Unknown Gunmen Kidnap Top APC Politician

Uba Boris, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was kidnapped in Bauchi by unknown gunmen.

According to reports, he was apprehended by gunmen at the CBN roundabout near the AA Rano filling station on the Federal Lowcost Road around 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to Vanguard, the attackers, who were on two motorcycles, fired gunshots into the air to scare people away from the area.

According to an eyewitness, the politician was quickly hauled out of his car and into a waiting automobile, where they continued to fire rounds into the air as they drove away.

He went on to say that the kidnappers drove down Nassarawa Street before turning around when they saw a police patrol van approaching and speeding down Federal Lowcost Road.

According to Vanguard, nothing has been heard regarding the kidnapped politician's whereabouts as of this morning.

SP Mohammed Ahmed Wakili, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), has yet to publish a statement regarding Boris' disappearance.

This comes following a viral video in which an older guy warned she would suffer and die as a result of the issue.
 
The man may be heard stating in the video:

"Because Baba Ijesha did not settle them well, they want to tarnish his name, they cannot tarnish his name.. God will surely tarnishh Iyabo Ojo. She will suffer, watch it."

Reacting to this, Iyabo Ojo took to her page to write:

"Baba Ijesha, Yomi Fabiyi and all you evil men and women supporting evil, plotting and trying all manner of evil to bring me down or end my life, I need you all to understand one thing, you all are wasting your time

Guru Maharaj Ji— Don’t Compare Sunday Igboho To Nnamdi Kanu, I’m His Spiritual Father

The founder of One Love Family, Sat Guru Maharaj ji, has described himself as the spiritual father of Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Speaking exclusively to SaharaReporters, the founder of One Love Family said the activist wasn't arrested at his residence. Describing himself as the spiritual father of Igboho, Maharaj said the Yoruba agitator can't be compared with "Nnamdi Kanu who has a radio station telling people to fight and fight."

"Everybody has right to present themselves, you can't compare Ighoho with Nnamdi Kanu who has a radio station telling the people to fight and fight, even though we can't be sure it is the Kanu's boys who go about burning down police stations everywhere for any reason or so ever.

Sunday Igboho stopped the killings going on in Ibarapa, that was how he won my love. I supported him in that area, he stopped those doing evil."

Taraba Governor– NYSC Should Be 2 Years, Corpers Must Be Trained To Handle Guns

As part of measures to curb the rising insecurity in the country, Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, has said that members of the National Youth Service Corps should be allowed to undergo military training in order to know how to handle guns for self-defence.

The governor also said the duration of the youth scheme should be extended from one year to two years to allow sufficient training for the graduates.

He stated this on Wednesday night when he featured in Channels Television's 'Politics Today' programme monitored by The PUNCH.


Ishaku, whose state is one of the North-East states affected by Boko Haram insurgency coupled with killings by armed militias, emphasised that citizens should be allowed to bear arms and defend themselves against their aggressors

The governor said, "When the security can't protect you, then something in the alternative must come in, we must be practical. Train people, give them practical induction, let them know what to do.

"The NYSC I will say should be two years. One year for compulsory military training and the other year for the social works that they are doing now so that anybody who graduates as an NYSC person can know how to handle the gun and defend himself just as it is done in Israel, Lebanon and other places, you must engage your citizens to be proactive. When you cannot provide security, you must allow the people to protect themselves."

He lamented that bandits and terrorists terrorising people, wreaking unimaginable destruction and unprintable bloodshed in the North-East were being sponsored by some influential persons.

"There are sponsors, these are brand new AK-47s. How would a local man buy such an expensive weapon? It is in a video and all over the place where someone confessed that the guns were being given to them and they were being trained on how to use them. It is the work of the security agents to get to the roots of this.

"If they can go out of this country and capture somebody who is declaring independence, why is it impossible for them to defend our people who are being killed in the farms?" Ishaku queried.

He, however, expressed optimism that the insecurity in the region and in all parts of the country can be defeated when the political class and the security agents stamp their feet on the ground and are ready to end the menace.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, said corps members are part of the national defence policy of Nigeria and can be mobilised for war if need be.

Ibrahim while reacting to moves to scrap the NYSC scheme which is compulsory for all Nigerians who graduate before the age of 30 had said, "You can imagine within the short three weeks in the orientation camps, the corps members are moulded. They are like soldiers. You see female corps members blowing the army horn, playing with the military band.

"So, if not for the knowledge, where are you going to mobilise such young Nigerians to train them quickly to put in their best for the country?

"So, corps members are on reserve. They are also part of the national defence policy. Parents should teach their children the spirit of patriotism."

Hadi Siriki – Airlines must refund 100% airfares to passengers after 2-hour delay

The Federal government as said that all airline operators in the country must refund the full cost of travel tickets to passengers after a two-hour delay.

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, made this known on Thursday at the weekly State House Briefing in Aso Villa, Abuja. He read some of the rights of aviation passengers at the briefing and charged them to demand their rights whenever they are being trampled upon by airlines.

"On domestic flights, delay beyond one hour, carrier should provide refreshment, and one telephone call, or one SMS, or one e-mail. They should send you an SMS or email or call you to say, 'I am sorry, I am delaying for one hour'.

Delay for two hours and beyond, the carrier shall reimburse passengers the full volume of their tickets. Delay between 10pm and 4am, carrier shall provide hotel accommodation, refreshment, meal, two free calls, SMS, email and transport to-and-fro airport," Sirika said, adding that the same rules apply for international flights.

Jonathan Gaza, a member of the House of Representatives, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This comes just 24 hours after the PDP lost four members of the House of Representatives to the ruling party, according to Nollywoodtimes.


The four lawmakers, all from Zamfara, blamed their defection to the APC on the PDP's internal problems.

Bello Hassan Shinkafi, Ahmed Bakura, Ahmed Shehu, and Suleiman Gumi are members of the House of Representatives.

The legislators cited the conflict in the PDP's Zamafara State chapter, which led to the state chapter's dissolution by the party's national leadership, as their reason for defecting to the APC in a letter signed by Suleiman Gumi.

According to this online daily, Gaza also dumped the opposing party on Wednesday.

During plenary, the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, read the letter of his defection.

Abdullahi Sule, the Governor of Nasarawa State, and two of his predecessors, Sen Tanko Almakura and Sen Abdulahi Adamu, were present on the House floor to observe.

The Speaker, clearly pleased with the defection, could not contain his joy as he taunted the minority caucus over the newest defection.

"Where is Hon Ndudi Elumelu (the minority leader), is he not going to raise a point of order?" The Speaker asked.

Court Clears Ex-Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun Of NYSC Certificate Scandal

 A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday, ruled in favor of former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, over a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate controversy, which resulted in her resignation in 2018.

It was gathered that Justice Taiwo Taiwo, in his ruling on the originating summon with suit number: FHC/ABJ/CS/303/21 brought by Wole Olanipekun, SAN, on her behalf, held that the NYSC certificate based on the constitution is not a mandatory requirement for holding a political office in the country.

This newspaper learnt that while Adeosun was the plaintiff in the suit, the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) was the sole defendant.

It can be recalled that Adeosun resigned over allegations that she used a forged certificate to avoid the country's mandatory one-year youth service scheme. She had lived in the UK until she was 34 and said that she had been told she was exempt because she was over 30.

Protest Rocks Ibadan Over DSS Raid On Sunday Igboho’s House

Sunday Igboho's supporters protested the DSS raid on the activist's home on Wednesday.

Supporters of wanted Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, have come to the streets of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, to protest the Department of State Services' midnight raid on the activist's home last Thursday.

Protesters gathered in front of Igboho's house in Ibadan's Sooka neighborhood around 12 p.m. on Wednesday and took to the streets.

They were heard chanting "No retreat, no surrender!" "Oodua Nation!" "Sunday Igboho is not a criminal!" amongst other phrases.

A leader of the protesting youths, whose name was unknown as of the time of filing this report, addressed the gathering before they took off.

He said they would march to the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji; and from there proceed to the Government House, amongst other places.

"It is a peaceful demonstration; we are marching there to demand the release of the detained persons. We are not afraid of teargas, we are marching to demand the rights of our people.

"We want them to bring the killers of Adogan and Alfa to book.

"The government must pay the N500m damages as requested by Igboho's lawyer for the destruction of his house and property during the invasion.

He said "We want the Obas to make this happen within seven days"

Presidency Reveals Why SSS Killed Sunday Igboho’s Relatives

According to the Presidency, the State Security Service (SSS) killed Sunday Igboho's family in accordance with President Muhammadu Buhari's command to shoot on sight.

The SSS attacked the home of Mr. Igboho, a proponent of a sovereign Yoruba nation, on Thursday, and killing two of his relatives.
 
 Mr. Buhari's media aide, Garba Shehu, in a Tuesday statement, said, "Mr President's directives to security services regarding anyone seen to be carrying arms, particularly AK-47, are clear and require no further illumination.

"Assault weapons are not tools of peace-loving people, and as such, regardless of who they are and where they are from, the Security Agencies should treat them all the same."

Mr. Buhari had ordered the military to shoot anyone carrying advanced weapons such as the AK-47 in March, as part of a crackdown on bandits terrorizing various sections of the country.

Activists and attorneys, on the other hand, criticized the decision, claiming that Nigeria is not a jungle where security forces shoot everyone with guns.

Mr Buhari reiterated his shoot-on-sight directives during a one-day visit to Lagos in June, warning that his government would respond decisively and strongly against individuals threatening the country's security facilities.

Mr Buhari advocated fatal measures against Sunday Igboho and his supporters, according to the Peoples Gazette in January.

Mr Buhari told The Gazette that if Igboho and his associates continued to "disturb public order" in Oyo and attempted to pull Nigeria into civil war, they would be shot on sight.

The SSS said it attacked the Yoruba separatist leader's Ibadan residence and killed two people because Mr Igboho was planning a "violent insurrection against Nigeria."

"In the course of the exchange, two of Igboho's armed men were gunned down while the rest were subdued and arrested. Only one DSS operative, who was shot by the assailants on his right hand, sustained injury. He has, however, received medical attention and is very stable," said the SSS," said the security agency.

NPHCDA boss, Dr Faisal Shuaib says – COVID19 vaccines do not cause magnetism in bodies

The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib, has dismissed reports claiming that the COVID19 vaccines when administered on a person, causes magnetism. 

There have been widespread theories online suggesting that the COVID19 vaccines cause a body to become magnetic.

At a press conference in Abuja, Dr. Shuaib dismissed the claim saying it is the work of rumor mongers and mischief-makers.

"The anti-vaccination elements have come up with magnetic conspiracy, in which they claim, and are deceiving people with videos, that COVID-19 vaccine creates magnetic field around vaccination site and can cause the body to light up an electric bulb.

As ridiculous as this and other conspiracy theories are, vulnerable people believe them and are therefore continuing to take the risk of avoiding COVID-19 vaccination. Although the people who are manufacturing conspiracy theories about COVID-19 are in the minority, the virulence of the social media increases their reach. For this reason, ladies, and gentlemen, it has become necessary for us to confront the false theorists if we really want Nigeria and the world to overcome COVID-19 and recover from its adversities.

At the onset, it was claimed that COVID-19 was introduced to justify developing vaccines that would be used to depopulate Africans. Those who came up with this theory said that anybody who takes the vaccine would die immediately. Today, as we all can see, nearly 4 million doses of the vaccine have been administered in Nigeria and we have not recorded any case of death linked to the vaccination.

On seeing this reality, the rumour mongers changed their narratives into saying that the vaccines used in Europe and America are not the same as the ones used in Africa. Again, as evidence have come to show, it is now clear that the COVID-19 vaccines used in Europe, America and elsewhere in the World are the same used in Nigeria and other countries in Africa. The conspiracy theorist went silent about this claim and are now saying that anyone who takes the vaccine will die after two years. Nigerians are predominantly a country of Muslims and Christians. We know that these religions are clear that no-one knows the year of the day they will die. So why would we even pay attention to such spurious claims?

Distinguished members of the press let us not forget that this same falsehood of children dying after vaccination was spread about Polio vaccine, but after many years, children who took polio vaccine are still alive and have grown into adulthood and having their own children, as expected. There has not been any case of a child's death that is linked to polio vaccination, and many more children have been born to discount another claim that polio vaccination would lead to infertility.

I would like to make very clear and demonstrate publicly that COVID-19 vaccine does not create any magnetic effect around the vaccination site or any part of the body for that matter, neither does it cause the body to light up an electric bulb. It is also a well-known fact that persons with wet, moist, or sticky skin can have objects stuck to their skin especially in smooth areas. Strong friction also allows for objects to stick to the skin. COVID -19 vaccines do not contain any metal – this is another fact! So how can it generate magnetic field or light an electric bulb?

Ganduje – Kano Spends N1.5 Billion Monthly On School Feeding

Kano State Govenor Abdullahi Ganduje says President Muhammadu Buhari administration spends N1.5billion monthly on school feeding in the State.

Ganduje gave the figure on Tuesday when he hosted the technical committee on the National Home Grown School Feeding programme (NHGSF).

He stated that Kano has the highest number of population in Nigeria and also the highest number of public schools.

Ganduje said his administration operates free and compulsory education system, while Almajiri education has been integrated.

The Kano helmsman, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, said these resulted in higher pupil enrollment.

"When education is made free and compulsory, the number of pupils will definitely increase, even if you cannot afford it because it is compulsory", he noted.

Commissioner of Education, Muhammad Sanusi-Kiru, said Kano has 1.2 million pupils covered in the school feeding programme.

He called for validation of data of the beneficiaries to 2 million due to increased enrollment.

Sanusi-Kiru added that there are 12,258 food vendors benefitting from the NHGSF.

The commissioner said each cook receives N82,000 every 16 days to prepare food for the pupils in primary one to three.
