Nollywood star, Ify Onwuemene, famed for her role in the popular sitcom 'Everyday People', has died of cancer.

It was gathered that the actress, who died on Tuesday, had been battling endometrial cancer.

Her colleague in the film industry, Gloria Anozie-Young, broke the news of her death via her Facebook page. Gloria in her post wrote

"With a deep sense of loss but total submission to God Almighty, we regret to announce that IFEY ONWUEMENE has gone to be with the Lord.

"IFEY ONWUEME was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Her womb was removed, but she has been battling the ailment for many years now.

"In 2019, even after eight sessions of chemotherapy, the doctors told her she had reached stage 4. However, we are not sure if she was given the wrong diagnosis or being treated with the wrong chemo, because she still felt pains on her upper abdomen and her tummy bloated.

"Ify spent more than N10m, being helped with donations by her fellow actors and other Nigerians. A GoFundme account was opened for her, but it did not yield much. She had to go for draining every two weeks at a cost of N280,000, but only 3 litres of liquid can be removed at a time so that her heart is not affected.

"IFEY has finally gone to rest, today 25th May 2021. May her soul rest in perfect peace. Amen."

Gloria added that burial arrangements would be released by the family of the deceased.

May her soul rest in peace, Amen.

OAP Dotun, Comedian FunnyBone Debate On Why Marriages Crash

Posted: 27 May 2021 05:00 AM PDT

Veteran On Air Personality (OAP) Dotun and talented comedian FunnyBone have shared their thoughts on why they think more marriages are collapsing these days than it used to be in the past.

The debate started when Dotun shared, on his Instagram page, shared a list of some questions to ask before going into marriage just to avoid entering the union blindly.

Dotun wrote that "the questions are not sacred", however it is important to ask;

How much do you earn?
What antics provides you the greatest sexual pleasure?
what is your genotype?
how many kids do you intend to have?
what would you pay for & won't pay for?
What do you believe to be your spiritual gift?
FunnyBone commented on the post, elaborating more about Dotun's list. He noted that because those questions are necessary, sacrifice and tolerant are other key factors that are more important to make a marriage last.

He also opined that transactional approach to marriage is detrimental to the union, adding that partners have to find ways of making their homes work.

FunnyBone wrote, "If you find the right answers to this questionnaire today but fail to sacrifice and be tolerant. E go still spoil later.

"This transactional move is not the ultimate. The onus is on both partners to fashion out ways to work it through.

"Remember people change and this answers you seek are temporary. Tomorrow he or she might want another thing.

"Las las it's about 2 imperfect people willing and trying to be perfect".

Dotun disagreed with FunnyBone's comments. He stated that marriage is transactional and backed his claim up by shedding more light on it. He argued that going to the court of law to seal or dissolve a marriage is unnecessary.

Dotun said, "my Gee in the real sense Marriage is actually transactional. It is feels so sacred in this part of the world to use such narrative but it is. We all bind this thing by God, but why do you still go to a law court to seal or dissolve? Why do you need to feel secured against all odds?

"This issue with marriage is when the parties do not meet up to each other's obligations or renew its vows accordingly. If we can have this conversation after everything goes south, why can't you before you even start.

"I honestly think marriage should be sacred but not a do or die if you have tried every option and it didn't work. Staying together works but the reason for most crashes these things that are unattended to".

Singer Falz – ‘We Live In A Society Where There Are No Consequences For Actions’

Posted: 27 May 2021 04:30 AM PDT

Rapper Folarin Falana, popularly called Falz, says the major challenge facing Nigeria is 'culture of impunity', which he described as a lack of consequences for actions.

Falz spoke on Monday at the inaugural #FixPoliticsDialogues hosts debates on national issues. The event was themed '1999 Constitution: To change or amend?'.

The wordsmith advocated for an amendment of the constitution by focusing on areas of accountability.

Falz elaborated on Nigeria's culture of impunity, stating that it was the reason #EndSARS protest came into being in October 2020.

"The real issue is the culture of impunity such that there are no consequences for actions. Anybody can just do anything they want to do and get away with it," he said.

"This was basically the basis of the outcry last October during the #EndSARS protests. Someone can tell you 'I will shoot you and nothing would happen'. Why won't nothing happen? Because we live in a society where there are no consequences for actions."

He also described Nigeria as a tenth world country that is lagging far behind a third world country, which the nation is referred to.

"What I genuinely think is that the discussion right now isn't the real concern. Nigeria is being referred to as a third world country but if you allow me, we are even a fifth world country or a tenth world country," he said.

"I will tell you why. What we should be discussing in 2021 should be socioeconomic issues and things that are progressive. I don't understand why we are still here in 2021."

He added that right leaders should be elected and appointed into government.

Wife, Temitope Ayefele – Any Woman That Gets Close To Yinka Ayefele Will Be Burnt By Holyghost Fire

Posted: 27 May 2021 03:30 AM PDT

Mother of triplets and wife of famous singer and broadcaster, Yinka Ayefele has prayed that the Holy Ghost fire will come down upon any female fan that tries to get too close to her husband.

Speaking during a recent chat with PUNCH, Temitope Ayefele when asked how she copes with her husband's many female fans, said if they come too close to her husband, they will be burnt by the 'fire of the Holy Ghost'.

She said;

"They are welcome to be his fans and they can also admire him. My husband is a very good looking man; a super star and hard-working person. They can like and admire him though from a distance because if you come too close they will be burnt by the 'fire of the Holy Ghost'.

"My husband looks good and nice all the time and that has cost me a lot of time and affection. But on a lighter note, I have never been bothered about my husband's so-called admirers. I love and respect his fans. I did not marry anybody's husband. I married the husband of my youth, and God has lightened my path all the way"

"I love fame and glamour but we decided to separate our lives from the public glare. My husband is always out there working. He is the one representing the family. I always enjoy watching him out there, giving his best. I am not a shy person but both of us cannot be out there. It would affect our home, so we decided not to make our private lives public….

"We attend some events together if I am around and am invited. But most times, he goes to events to work— singing for people— and I can't be following him around while he's doing his job. If he is not the one performing at the event and the invitation is for the two of us, we would attend together."

Opening up on how romantic Yinka Ayefele is, she said "You know my husband is an Ekiti man. He is romantic and I have also taught him how to be romantic. To be honest, he is really trying and I always appreciate him for his efforts.

"He frequently calls to check on me when he is not at home. He buys things for me, even if there is nothing to celebrate. On every Valentine's Day, he surprises me. Also, my birthdays are always different every year. There are so many sweet things he does to make me happy.

"I don't discuss my husband with anyone and I don't give room to anyone to advise me about my husband. Many people call me 'Ruth abokoku' (a woman who is ready to follow her husband to the grave). I see marriage as being 'for better, for worse'. When it is 'better', one would enjoy and when it is 'worse', one would have to endure and pray to God."

Reflecting on the birth of their triplets after waiting for 20 years after marriage, Temtiope said "The birth of my triplets is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I might not have the right word to describe how grateful and blessed I am.

"That was something I had been aspiring to have for more than 20 years. I prayed that even if I could get just one child, I would be glad. I begged God that I had been waiting for so long, so He should give me an extraordinary miracle. And, God did just that. It was an awesome experience and I am still not out of the blues yet. Whenever I see my triplets, I believe that I am highly favoured by God.

"Yes, I did IVF and I had been doing it since 2003. I would not use the word 'desperate' but rather say women who are 'aspiring' to have children. If one is desperate to have children, one would do unthinkable things that one could regret later.

"But, when one is aspiring for a thing, one would take the right steps and leave the rest to God. Even if one conceives through IVF, it is God that made it possible. IVF treatments are not pleasant. They would drain one emotionally, financially and psychologically.

"I was through it several times, both in Nigeria and abroad, and God decided to put a smile on my face.

"To women out there, people look at those of us that could not have children immediately after marriage as if we had messed up our lives or that we don't know what we are doing. I would advise you to be optimistic that you would have your children at the appointed time. You should also wait on the Lord for directions."
