Linda Ikeji Shares Touching Story — ‘I Was Kicked Out Of Miss Nigeria Contest’.

Posted: 05 Jul 2021 10:30 PM PDT

Nigerian Billionaire blogger, Linda Ikeja has recounted a touching story how her dreams of becoming Miss Nigeria in 2003 was short-lived as she was evicted from the show.

Linda Ikeji revealed that she broke down immensely knowing she did not make top 10 and according to her, that night was the worse nights of her life and she thought all hope was lost for her and she recalled how she cried for days before she made a resolve to move on with her life.

Sharing a throwback photo of her and other contestants on stage during the grande finale of the event, she wrote,

"Number 8 at the 2003 Miss Nigeria pageant. I thought I was going to win but I didn't even make top 10. That night was one of the worse nights of my life. I remember just asking myself what I was going to do with the rest of my life because for some arrogant reason, I'd built a future around being Miss Nigeria even before the pageant held. Sigh. For two straight days I cried wondering what to do next.

I wanted to be successful. I wanted to be somebody. I wanted to be rich. And here I was being told that I wasn't even good enough to be Miss Nigeria…lol.

After a few days of feeling sorry for myself, I got fired up. I said to myself, this life isn't going to defeat me or pass me by. I must count. I'll fight with every bone in my body to be successful. I don't care how long it will take but one day, I'll matter. Well, I'm still fighting but I'm doing very okay now!

For everyone fighting for their dreams right now and keep getting disappointed, please don't let it discourage you. Failure is part of success. Every disappointment, every NO, everytime things don't work out is for you to have a story to tell tomorrow. As long as you don't give up, as long as you're persistent, as long as you believe in yourself and your dream even when others don't believe… success will find you. And God will sit next to you and never leave your side. I wish you all well and I hope all your dreams come through."

Check out the teaser for Nnamdi Kanaga's 'They Chose The Sea'

Posted: 05 Jul 2021 04:00 AM PDT

The film centers on the story of the Igbo landing mass suicide of 1803 and is produced by Isreal McKinney Scott and Jennings Barmore.

The historical drama/thriller will follow the tragic story of the Igbo landing mass suicide in 1803 and the new teaser features a thrilling scene of a young man running into the wild till he stumbles on shackled slaves. Kanaga delivers an impressive monologue in Igbo.

According to Kanaga, the film will celebrate the bravery of the Igbo people while highlighting the great strength of the people who "chose the protection of their god and death over the alternative of life and slavery in a foreign land."

"This project is not a counter against the horrendous and cataclysmic effects of slavery upon black people in America (still going on till this very day), but a very conscious effort to showcase the strength and power of our ancestors as opposed to the predominant narrative of suffering and oppression often associated with films about slavery," Kanaga added. A fundraising call was recently announced by the director for the new project.

Posted: 05 Jul 2021 03:30 AM PDT

Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has taken o social media to make some clarifications  over claims that actress Iyabo Ojo was chided by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) for fighting for the rights of a minor allegedly defiled by actor Omiyinka Olanrewaju aka Baba Ijesha.

The 67-year-old spoke in a video uploaded to his Instagram page on Thursday, July 1 which he simply captioned 'CLARIFICATION'.

He also tagged members of the board of trustees of TAMPAN to the post.

"Neither was the conference against Iyabo Ojo's stand fighting for the minor, what we are saying is that Iyabo Ojo should desist from making derogatory remarks about TAMPAN and the Yoruba movie industry, you cannot because of one person condemn the entire industry. Baba Ijesha will be dealt with by the law," the father of three said.

House Of Reps Rejects Lifting Of Twitter Ban

Posted: 05 Jul 2021 02:30 AM PDT

The House of Representatives, on Thursday, July 1, rejected the lifting of Twitter suspension.

The rejection came while the House was considering the report of its Committee on the matter.

Recall that the House had mandated its Committees on Information, ICT, Intelligence, Justice and Orientation to investigate the circumstances of the suspension by the federal government.

At the consideration of the report, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Toby Okechukwu, suggested an amendment to one of the recommendations.

It states "That the Federal Government should take into cognizance the negative effect of the Twitter suspension on Nigerians who depend on the platform for their livelihood," and lift the suspension.

Seconded by another member, the motion was however rejected by the majority of the House when put to vote.

12-Year-Old Girl Dies From Condom Infection After Being Allegedly Defiled

Posted: 05 Jul 2021 02:00 AM PDT

Keren-Happuch Aondodoo Akpagher, a 12-year-old girl, died after being allegedly defiled in school by an unidentified individual.

The deceased minor died on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, after contracting an infection as a result of the alleged defilement. She was a student at Premiere Academy Lugbe, a boarding school in Abuja.

According to reports, the kid became unwell on June 16 and was unable to walk. Her buddies assisted the in writing her test while she was crying. She complained of an eye infection three days later, on Saturday, June 19, and called her mother to come pick her up for medical treatment.

According to a source, "The school would not release her but transported her to the clinic where her mother met her and facilitated her treatment.

Aondodoo was distraught when she learnt she would be going back to the school. Her mother called and texted the principal and the matron for over four hours asking for them to release her but they refused initially saying she will have to stay in isolation for seven days on her return. But they finally allowed her to follow her mother home.

On getting home with her mother, she took ill on Sunday night and was rushed to the hospital. On Monday, her condition had deteriorated and was rushed to the hospital. While examining her, the doctor saw a discharge, ran a test, and discovered that it was a c*ndom that was left in her.

Her urine test revealed dead spermatozoa and she died early hours of Tuesday from hyperglycemia triggered by sepsis resulting from the infection caused by the c*ndom in her.

Her mom picked her up on June 19 and she died on June 21. She slipped into a coma and died. She was traumatised. Her family demands justice as the school is trying to cover it up."

Her mom, in a chat with newsmen, alleged that three employees of the school had been dismissed for s*xual abuse.

DSS Confirms Attack On Sunday Igboho’s Residence; Declare Him Wanted

Posted: 05 Jul 2021 01:30 AM PDT

DSS goes after Sunday Igboho after recovering illegal arms and thousands of ammunition from his house.⁣

The Department of State Services (DSS) has declared Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, wanted.

The spokesperson for the service, Peter Afunnaya, while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, July 1, confirmed that the agency carried out the raid on Igboho's Ibadan residence in the early hours of Thursday, July 1. He said the service got intelligence that Ighoho had stockpiled arms in his house.

According to Afunnaya, DSS operatives came under heavy attack by nine men suspected to be his guards with six of them armed with AK- 47 and pump-action rifles. Afunnaya said during the exchange of gunfire, two of Igboho's men were gunned down while the rest were subdued and arrested.

He added that one of the operatives sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter.

He mentioned that items recovered during the operation include seven AK-47 assault rifles, 3 Pump Action Guns, 30 fully charged AK-47 magazines, 5, 000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 5 cutlasses, and 1 Jackknife.

"In the early hours (about 0134 hours) of today, 1st July, 2021, a joint team of security operatives raided the residence of Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo a.k.a. SUNDAY IGBOHO at Soka, Ibadan, Oyo State. This was based on intelligence that he had stockpiled arms in the place. On approach to the residence, the team came under heavy gun attack by nine (9) men, suspected to be IGBOHO's guards. Six (6) of them were armed with an AK-47 gun and Three (3) others, with Pump-Action riffles.

In the course of the exchange, two (2) of IGBOHO's armed men were gunned down while the rest were subdued and arrested. Only one operative who was shot by the assailants on his right hand sustained injury. He has however received medical attention and is very stable.

Afterwards, the team procedurally searched the house and subsequently recovered the following among others:

i. Seven (7) AK-47 assault rifles;
ii. Three (3) Pump Action guns;
iii. Thirty (30) fully charged AK-47 magazines;
iv. Five Thousand (5,000) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition;
v. Five (5) Cutlasses, One (1) Jackknife, One (1) Pen Knife
vi. Two (2) Pistol holsters;
vii. One (1) binoculars
viii. A wallet containing Five (5) US Dollars in one (1) Dollar denomination; local and international driver's licences in his name, ATM Cards, a German residence permit No. YO2N6K1NY bearing his name;
ix. Two (2) whistles;
x. Fifty (5) Cartridges;
xi. Eighteen (18) Walkie-Talkies;
xii. Three Voodoo charm jackets/traditional body armour;
xiii. Two (2) Laptops (One (1) Toshiba and One (1) Compaq); and
xiv. His International Passport and those of many others (as displayed here). Further exploitation and forensic analysis are ongoing.

Aside the items recovered from the building, about thirteen (13) suspects including twelve (12) males and one (1) female were arrested and brought to Abuja. While one suspect is being profiled, the other twelve (12) paraded here are:

i. Abdulateef OFEYAGBE
ii. Amoda BABATUNDE aka Lady K (female)
iii. Tajudeen ERINOYEN
iv. Diakola ADEMOLA
v. Abideen SHITTU
vi. Jamiu NOAH
vii. Ayobami DONALD
viii. Adelabe USMAN
ix. Oluwafelumi KUNLE
x. Raji KAZEEM
xi. Taiwo OPEYEMI and
xii. Bamidele SUNDAY.

Highlights of this brief are to inform Nigerians and the world that Sunday Igboho and his group, in the guise of a campaign for self-determination, have become well-armed and determined to undermine public order.

The arrest and seizures are no doubt confirmation of a grand plan by Igboho and cohorts to wage a violent insurrection against the Nigerian state.

Alert foreign missions and licensing authorities within and outside Nigeria about this development and the possibility that Igboho could declare some of his personal permit and identity cards missing in order to seek their replacement.

Apprise stakeholders that the Five (5) AK-47 assault rifles recovered from the building are suspected to be those collected by IGBOHO's men from Nigerian Customs and Immigration personnel at Idi Iroko, Ogun State

The gun duel which lasted for an hour offered IGBOHO the chance to escape. Sunday ADEYEMO a.k.a Sunday IGBOHO is now on the run. IGBOHO may run as far as he can. He may hide as long as he wants.

He might have attacked security operatives as his strength carried him. But this will be the end of his shenanigans. Soon, he will not have a hiding place. His strength will sure fail him. And the law will catch up with him. The law may be slow. But it will be steady.

Consequently, ADEYEMO/IGBOHO is advised to turn himself into the nearest security agency. Those cheering and eulogising him may appeal to or advise him to do the needful. He should surrender himself to the appropriate authorities. He or anyone can never be above the law. Meanwhile, those arrested will be charged accordingly"he said
