BBNaija: Toke Makinwa dragged for insinuating Michael touched Angel inappropriately

Media personality, Toke Makinwa receives heavy blows on social media after insinuating that BBNaija housemate, Michael 'fingered' Angel.

This is coming amidst the body-shaming crisis against Angel from her fellow female housemates, Maria inclusive.

In a tweet, Toke Makinwa may have subtly approved Maria's claim about Angel's 'prostitute' and flirty behavior with the male housemates as she insinuated that Michael fingered her.


"Thought you guys said I made it up, so who did Michael get his fingers into????? You gotta watch "The buzz" to find out," she wrote.

Toke's claim triggered reactions from fans who slammed the media personality for carelessly body-shaming her kind.

Actress, Onyii Alex —“It’s a sin for a broke man to say he’s in love with me”

Busty Nollywood actress, Onyii Alex has disclosed that a broke man who comes up and says he's in love with her, has committed a sin.

While taking to her Instagram stories on Sunday, the actress said it's okay for a man to just crush on her from a distance but as far as he's broke, his feelings should end there.

According to Onyii Alex, the goal is to have a man who's rich and hustling for her and not someone who will only feed off her money.


She wrote;

Actress, Toni Tones —“Learning Yoruba for ‘King of Boys’ was the most challenging thing I’ve done in my life”

Nollywood actress, Toni Tones has revealed that the most challenging thing she's done in life, is learning how to speak Yoruba in "King of Boys".

The beautiful actress recalled her role in the blockbuster movie "King of Boys", and said speaking Yoruba fluently was the main challenge she had at the time.

Toni Tones acted in the movie as "young Laburu" and had to exclusively speak in Yoruba as a young Oba.


Her revelation came after a fan of "King of Boys", tweeted on the actress' role in the movie on social micro-blogging platform Twitter, and Toni Tones replied under the tweet … saying it was her biggest challenge to date.

In her words;

"I had to learn it for King of Boys. Had no clue what I was saying for just if it. Dele Adetiba, @kemiadetiba's dad was my Yoruba tutor for King of boys. God bless that man for me. Learning Yoruba for KOB was the most challenging thing I've ever done in my life, but God won 🙏. "

Veteran Nollywood actress, Laide Bakare has finally broken silence on the circulated news and rumours of her fighting her colleague and bestie, Kemi Afolabi over Actor, Gida.

On Instagram, Laide referred to the rumours as silly talks as she stated that giving response to the rumour has become important for her.

According to her, phone calls and dms from friends and close ones made her come in public to say this because she initially only wanted to laugh it off.

The actress made it crystal clear that she'll never stoop so low to the level of fighting over a man in the Nigerian film industry.

"It has become important for me to respond to some very degrading and silly talks going round the social media about Laide Bakare fighting over some guy.
 
My initial reaction was to ignore this laughable story. But I have been overwhelmed by calls and DMs, hence I decided to put this out.

Just so we are clear: Laide Bakare WILL NEVER stoop so low to the level of fighting over a man in our industry.

The young colleague being mentioned, I have only met a few times, in the course of work, only at movie locations. Go get your facts rights. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

For the records, what I did recently was to respond to a female colleague that called me out rudely on social media instead of calling me over the phone personally . This fight over man stories are completely silly!

I've been in this industry for too long not to know my onions. Everyone knows I move and relate with everybody like we've known forever and that's the kind of love I carry around, because I don't discriminate.

You'd never see me claiming seniority in this industry even to those I brought in or trained because I believe God just used me as tool to project their career.
 
This will be the last I'd say about anything concerning anyone who thinks we are fighting. I am all about love and light and that's the grace I carry to everyone I meet because we are only opportune to be in the limelight and spread the the good of our career.

To my family, lovers and fans, I thank you all for the messages and calls but I want you all to know that Laide Bakare is all for love and I believe everyone has seen that. I love you all. Apple settles off developers in a bid to buy them off

Last May, we wrote about how Apple was in trouble as a number of developers sued the company over its iron-grip rule of the App store. It seems the company has now found a way out of its trouble by settling with some of the developers. It will pay about US$100 million in settlements in addition to making some much-needed overhauls to its store.

The not so good guys from Cupertino


When it comes to the tech giants, Apple has a somewhat different model which is all about control. They control almost everything and anything about their products and with each successive quarter, it seems they gain more control. They have always controlled the software and much of the hardware. With Apple Silicon, they control even more stuff.


One area of control however has sparked controversy. While control means well-designed and tightly integrated ecosystems they also run the risk of breaching monopoly rules that can be detrimental to small businesses that rely depend on you. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Apple's App store.


You cannot sideload anything in iOS without jumping through hoops. The company has absolute control over who can upload an app and what type of apps they accept. They even demanded a cut from your sales if you made in-app sales. They took as much as 30% of developers' sales revenue and most importantly made it all but impossible for developers to use other methods of accepting payments. If you wanted your App in the Apple App store you had to use Apple Pay.

Apple makes such big changes but


The settlement with developers is a big win for developers who played hardball with Apple. Not only will some of them actually receive payments ranging from US$250 to US$30 000, but Apple also promised some extensive changes to the way it does things:

    Apple now explicitly admits and permits developers to communicate with their customers telling them about alternative ways they can pay outside the ecosystem. This means for example you can email your customers telling them to make purchases through your website instead of from your Apple App.

    Direct purchases from your site need not include Apple Pay. This means for example, if a user installs Netflix on their iOS device they can then head to Netflix.com and make the payment there, comeback, login and enjoy their subscription. Prior to this Apple often found a way to penalise developers who did this.

    The company promised to make sure that search results returned by it's App Store will be based on objective data such as ratings, downloads and other ranking factors. Some people have always felt that the results are not fair. Spotify for example thinks Apple favours it's own Music App.

    Apple reduced it's cut to 15% for all those developers who earn less than US$1 million per year.

Despite all these concessions Apple still needs to do more. The biggest concession I would like to see is them accepting third party stores and sideloading to their platform. I am not saying they should make it easy or allow it to be done in an insecure way. They can say provide a code upon request that allows power users to install third-party stores or apps to their phones.

It would be a process where the power user has to take deliberate steps to achieve this kind of like the infamous 7 taps in Android.

Actress Tonto Dikeh - "finding it so difficult to breath"

Celebrity philanthropist, Tonto Dikeh cries out for help over breathing difficulties that struck her through the night.

According to the mother of one who recently found love again after years of being by herself, she woke up to the feeling of not enough air in her lungs.


Tonto Dikeh attributed it to COVID-19 due to a dry cough that accompanied the uncomfortable feeling whenever she tries to breathe.

Taking to Instagram to inquire if anyone has a similar experience, the Nollywood actress wrote;

"Finding it so difficult to breathe. I hope it ain't covid – – never had such a cough like this, literally wokeup gasping for air.. I will not use my money to service negativity ijn amen"

"Haaaa anyone understands what am going thru?" she added.

Burna Boy hails Omah Lay and Rema over their performances at O2 concert –“They made me emotional”

Pere breaks down in tears as Maria got evicted from BBNaija

Big Brother Naija, Season 6 housemate, Pere on Sunday broke down in tears after Maria was evicted from the reality show.

Maria was the third housemate evicted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the host, during the live show on Sunday.


Maria's eviction shocked housemates who thought she would survive the week.

Reacting, Pere broke down in tears after the live show.

Pere and Maria liked each other in the house although Maria turned down his proposal for a relationship.

Following Sunday's eviction which saw Maria exit the Big Brother Naija house, some of the Season 6 housemates like Michael and Pere broke down in tears.

Recall that Maria, JMK and Sammie were evicted during the live eviction show hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

Maria's eviction shocked viewers as well as housemates as she was perceived to be one of the strong contenders.


When approached by Angel, Michael, who was in tears after Maria's eviction, said he broke down because he's confused and shocked at how the show is going.

According to him, the show is becoming harder than he expected.
 
"I feel shocked, confused in this house.

"I know it's a game but don't know why I care this much.

"I didn't know it was going to be this hard," Michael said.

Angel consoling him advised him to be strong and play the game regardless.

It’s the end of an era as popular Usenet platform Newzbin shuts down

In the beginning, when there was only Unix, there was the internet and Usenet. Most people are only familiar with the web part of the internet. In fact, a lot of people think the web and the internet are one and the same thing. This is mentality is going to become even more pervasive and entrenched after one of the world's most popular and free Usenet indexers, Newzbin announced it was shutting down.

The history and reinvention of Usenet


You see before Vint Cerf came along with his magical idea of the web we now use and love the most popular way of interacting online was through a system known as Usenet. It was created in 1980-so it's about as old as our beloved motherland.


Unlike the web which relies on centralised servers, Usenet makes use of a distributed system of computers known as news servers that store and forward messages to one another using what are known as "news feeds" think of it as some sort of precursor to torrents. The files are even split into little bits to make transmission between computers easier.


The idea is to make sure there is no single point of failure. This system had to be resilient as it was created during the dial-up era. Users would dial up to the Usenet and be connected to available computers directly to "read the news". Usenet has contributed a lot to the web and internet we have today. It's where stuff like FAQ, news feed and spam were invented.


There was a time when, to speed up things, ISPs would also have a local cache of popular newsgroups on their own Usenet servers. Alas, those days are long gone. These days free Usenet servers and indexes are rare. You now have to pay for them. This is because Usenet has evolved into something else.

You see while the bulk of people prefer ThePirateBay and pirate streaming sites due to their ease of use, Usenet plays an important role in the piracy community. Those files you see on pirate sites are often re-encodes of high-quality files released by secretive release groups on Usenet. These files are called Remux. These prolific pirates and their followers have been a breath of fresh air to the Usenet community.

This is how it works:

    The release groups create a channel on the Usenet
    They upload stuff and share what are known as .bin files which are similar to .torrent files. These tiny files point to the various pieces of the actual movie or TV Show files
    Indexers collect and conviniently list these files
    Consumer pirates sign up for Usenet and use automatic tools such as Sonarr to pull the files to their computers

Believe me, while torrents are the most popular way to pirate files they are:

    Not nearly as fast as Usenet where Gigabit download speeds are quite common
    Not critical to the pirate world as Usenet is. Usenet is where the hidden world of distributor pirates and release groups operate. It's the home of the Scene.

While this is the main reason why Usenet still exists, it's also the reason why it's facing issues. Copyright grounds are painfully aware that while pirate streaming and torrents are a threat to their income curbing the effects of Usenet yields more devastating results. When a scene (release group) is compromised there is a massive drop in the number of pirated TV Shows.

Don't believe me? Check out what happened when the SPARKS group members were caught. New pirated content dried up on the internet. This meant in turn groups known to the public such as YTS had nothing to re-encode and push to the public too.

Newzbin was also one of the last good Usenet indexers that were not centred around pirate media. Unfortunately, even that did not save them from the menace of copyright holders who were determined to see them doomed. Its shutting down marks the dusk of the original Usenet era. Now Usenet will probably evolve into a full-blown alternative to torrents

Linux is not invulnerable, here are some top Linux malware in 2021

So yesterday I wrote about the latest iteration of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS coming out in my usual glowing terms. I feel like there was nothing amiss in that article after all Ubuntu, especially the version in question, is a stellar operating system that is rock solid and has served me well. A few people however decided to call me on my bias and asked me to publicly admit that there is no such thing as an invulnerable operating system under the sun.


So here is me doing exactly that. I think I should repeat that for emphasis: There is no such thing as an invulnerable operating system under the sun. I often say the best way to make your computer impenetrable is to shut it down and pulverise it thoroughly with a hammer. But even then who knows? I have seen FBI nerds in real movies pull information on a single surviving chip.

Why I think Linux is inherently secure?


What makes Linux better than Windows in my opinion is not just the open-source code that is reviewed by scores of experts around the world. It's the philosophy behind it all. In Windows, ignorant users can click around and blunder the way to productivity. The system is meant to be easy and fits many use cases by default. All you need to do is boot up, enter your password or just stare at your computer to login, get to the desktop and click on Chrome and you are watching cat videos.


In Linux, things can be but are usually not that easy. While you can use Windows without knowing what a registry is. In Linux, you have to be hands-on with your configurations. Every action you take has to be deliberate otherwise your risk breaking things. Often you have to set up your desktop the way you want, Chrome is not installed by default and sometimes you cannot even play videos until you install the right codecs. Linux forces you to learn and pay attention to what you are doing. You are often forced to learn why you are doing things in addition to how to do things.

Top leading Linux malware in 2021


Now that we have put the explanations out of the way it's time to look at some of the top Linux Malware in 2021. One thing to note is that cloud-centric malware dominates in Linux. There are probably a couple of reasons for this including:

    Linux rules the cloud. There is no other way to put it. This means there are more Linux cloud instances than the competition. Naturally that means more targets
    These targets tend to be more valuable that desktop targets. A company attacked by ransomware is more likely to pay than a dude in Harare.
    A lot of amateurs are sometimes forced to spin up instances without securing them well if they want to use cloud apps. Let us say you want to start a WordPress blog, most people just follow some How to guide without securing their server properly. Same goes with email server,s minecraft servers etc. Dudes who normally use Windows are to blame.

Below are the top malware in Linux according to Trend Micro

    Coinminners-there are several of these but basically the idea is to use your cloud/computer resources to mine crypto-currencies. You can identify these threats on Linux by checking resource usage constantly. Most coinmining software is greedy and tries to grab as much resources as possible to maximise the chances of making a profit
    Web shells-again they are several including ones that target Content Management Systems like WordPress. The idea here is simple the attacker wants to gain remote control of your machine. Most of the time the goal is to set up some relay server to send spam or to deface your site and put spammy advertising link that point to the attacker's website.
    Ransomware-for example they are Linux variants of REvil. The goal is to demand payment in return for data.
    Trojans-these are meant to steal data. Again they are popular with content management system attacks. Examples are scripts that are used to steal customer's credit card details.

One thing to note from the above is that unlike in Windows, Linux malware is often heavily customised by attackers to target a specific vulnerability and often each Linux system is unique. This means that it's rare to see one specific piece of malware dominate instead you have families of related malware.
How to protect yourself?

Again I am biased but I believe identifying and thwarting an attack in Linux is pretty easy. You have tools like UFW (or better yet iptables) to lock down your internet connection in ways that are unimaginable in Windows. For example, whenever I set up a new cloud server I simply block all non-Zimbabwean IPs by default. That alone removes 99.99% of the threats from the table.

Also, make it a habit to uninstall software you don't need. Better still when installing make sure you only install the base operating system with as little stuff as possible. You can then add only just the stuff you need. Why install Apache on a Minecraft or mail server? Do you really need FTP? If not stop and disable the service via ssh.

Above all. Always check the logs. Always. Check resource usage too and see if it tallies with what you expect.

BBNaija Season 6: Queen Revealed Requirements For Future Husband

For her future husband, Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye housemate, Queen, has revealed some requirements.

The philanthropist made this known on Saturday, day 35 of the show, while cutting off the back of yam and potatoes with the help of Cross.

According to her, her future husband must be rich because she likes to buy nice things for herself.


While doing her chore, she said, "Future hubby, hope you're watching me. Wife material 200 yards.
 
"I can be anything you want me to be. I can be your wife and I can be your boss a*s b*tch. I'm sure you're already seeing that. I can be everything you want.

"So baby, keep my ring so that when I Get out, you pop the question."
Stating her requirements, she said, "you better be rich though. I really love wearing good things. I'm not materialistic but at least I like good things."

With her outburst, she has clearly ruled out the options that her husband may be one of the housemates even as she has declared her interest towards some of them.

Queen has been in a web of emotions since she got into the house as she declared interest in three male housemates.

During the live show last Sunday night, the show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, asked Queen about her connections with Pere, Boma, and Whitemoney.

The 26-year-old beauty queen went on to reveal that she likes Pere because he's tall and broad, Boma because he has chiseled abs, and Whitemoney because he is light-skinned.

Big Brother Naija season six (6) housemate and former Wildcard, Pere, has revealed that he is beginning to like and admire long time rival, Hazel Oyeye Onou, popularly known as White Money, despite their previous clash.

Pere made this known to Whitemoney during Saturday night's old school party with fellow Big Brother Naija season six housemates.

As the party was hitting up, Pere walked up to Whitemoney and told him that the more he gets to know him, the more he gets to like him.

It can be recalled that White Money and Pere turned to bitter rivals in the house after series of intense misunderstanding.

It all started when Pere sidelined Whitemoney from cooking duties, citing that he is using the kitchen as a strategy to stay relevant and avoid eviction in the house.

Their rivalry hit a boiling point when Pere was adjudged to have attempted to bully and provoke Whitemoney in the middle of the night.

Pere and Maria are currently not on the same page, their entanglement started as wildcards but they couldn't bond well due to an unknown factor because we all expected to be together.

Grammy Award-winning singer, Burna Boy has said he sold out his London concert at the 02 Arena alone by himself, at prices he wanted.

Recall we reported, Burna Boy made a grand entrance to his show at the 02 Arena, by arriving in a Spaceship as thousands of fans jubilated wildly.

However, taking to his verified Instagram page hours ago, the singer bragged about the prices of the tickets and how his show eventually sold out.


Burna Boy wrote on his InstaStories;

"I SOLD OUT the 02 by myself. At the prices I wanted. Never talk much, Just show Action! "

Kylian Mbappe To Take Zidane’s Iconic Shirt Number At Real Madrid

Real Madrid have reserved Zinedine Zidane's iconic No 5 shirt for Kylian Mbappe, according to AS.

The LaLiga giants are confident of signing the player from Paris Saint-Germain, despite a second bid of €180million being knocked back by the Ligue 1 club.

Mbappe currently wears no 7 for PSG and no 10 for France.


But Real have reserved their no 5 shirt for him, as Eden Hazard wears no 7 and Luka Modric has taken the no 10 shirt. .

Mbappe has always dreamed of playing for Real Madrid and previously named Zidane as his childhood idol.

Therefore, the opportunity to wear the club's iconic No 5 will appeal to the French international.

As it stands, the No 5 shirt currently belongs to Jesus Vallejo. But the club will pass it on to Mbappe, as Vallejo is unlikely to be a regular first-team starter this campaign.
