American singer Lady Gaga’s alleged dognappers and woman who ‘found’ them arrested

The good Samaritan who returned the dogs to the music star is alleged to have been in on the heist.

The suspects behind the dognapping of American singer Lady Gaga's dogs have been arrested.

According to PageSix, 5 people were arrested for the robbery. Interestingly, none of the robbers knew the dogs belonged to a celebrity.

"Detectives do not believe the suspects were targeting the victim because of the dogs' owner. However, evidence suggests the suspects knew the great value of the breed of dogs and was the motivation for the robbery," the police revealed.

However, once news of the armed ambush went viral, they tried to cash in on the $500,000 reward offered by the devastated star — by recruiting Jennifer McBride as a good Samaritan who found the two pups that were stolen.

James Jackson, Jaylin White and Lafayette Whaley face attempted murder and robbery charges for the armed heist — with Jackson accused of shooting Fischer in the chest before the trio fled with the dogs.

McBride and Harold White, meanwhile, are charged as accessories to the crime.


Police said the deceptive do-gooder is the girlfriend of one of the men's fathers, while the other four are alleged "all documented gang members."

It would be recalled that Lady Gaga's dog walker was shot four times in the chest while two of her precious pitbull dogs were stolen back in February.

The music star had offered to pay $500,000 (N240M) to the thieves

Big Brother Naija organizers announce open auditions for season 6

The forthcoming season will see its winner take home N90 million worth of prizes.

Organizers of fan-favourite reality television show, Big Brother Naija have announced the commencement of open auditions ahead of the sixth season.

The new audition set for May 3 to May 16 is exclusive to Nigerians above 21 and will be virtual in line with Covid-19 safety measures.

Participants of the initially announced early auditions have been advised not to participate in the new auditions.

Recall that the show's organizers announced early auditions in March alongside the official prize for the new season confirmed to be N90 million. The season's new twist was available only to GoTV and DSTV users.

'I had a divine encounter with God' - actress Belinda Effah says as she explains reason for changing her name

Nollywood actress Belinda Effah has changed her name to Grace Charis Bassey Effah.

The movie star says she is now known as Grace Charis Bassey Effah

According to the movie star, the reason behind her name change was that she had a divine encounter with God.

Effah made this known during a press briefing organised on Monday, April 25, 2021, to unveil her new name and brand.


"I had to change my name and the only thing that can make me change my name will be the most supreme being which is God. A lot of people will not understand that. So I don't bother to explain to people when they ask me why," she said.

"A couple of years ago I wanted to change my name when I found out that I could not really grasp the meaning of my name. Some people said it meant 'beauty' some other people said it meant 'beautiful serpent'.

"So I was cut in between not knowing what the right meaning is. Linda seemed to have diverse meaning and I wasn't quite comfortable with that. Also with the fact that Belinda was not the first name that my parents gave to me. My birth name is Uyu."

Bassey Effah went down memory lane as she explained how her brother gave her the name Belinda.

"I came across Belinda in secondary school, one day my brother came up with the idea of changing my name and my sister's name because we were all bearing native names. He came up with different names and asked us to pick."

"Funny enough I picked Melinda but I didn't like the name because people started calling me Mirinda in school. So I decided to just go on with Belinda because they could not twist it to something funny like Mirinda."

"I should have known not to pick Belinda because my brother actually picked it for my sister and I was going to be Melinda but she said she wanted Fiona. She checked the meaning and it was cool and she went on with it."

"I didn't check I was just carried away with Belinda because it sounded cool, it sounded hip, and that's what I get all the time when people hear my name. they say oh, I like that name. It sounds hip."

The movie star said she got stuck at some point in her life and decided to ask questions about her purpose in life.

"I had to turn to my creator and asked him, what is your purpose for me in this life? That was because nothing seems to make sense to me anymore. Not money, not people, not material things," she explained.

"Before then, on my own I wanted to change my name but when I thought about it, and made research about name change, it was too complicated you have to change your whole identity, you have to do the paper works, of course I'm a brand people know me as Belinda Effah."

"So it's personal and my fans are very personal too. I mean they won't accept it at all cost. I actually changed it three years ago but not on papers. It was too tedious so I gave it up. However, on the15th of August last year. I had a divine encounter with God to change my name to Grace."

"Nobody changed my name to Grace, God did. So after my encounter with God, I called my parents and told them not to call me Belinda anymore, and my mom said wow... congratulations. The interesting part is that my mom said she named me Grace at birth."

The movie star then announced at the event about the official change of her name.

"So... Dear world, ladies and gentlemen of the press, dear family and friends I will like to be recognised and identified as Grace-Charis Bassey henceforth and not as Belinda anymore. I know it's going to take a while for people to adopt to this, people may make mistakes and still call me Belinda. It's ok, I'm giving you guys six months to get use it," she said.

"I'm Grace-Charis Bassey and I want to unveil my new logo for my business. From House Of Belinda to Grace-Charis Bassey empire. So this is my representation now. A couple of people have asked me what Charis means. Charis means Grace, so I'm double dose of grace." She concluded.

When asked about her change of name on her social media platforms, she said she has tried to change her name on Instagram but Instagram has refused to change it for reasons known to them.

“Your leadership is disastrous, resign” – Paul Eneche tell someone Buhari

Founder, Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Pastor Paul Enenche has attacked President Muhammadu Buhari, saying his leadership is disastrous and that he should resign from office.

Enenche, in one of his sermons, lamented widespread of insecurity in the country, saying the government has failed the people.

He said it is not by force for Buhari to rule and that if he knew he could not, he should resign.

"Is it by force to rule? If you can't can't you resign? Is it by force? Things are going out of control at various level and people are still sitting there until everybody dies?

"The time has come when they say enough is enough. It is not even time to blame the kidnappers or the bandits, where are the people in authority that can make kidnapping to end under seven days if they want?

"There are kidnapping cells everywhere in the bush. We have modern navigated technology to locate everywhere they are under 24 hours. Everywhere they are can be located by satellite.

"And then the people they kidnap passed through road blocks, and people are sitting and priding themselves, I am chief this and chief that. Useless chief for nothing. If we wait for authority everybody may die in calamity, Jehovah has to arise on behalf of this nation," Enenche said.

According to him, "The only disater we have in Nigeria is disastrous leadership. If somebody is watching and blood is flowing, it is either he is a killer or he is a sponsor of killers or he is excited at the killings, that is the scenario of our nation, truth must be told."

Enenche was in the news recently as he was said to have acquired a private jet. He, has however, denied the rumor

Baba Ijesha is so despicable – Abike Dabiri-Erewa

The chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Arewa has reacted to the sexual assault allegations leveled against Nollywood actor Olarenwaju James popularly known as Baba Ijesha.

Baba Ijesha was recently arrested by the Lagos state police command to allegedly molesting a minor.

In a tweet posted on Thursday, April 29, Dabiri-Erewa attacked the accused actor, dismissing his plea for mercy in a now-viral video where he confessed to the crime.

"So despicable! The act by Yoruba actor, Baba Ijesha, who defied a girl, at 7 years and later at 14 years! Who knows how many the pedophile could have damaged if he wasn't caught," Dabiri wrote.

I sponsored the violence against person's law. The penalty is nothing less than 14 years in prison. His plea, begging on some video I watched should not be acceptable.

We should all do all we can to support the girl's foster mother, Princess, to ensure this case goes to court and fully tried, and maximum sentence passed on him" she wrote

Princess Shyngle Rushed To Hospital After Second Suicide Attempt

Gambian actress and producer, Princess Shyngle has been rushed to a hospital in the United States after she attempted to take her own life again.

The actress, who attempted suicide in 2018, made another attempt on her life in the United States of America.

Footage shared online shows her on a hospital bed. A medical report also shows the substances she consumed in her attempt to end her life.

"Depression is real. I gat this," she captioned the video.

Recall that in 2018, the actress was rescued by a neighbour and rushed to a hospital in Lekki, Lagos, after taking an overdose of a medication. She reportedly also drank bleach.

Akuapem Poloo In Trouble Again As Police Complaint Is Filed Against Her

After conquering a legal battle for posing nude in front her son,  Akuapem Poloo is reported to be in fresh legal woes as a police complaint has been filed against her.

A defamation claim was filed against her by her friend Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB.

Presenter/ comedian, DKB, had been in charge of donations made to Akuapem when she was sentenced to jail for posing naked in the presence of her child.

The comedian has now said that the actress accused him of squandering monies he solicited on her behalf while she was in prison.

This was after Akuapem Poloo claimed one Mama Alice had accused her of not showing appreciation for the money she donated while she was in prison.


According to Poloo, Mama Alice claimed to have given GH¢4,000 to DKB to be given to her.

To prove her innocence, Akuapem Poloo, in a video, said she has not received any money from DKB and he has also refused to pick her phone calls.

To clear his name, DKB has lodged a complaint asking the police to investigate the matter.

DKB posted his police statement on his Instagram page.


He called the Ghanaian actress "ungrateful" and a "defamer". He also said he regrets helping Akuapem, whose real name is Rosemond Alade Brown.

He wrote:

You can either be ungrateful or a defamer but you decided to be the 2.

I swear on every sweat, blood and insults I've received, the extent to which I went to support is the same extent I'll go to drag you over this.

It go over you. Be careful when helping a Ghanaian.

I'll really regretted everything.

“Author of confusion” – Reno Omokri slams Father Mbaka as he urges Catholic church to defrock him

Ex-presidential aide Reno Omokri has attacked the spiritual director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka over his recent comments about the rise of insecurity in Nigeria.

Recall that in 2015, the clergyman was one of the core supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari during the general elections. The Rev has attacked the incumbent government over the high rate of kidnapping and killings that's sporadic within the country.

In a video that has gone viral, Father Mbaka was seen addressing his congregation as he explains that in a civilized country, President Muhammadu Buhari would have given up his position or been impeached. He urged the House of Representatives to impeach the president if he refuses to resign.

However, Reno Omokri has reacted to this, as he addressed the clergyman as an author of confusion and urges the Roman Catholic Church to defrock him.

Here's what he wrote;

"Reverend Father Mbaka is an author of confusion. Today, he is calling on General @MuhammaduBuhari to "resign or be impeached'.
In 2015, this same man told Nigerians that God told him Buhari was Nigeria's saviour.
If the @Catholicchurch does not defrock this man, he will rubbish their name.
Read Scripture. God is very clear. "God is not the author of confusion`-1 Corinthians 14:33. A man of God should not speak from both sides of the mouth. How could God have told Mbaka that Buhari is the saviour in 2015, and now God is telling him another thing in 2021?
This is the same man who falsely accused then President Jonathan of attempting to assassinate him!

Why I said my father was dead – Amputee hawker finally speaks

27-year-old amputee hawker, Mary Daniel, has asked to be forgiven for deceiving sympathetic Nigerians by claiming her father was late.

Ms Daniel received massive donations from Nigerians, running up to N25 million, after pictures of her, hawking sachet water in the sturdy traffic of Lagos, went viral online.

Things however turned awry for her when the Lagos State Government discovered discrepancies in her records of her background she had earlier shared.

Ms Daniel had claimed she was an orphan with a baby to care for, eliciting more sympathy from donors.

The Lagos State Government stopped her from accessing the cash gift generously donated by Nigerians after she was exposed for lying.

In an interview on Thursday, Ms Daniel pleaded to be forgiven by those who sympathised and supported her. She explained her reason for pronouncing her father dead was due to his negligence towards her as a father after her accident.

"Nigerians should forgive me. People that stay on the streets and in noisy places, they hardly have a settled mind and I said my father is late so Nigerians can help me. I made a big mistake; Nigerians should please forgive me," she pleaded.

"My father abandoned me since I was involved in this accident, there was no one to take care of me, nothing! That was why I said he's dead. But my mother is truly dead. I had an accident truly; I was not amputated from birth," she said.

Sani Yakubu Ejima, the leader of the Igala tribe in Lagos debunked rumors of her arrest, stating she was handed over to a committee who worked alongside Irede Foundation to assist Ms Daniel set up a business.

They set up a committee. I'm part of that committee and with Irede foundation and co, that Mary will be set up. They asked that she come up with a business idea, they arrived at a conclusion that when Mary finds out what she wants to do, they will establish her. So Mary said she wants to run a supermarket and after everything, they handed her over to me, after that, I brought her home," he said.

Nigerians react to leaked chat of former Alaafin’s queen

Following reports that one of Alaafin's queen was sent out of the palace, recent reports have claimed that the queen has turned to an online beggar.

According to blogger, Gistlover, the queen, identified as Dami was left homeless after the King sent her out of the palace.

Taking to Instagram to say this, Gistlover wrote;

"Ori Ade ti sun Ita o,(Royalty don sleep out o)y'all should help Queen Dami out of this situation on ground now and her mum has been thrown out of the palace too, attached is the video of the mum crying, I come in peace, Ori Ade yaf sleep out o, I come in peace"

However, Kind hearted Nigerians decided to contribute some money towards helping her get a decent accommodation and starting up life again after the King reportedly dumped her for her friend.

Reacting to this, @lorrlah wrote;

"So these beautiful women marry this old man and their available balance is still Zero kobo. Omo so what's the point? You don't have money? Really"
