Service, Suleja, since November 23, 2020. All on Ned Nwoko's prompting.

"My father, Mr. Okey Ifejoku spent a cumulative time of about 5 months in both FCID and Nigerian Correctional Centre, Kuje, before he could perfect his very stringest bail conditions. Seeing that almost all the defendants habe been granted bail and that the charge is being exposed for what it is, 'outright persecution', Ned Nwoko, once again, prompted officers of the same FCID Abuja, to initiate another round of arrest, for the alleged murder of the same Cyprian Kumaorun, for which Mr. Okey Ifejoku had earlier been discharged by thr Magistrate Court, upon the DPP's advice, and is in fact, still standing trail at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

"On March 25, 2021, as My father, Mr. Okey Ifejoku and his co defendants exited the FHC Abuja, where they had gone to attend their trial, officers of the FCID Abuja, arrested him and his deputy, Mr. Godwin Akaba, kept them at FCID for almost a week before they were transferred to Delta State Police Command, Asaba, where they are still being detained right now.

"Upon enquiry at the FCID, we were informed that they were arrested for the alleged murder of Cyprian Kumaorun. Few weeks later, an additional member of the community was arrested and the police has vowed to arrest and prosecute the entire community, even though there have concluded several times on the ongoing cases on this issue.

"Currently my father, Mr. Okey Ifejoku, who has been granted bail by the Federal High Court, is in detention at the Delta State Police Command, Asaba, for an offence he did not commit. The police have not charged him to court and they have refused to release him. While all these are ongoing, Ned Nwoko has instigated some members of the community with no trace of royalty to challenge the Obiship of King Chukwunonso. As a result of this, my king is yet to be given a staff of office, more than three years after he assumed the stool of his forefathers."

Vinka who is a mother of one has become one of the best artists in Uganda ever since she came on board, dishing out hit tracks consistently.

Burna Boy lands himself on the number one position of the United Kingdom's Top 20 Afrobeats Chart with his new song titled 'Kilometre'.

Following Burna Boy on the top chart is a Rema and Skepta-featured track, 'Dimension', by Jae5. Wizkid held the number 6 and 7 positions for his songs, True Love and Longtime, respectively.


WithinNigeria gathered that Burna Boy has the record for the Nigerian artiste with the most number 1 songs on the UK Afrobeats Chart.

Ellen DeGeneres To End Popular Talk Show After 19 Seasons

American talk show host and reality star, Ellen DeGeneres is set to stop her long-running daytime TV show after airing 19 seasons.

Ellen shared the big news during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. A source also told the Post, "She's promised one more season after this one and will exit at the end of the 2021/2022 season." DeGeneres has hosted the series since 2003, meaning the show will have run for 19 seasons by the time it ends. She explained to the outlet: "When you're a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged – and as great as this show is, and as fun, as it is, it's just not a challenge anymore," DeGeneres told THR on Wednesday.

Ellen explained during her interview, "I was going to stop after season 16. That was going to be my last season and they wanted to sign for four more years and I said I'd sign for maybe for one. They were saying there was no way to sign for one. "We can't do that with the affiliates and the stations need more of a commitment." So, we [settled] on three more years and I knew that would be my last. That's been the plan all along. And everybody kept saying, even when I signed, "You know, that's going to be 19, don't you want to just go to 20? It's a good number." So is 19. [Laughs]"

She went on to say, "When we did our 3,000th show, they showed that highlights montage and everybody was emotional. We all hugged and everyone had tears in their eyes, and Mike Darnell was here going, "You really want to [end this]?" Look, it's going to be really hard on the last day, but I also know it's time. I'm a creative person, and when you're a creative person you constantly need to be challenged, which is why I decided to host the Oscars or why I decided to go back to stand up when I didn't think I would. I just needed something to challenge me. And as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it's just not a challenge anymore. I need something new to challenge me."

This news comes as ratings have plummeted due to allegations of bullying and a toxic work environment on set.

New: Judge Rules Derek Chauvin Qualifies For A Longer Sentence In Murder Of George Floyd

Following a Minnesota judge ruling that there were four aggravating factors in the murder of George Floyd, former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin could face up to 30 years in prison.

Recall that Chauvin was convicted of two counts of murder and one count of manslaughter last month for kneeling on the neck and back of Floyd, handcuffed and lying prone on the street, for 9 minutes and 29 seconds.
 
Judge Peter Cahill ruled Wednesday May 13 that four of the five factors were proven beyond a reasonable doubt. He found that (1) Chauvin abused a position of trust and authority, and (2) he treated Floyd with particular cruelty.

"The slow death of George Floyd occurring over approximately six minutes of his positional asphyxia was particularly cruel in that Mr. Floyd was begging for his life and obviously terrified by the knowledge that he was likely to die but during which the defendant objectively remained indifferent to Mr. Floyd's pleas," Cahill wrote.

Cahill also ruled that (3) children were present during the offense, and (4) Chauvin committed the crime as a group with the active participation of at least three other people.

On that fourth point, Judge Cahill wrote that three former officers, Tou Thao, Thomas Lane, and Alexander Kueng, were actively involved in the incident, but he made no finding as to their intent or knowledge. They have each pleaded not guilty to charges of aiding and abetting.

However, Cahill rejected the aggravating factor that Floyd was "particularly vulnerable," noting Floyd had initially resisted arrest. He also ruled that restraining Floyd in the prone position did not create a vulnerability but was instead the actual mechanism of his death.

Floyd family attorney, Ben Crump released a statement on Wednesday applauding Cahill for the ruling.

"The application of justice, in this case, offers hope that we will see real change in the relationship between police and people of color by holding officers properly accountable for egregious behavior and for failing to honor the sanctity of all lives," Crump said

This comes weeks after Chauvin was convicted of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. Under Minnesota statutes, he'll be sentenced only on the most serious count – second-degree murder.

His sentencing is set for June 25, and he is currently being held at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Oak Park Heights.

The sentences for all three crimes would likely be served at the same time, not consecutively. "Generally, when an offender is convicted of multiple current offenses… concurrent sentencing is presumptive," according to the guidelines.

Chauvin faces other legal issues as well.

A federal grand jury indicted all four former officers in connection with Floyd's death, alleging they violated his constitutional rights, according to court documents filed in federal court in Minnesota. Chauvin also was charged in a separate indictment related to an incident in which he allegedly used unreasonable force on a Minneapolis 14-year-old in September 2017, the Justice Department said in a statement.

Lady Who Benefited $50,000 Scholarship From Drake’s Music Video Giveaway Bags Masters Degree

Destiny Paris James, the lady who received a scholarship from Canadian rapper, Drake in 2018, has revealed that she bagged a Masters degree from the University of North Carolina.

The soon-to-be Master's degree holder was thrust into limelight after her appearance in Drake's "God's Plan" video, where the rapper surprised her with scholarship fund.

In a few days time she would receive her certificate, and to celebrate, Destiny took to social media to share her story.

The 2018 video for Drake's God's Plan showed the artiste surprising Destiny and also further presenting her with a cheque of $50,000 to help her complete her education.

Destiny Paris James was doing her undergraduate programme at the time at the University of Miami, UM. She gained admission into UM in 2015 and graduated with a Bachelor of science in Public Health in 2019.

She then proceeded for her Master's at the University of North Carolina's Chapel Hill Gillings School where she will be bagging an MSc in Public Health in Health Behavior in 3 days.

Prince Harry Reveals How He Met Wife, Meghan Markle

Prince Harry has said he first met Meghan Markle in a supermarket and they pretended they didn't know who each other were.

He said they acted like they were grabbing some essentials at the shops as they got together for the first time.

The royal couple did their best to stay "incognito" to avoid attracting attention.

Harry says he wore a cap and was looking at the floor as they finally met up.

The Duke of Sussex made this revelation while speaking during Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast.

He said: "The first time Meghan and I met up for her to come and stay with me, we met up in a supermarket in London, pretending we didn't know each other, texting each other from the other side of the aisles.

"There's people looking at me, giving me all these weird looks, and coming up to me and saying 'hi'.

"I texted her saying "is this the right one", and she said "no you want parchment paper", and "I'm like where's the parchment paper?!"

"I had baseball cap on, looking down at the floor, trying to stay incognito. It's amazing how much chewing gum you see, it's a mess!"

He went on to say what he really loves about living a quiet life in America.

Harry says that life had felt "more free" since his move to LA.

He continued on the podcast: "Living here now I can actually lift my head and actually I feel different, my shoulders have dropped, so has hers, you can walk around feeling a little bit more free.

"I can take Archie on the back of my bicycle. I never had the chance to do that."

Victoria Inyama Reacts To Comedian AY’s Call Out Post

After Comedian AY Makun dragged Victoria Inyama over her comment on a post about him, the latter has reacted.

Inyama, claimed that the comedian took offence even though she never accused him of anything.

Yomi Fabiyi Threatens Violence On Iyabo Ojo

Yomi Fabiyi has threatened violence on Iyabo Ojo as he releases a message he claims he received from Iyabo Ojo to show the world that she allegedly apologized to him privately on WhatsApp.

The actor, who has been steadfast in defending Baba Ijesha since he was detained for alleged child molestation, also threatened Iyabo Ojo.

This comes after Iyabo filed a lawsuit against him, seeking 100 million Naira in damages for a post he made, claiming that she promised to kill Baba Ijesha if he's released on bail.

To show that he's unfazed by the suit, he shared a screenshot of Iyabo's putported WhatsApp message apologizing for exposing him to cyberbullying.

He said that's he has evidence that she admitted to cyberbullying him.

He added that he's making a great effort to restrain himself from hitting Iyabo. He also said that if he catches her, she will "see craze."

Iyabo Ojo Releases Her Full Chat With Yomi Fabiyi To Show The Real Picture Of Their Conversation

As the disagreement between Iyabo Ojo and Yomi Fabiyi continues, the actress has released her full chat with him to show her followers that the part he shared, where she was apologizing to him, doesn't show the full picture.

Recall that in the chats shared by Yomi, Iyabo apologized for exposing him to cyberbullies. Yomi said it's his proof that she admitted to cyberbullying and he threatened her (read here).

But in the full chat released by Iyabo, it shows Yomi telling her about the "kind regard" he has for her and said he will be the last one to "come for your words or post".

Singer Harrysong goes on a brief rant concerning the state of affairs in the country

Big Brother Naija star, Mike Edwards has raised eyebrows on social media after he announced that his son, Matthew has gotten his Nigerian passport.

Mike has been in the country for quite some time and he's been trying to ensure that his family gets attached to his country.

He shared a video of himself, his wife and their son at the passport office in Ikoyi sorting out the documents.



However, Nigerians on his timeline were sceptical of how he was able to get his son passport despite reports that they are no booklet.

Some fans asked him to give them contacts that will ensure they get their passport without any glitches.

Popular Nollywood actress, Eve Esin blast a troll who pokenosed about her not finding pleasure staying in her home.

The actress took her time to reply to him on Instagram as she further took a screenshot and shared it on her Instagram page. The troll accused her of always staying in hotels rather than her house.

Eve had to remind him that her work takes her around the state and it's expected to stay in hotels.


Here's her reply;

"fool. I work round the clock in different states. I wont be busy filming and cashing out if i lounge at home. Recieve sense"
