Yvonne Nelson, Uriel Disagree On Effectiveness Of Waist Trainer

Posted: 14 Jul 2021 08:00 AM PDT

Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson and Nigerian reality star Uriel Oputa have disagreed on the effectiveness of waist trainer in their latest social media posts.

The debate started when Yvonne Nelson advised her followers on micro-blogging and social media website, Twitter, to stop using waist trainer because it doesn't work.

The attractive actress added that influencers and companies advertising waist trainers are only fooling them. She then advised that only physical exercise can give a perfect body if it didn't come naturally through one's mother or enhanced by a doctor.

"Before we go to church, lemme say this…baby gyal,no slimming tea / waist trainer is gonna give you no TAPOLI / snatched body, stop letting these companies / influencers fool you. Two people, a doctor or your mum and one place, the gym can give you that body," Yvonne wrote.

Following Yvonne's post on twitter, fans of former Big Brother Naija participant, Uriel, tagged her to the post. Uriel, known for advertising waist trainer on her social media pages, was forced to react, disclosing she felt attacked by the enormous number of tags she got on that post.

Uriel countered Yvonne's opinion about waist trainer. She stressed that waist trainer has been around for a long time and it has proven effective because it helps to structure the body.

She wrote; "Stop Tagging me on the recent blog post. I'm Drama free so this is coming from a place of Honesty. If you have worked with me, you know I wouldn't touch your product unless I've used it!!! Credibility is worth more than money to me!!! WAIST training doesn't work?

Why has waist training been around since the 1800's

Why is there still a huge market for it???

Yes, I influence but I influence with honesty

Waist training helps structure the body while you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

We are Africans, right?? What happens after African women gives birth? We bind/tie our stomach, right?? Now if that isn't old school waist training then I don't know 😩So does waist training work? Look through my pictures I combine everything, Diet small small workout.

From a size 16 to now. Yo let me continue biko.

I can tell you this: any woman who has struggled with their weight will know this. when you put on a trainer and you can finally fit into a dress that feeling is gold!!! Work??

Let's explore the Narrative of working?? Is it physical working or emotional?? Because it does both.

I can testify that the slim tea from the brand I represent works. I won't tag them before you say na Ad. But just look at my page. I didn't do surgery so it must work 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I had to speak out because of all the Tags it was getting too much. I felt attacked 😂😂😩"

Sound Sultan’s Last Appeal Before Death

Posted: 14 Jul 2021 04:30 AM PDT

Lanre Fasasi, a.k.a. Sound Sultan, the late singer, had urged Nigerians to celebrate people while they were still alive.

This was his final Instagram appeal before succumbing to throat cancer on Sunday.

It was necessary, according to Sound Sultan, to honor people while they were still alive rather than after they died.

Sound Sultan died at the age of 44, according to a statement released by his brother, Mr Kayode Fasasi, on behalf of the family.

The late singer and songwriter was also survived by his wife, three children, and siblings, according to the statement.

Sound Sultan's message was in sync with Patoranking's recent song, "Celebrate Me," which similarly encouraged people to give the appropriate honors while they were still living, rather than after they died.

Mr. and Mrs. Fasasi Liadi Alarape gave birth to Sound Sultan. Baba Dee, a graduate in Theatre Arts, was one of his five siblings.

The performer earned a bachelor's degree in geography and regional planning from Lagos State University in 1999.

Sultan won several local talent events in 1999, allowing him to release his debut single, "Jagbajantis," in the year 2000.

After the single's popularity, the singer went on to release other successful songs and collaborate with several of his label mates.

Sultan was signed to the Kennis Music label at the time, but his contract with them expired in 2007.

With his brother, Baba Dee, the singer then founded his own record company, Naija Ninjas.

Nel Ust Wyclef Jean, a Haitian rapper and actor, was a friend of the singer.

In Wyclef's song "Welcome to Haiti: Creole 101," Sultan was featured alongside Nigerian musicians Faze and 2face Idibia.

He also worked with Wyclef on the tracks "People Bad" (2012) and "King of My Country" (2009).

Actor Jim Iyke opens up on his early days of his career –“I did a little too much that earned me a bad reputation”

Posted: 14 Jul 2021 01:30 AM PDT

Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has admitted to earning a bad reputation as a result of not being schooled on how to handle fame in the early days of his career.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Iyke said, "One cannot make a difference in anything in life if one is not open to criticism. At first, don't forget we were not schooled about what to expect as regards being famous and handling fame. We did not understand what it meant. We did a little bit too much that earned us a bad reputation. I could not conduct myself with the best decorum in those days. As one gets older, one understands oneself, one's pattern, the people around one, and the responsibility that has been entrusted unto one. It is no small gift to influence people. One owes the world a certain responsibility whether one likes it or not. We refused our responsibility along the way but once one embraces it, things would become easy. That is what I do these days. It is about my businesses, family, and mental health."

Asked about the woman in his life, the actor said, "My partner is a very quiet, conservative and highly intelligent person. She does not have any say in the limelight. At some point, I understood it. It is simple arithmetic— one is out there and the focus is on one. [The best thing is to] find somebody there is no focus on but meets one's intellectual, physical and spiritual values."

Sharing his thoughts on the ban of Twitter in Nigeria, he said, "I don't agree with the regulation of social media in Nigeria. The strongest tool of interaction for millennials is social media. You cannot take that away. It is not just a platform for commerce for them; it is also a platform for venting about social ills. If you take that away, you take away their fundamental human rights. It is to be denounced in every form or shape."

BBNaija’s Kemen – “Why the last respect given to a dead cannot be given to the living”

Posted: 14 Jul 2021 01:00 AM PDT

Former Big Brother Naija Housemate Kemen has given a tangible reason why last respects are given to the dead instead of the living.

This is coming after the likes of Soso Soberekon has accused colleagues, celebrities, and Nigerians at large of never reaching out to late Sound Sultan before his untimely demise.

Kemen took to his Instagram stories to write that the attention accorded to the dead is because it is a one-off which is why it is called, the "last respect".

He wrote;

"The love, attention, and respect accorded to the dead can only be accorded to the dead because it is a one-off it's called "last respect". You can't give such to the living cos it's not sustainable. Don't mistake this reality for some selfish emotional bais."
