25-Year-Old Comedian Drowns In Cross River During Birthday Celebration

While celebrating the birthday of his Principal, popularly referred to as Mr James, a 25-year-old local comedian, Kingsley Ekpe has allegedly drowned in a private swimming pool.

Newsmen gathered that Ekpe drowned at a private hotel while swimming with his friends during the birthday celebration.
 
An eyewitness said the incident occurred along Calabar Mutala Mohammed Highway in Calabar Municipal local government of the State.

He said the deceased, who is also a teacher at Lott Carey Secondary School, Uwanse in Calabar South Local Government Area, met his untimely death when he and his colleagues went to the hotel to celebrate the birthday of the Principal of the school.

"The celebrant and his guests took time to swim in the hotel's swimming pool amidst other merriments and when it was time to depart the hotel, it was observed that Kingsley was missing," the source said.
 
The Principal of the School, who was the chief celebrant said it was his girlfriend who raised the alarm when they were about to leave the place.

"We searched everywhere and when we looked into the pool, he was in a sitting position.

"Ekpe was brought out of the pool and strangely it was discovered that he was dead.

"We pressed his stomach to gorge out water and instead of water, it was blood that came out. Strangely too, there were no marks or any wound on his body", Jones added.

However, the management of the hotel alleged that the deceased "took a lot of drink with his friends and was asthmatic that was why it happened".

The deceased's father, Mr Lawrence Asuquo Ekpe said he was angry with the claims by the Manager of the Hotel that "my son was asthmatic that was why he drowned.
 
"Can a man live with his son for 25 years without knowing the health status of the child?"

Mr Ekpe said Kingsley was hail and hearty before leaving the house that day and had no inkling of the tragedy about to befall the family.

"My son plays football. Does an asthmatic patient play football? He jogs every morning, does asthmatic patient jog? Certainly the hotel is not saying the truth of what took place there", he fumed.

At the Federal Housing Police Station where the matter was reported, the DPO confirmed the incident, stating that investigations were in progress to unravel what "actually took place there and no stone will be left unturned to get to the root of the matter".

On his Instagram Story, the rapper also posted another picture of the newborn, gripping one of his fingers.
 
"Another me…. That's all the world need," he captioned the moment, adding angel and laughing emojis.

The Love & Hip Hop stars called it quits in late May after a year and a half of marriage.

Mena filed for divorce from Samuels in Georgia's Fayette County Superior Court, TMZ, PageSix, and Entertainment Tonight reported.

According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Mena said her marriage to Samuel is "irretrievably broken" with "no hope of reconciliation."

She also asked for joint legal custody, final decision-making authority, and requested physical custody of Safire on a temporary and permanent basis "with the parties having parenting time as determined in the minor children's best interests," Entertainment Tonight reported.

Bill Cosby Issues First Statement After Prison Release

American comedian, Bill Cosby has issued his first statement after his release from prison.

Recall that on Wednesday, Pennsylvania's highest court overturned his indecent assault conviction and ordered his release from prison, ruling that the prosecutor who brought the case was bound by his predecessor's agreement not to charge Cosby.

The Supreme court found out that that testimony tainted the trial, even though a lower appeal court had found it appropriate to show a signature pattern of drugging and molesting women.

The American comedian and actor, 83, served nearly three years of a three-to 10-year sentence after being found guilty of drugging and violating Temple University sports administrator Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

The former "Cosby Show" star – the first celebrity tried and convicted in the #MeToo era – didn't comment at a news conference outside his home, where his lawyer Jennifer Bonjean said: "We are thrilled to have Mr. Cosby home."

"He served three years of an unjust sentence and he did it with dignity and principle," she added.

The actor has now taken to his Twitter page to thank his fans, supporters, and friends, insisting that, 'I have always maintained my innocence.'

"I have never changed my stance nor my story. I have always maintained my innocence. Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law," the tweet said.

According to reports sighted online, Tania Omotayo's husband Olasumbo and his friend Armani were snitched on by a colleague of theirs in the US over fraud in the US and got arrested in Nigeria by the EFCC for further investigation.

Theater Arts and Motion Picture Producers Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing have apologized to each other over their recent clash.

Giant American film production and film distribution studio, Lionsgate, has been authorised to distribute a Nigerian blockbuster movie, 'A Soldier's Story II', in North America.

The movie producer of the highly rated movie, Martin Gbados, made this known via his Instagram page while sharing his excitement about the new feat.

He explained that the deal with Lionsgate will include video on demand and television distribution across the United States and Canada.

Davido's manager, Asa Asika has finally taken to social media to react to the painful death of his  friend, Obama DMW.

Within Nigeria had earlier reported that Obama DMW died of suspected heart failure on Tuesday after he complained of severe pains.

With a heavy heart, popular Afrobeat singer, Peruzzi opens up on his final moments with music executive, Obama DMW who died on Tuesday.

Obama DMW passed away at a hospital in Lekki after walking in on his feet with complaints of having breathing difficulties.

According to Peruzzi, the DMW crew alongside the late music executive had lunch together while seeing off Davido who jetted out of the country before the horrifying incident.

In a chat, Huncho wrote;

"I was with him this morning. He was eating rice in the studio cus we all gathered there to spend time with David before he left. Obama left me there at past 2am and I left there by past 3.

Obama DMW whose real name is Habeeb Uthman reportedly drove himself to a popular hospital on Lagos Island on Tuesday, June 20, 2021, over complaints of breathing difficulties.

He was reported dead after hours of his admission to the medical facility and his body has since been deposited in the morgue.

Aside from always hanging around Davido, Obama DMW was also a music executive who later became an artiste's manager and founded his music label Obama Music Worldwide (OMW).
