Intern for a Day - Fall 2021

The University Career Center's popular Intern for a Day program has historically connected UMD students with alumni, parents, and employers for in-person job shadowing experiences to explore potential career fields.

In-Person Orientation
All in-person orientations are held 12-12:30pm in the University Career Center, 3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing
October 11 | October 13 | October 14

How to Search for an Internship or Job Workshop on Monday, October 4th from 12:00-12:45 pm!

Are you searching for an internship or job and not sure where to begin? Or, have you been looking for opportunities and feel like you're at a standstill - unsure about the next steps in your search?

In this session, we will discuss:
  1. Specific resources available through campus and externally to help you find internship and job opportunities in various fields and industries.
  2. Ways to stay organized in your search.
  3. Quick tips on making a positive first impression on resumes and during interviews.
  4. Strategies to connect with professionals (including UMD alumni!) working within your intended career field of interest.
This workshop will be conducted in-person on a monthly basis in the University Career Center & The President's Promise at 3100 Hornbake Library, South Wing. The next workshop will take place on Monday, October 4, 2021 from 12:00-12:45 pm. If this date doesn't work for you, check out the UCC's events calendar for future offerings.

Information Sessions for New Information Science Minors Offered at Shady Grove

Hello everyone! Consider joining the UMD Infomation Science program to learn about their two following newly launched academic minors (NOTE: both minors can be completed online and are open to the UMD students at the College Park and Shady Grove campus locations):
The Information Session will be held virtually on Monday, October 4, at 12:00 PM. If you are interested in attending, RSVP at https://go.umd.edu/UMD-SG-Minors

If you are not interested in pursuing the full minor but are interested in taking individual minor courses, that is a possibility as well (you will need to work with your Academic Advisor to make sure these will count towards your main degree).
