Simple steps to start living a positive life

Posted: 19 Dec 2021 03:30 AM PST

We all desire to live a positive life, but only a few actually take the necessary steps to achieve it.

A positive life is different from a specific want or need. If you want things like money, a job, or even a person, you might have it, but it's not in your control.

On the other hand, positive life is something we can control from within because no matter who you are or what you do, you can live a positive life. Below are some simple steps to help you let go of negativity and start living positively.

1. Control your mindset
You might not know, but most of our actions and reactions are controlled by our mindset. For example, if you wake up every day with an alarm clock going off and you feel frustrated, or you get an adverse reaction, it's because you have interpreted the idea of waking up as a bad thing.

So, when the alarm blares, your mind connects it to something negative.

Changing your mindset can take a lot of time, but it can help you stay positive once you do. It is a simple step that can be done with the right thoughts. For example, instead of waking up negatively, you can simply remind yourself that waking up is a regular occurrence and even be excited to start the new day.

2. Focus on what matters
Don't be indifferent about everything; that is not the right way to live. Instead, meticulously choose what you want to give your time and energy to. Of course, there will always be positive and negative occurrences in your life, but you are responsible for how you react to these situations and what you should focus on.

Most people waste their time caring about redundant things like a comment on social media or a co-worker talking behind your back. Unfortunately, when you waste time thinking about these things, you miss what's really worth your time, and you'll never be able to win in all areas of your life.

3. Learn to say No
Do you find yourself saying yes to every request from that loyal friend or your partner just

because you don't want to hurt their feelings? If so, you're not living a positive life. As ironic as it may sound, saying no when necessary can save you from a lot of trouble. Rejection and criticism are supposed to be accepted in a healthy and honest relationship, so if that person cannot accept no for an answer, maybe they're not right for you.

2. Grasscutter Faeces
The droppings of a grass cutter are used by some people to prepare soup. It is believed it makes the food smell good and it is also highly nutritive.

3. Dog meat

4. Snakes
Apparently, snakes taste like fish. They are well-seasoned, roasted or fried. People aren't afraid of the fangs and venom, neither are they afraid of the cold blooded slimy animal.

9. Palm weevil larvae
After harvesting palm wine from the palm tree, the tree is left to rot and later produces some kind of big worms popularly known as "Akokuno". These worms are roasted and eaten as a delicacy.

10. Grasshoppers
Hunting grasshoppers is a favourite pastime for children in rural areas. They can be fried, boiled, salted, or sun-dried.

15. Mopane worms
Native to South Africa, mopane worms are large caterpillars which are considered as good source of protein. You can find the black worms in fried, dried or roasted state, being sold in local village markets in Nigeria. They can be eaten roasted or used in soups and stews.

Tips that can help you battle addiction problems

Posted: 19 Dec 2021 02:30 AM PST

The fact is, the world we live in is drenched with numerous addictive substances. And just like it is for most people, the first step to fighting addiction problems starts with the individual.

Turning to substance abuse and drug addiction can be considered a weakness by some individuals, but it doesn't have to be. Addiction is a grave problem that affects many people, and the worst thing about it is that once you are addicted to something, it becomes hard to get rid of it.

The condition keeps getting worse and slowly chokes your life out. However, there are ways to battle addiction problems.

Understanding the Problem
When someone is battling an addiction problem, it is important to understand the problem fully. This helps the rehabilitation process a lot and makes sure that the person gets treated properly.

There's a saying:

"People with alcohol use disorders have spent more time with alcohol than they have without it, and they typically have strong feelings about stopping."

This shows how important it is to get to know the problem before battling an addiction.

Ask for Help
When dealing with addiction, it's a lot simpler to seek help than most people believe. That's because you can only beat addiction by asking for help.

This is what makes so many people fail at beating their addictions. They want to fix the problem on their own, but they don't know how to do that. They shouldn't consider it shameful to work on this problem. For example, if someone is battling drug addiction, they should not disregard the idea of drug rehab because they are terrified of what others would think. They don't believe they can change until they admit they need help with addiction. And this is critical to recovery.

Finding a Support Group
Addiction is a disease that can be overcome, but it's also a disease that rears its ugly head again and again. This is why support groups are so valuable for addicts looking to stay sober. There are many different types of support groups for recovering addicts, for those who are at-risk for addiction, and for family members and loved ones of addicts.

Go on a Break
When you battle addiction, you need to understand that recovery is a life-long process. It's not something that you can conquer once and be done with it. Recovering from a drug or alcohol addiction is one of the best ways to build a stronger, more meaningful life.

That's why going on a break when battling addiction is so important. You need to take a pause in your recovery process and address any outside issues that might be causing you stress.

Exercise
Exercise can help you stay sober. The actual explanation for this is debatable. There are many theories: it helps you focus and distract yourself from your cravings; it releases endorphins; it increases the production of dopamine, which is the neurotransmitter responsible for addiction.

Be Patient and Persistent
Addiction is a disease, and like any other disease, it requires patience and persistence to win the battle. When it comes to battling addiction, people are always looking for a quick fix. They want to find something that will change their lives in five minutes. The truth is, you can't quit cold turkey and expect everything to work out perfectly right away.

It's possible to face addiction problems and win, but it requires a strong commitment. If you are dealing with addiction, or if you know of someone who is, we hope these tips are of help.

Simple and stylish ways to style your crocs

Posted: 19 Dec 2021 02:00 AM PST

(Be part of the cool kids that wear their crocs everywhere!) If you're a lover of comfortable shoes, you'll definitely like this post.

Especially when you just want to go hangout, chill or just go for a comfortable look.

If you want to up your personal style, then here are five ways to style your crocs:

Splash of color

If you're really artistic and willing to go all out on your pair of white crocs, then get a bucket (preferably an old one), tape of any areas you don't want the paint to get on, clean the areas you want to dye on your crocs with a wet towel, this is to make sure surface dirt don't get in the way.

Take your plastic bucket outside and fill it with water, but not too much, then apply your latex paint spray in the water (whatever color you got is cool), make sure you apply your spray directly in the middle of the water.

Slap on gloves, to keep the paint from getting on your hands, then dip your crocs in.

Hold it upside down at a -45 degree angle, by the edges of the soles.

Continue to lower the shoe until it's completely submerged

Hold the shoe under water for 5-10 seconds, then remove and let your shoes air dry for 24 hours.

If you want to take it a notch higher and want the paint to last, then get a can of clear-coat aerosol fixative designed for acrylic paint, shake the can, hold eight inches away from your dyed crocs, and spray on.

Leave to dry for 3-5 hours.

Customize your crocs with the crocs jibbitz charms

You know those little characters you see on crocs?, well you can have them too!

Crocs charms are like accessories that take your crocs game to the next level.

And the most amazing thing is that they come in literally all shapes and characters

For the anime lovers who want their movie persona to come alive for them, they can add this to their accessory pack!

Even if you want to add a little (or a lot!) of jewelry to your crocs, you can also get them as charms.

So next time you're shopping for a pair of crocs, just ask the seller to add in a pack of this for you, and simply pop them in the holes designed on the shoes.

Style your crocs with a pair of socks

Wearing a pair of socks in your crocs really elevates your look. Not only is it really comfortable but stylish as well, you can pair it with either a long or short sock, a pair of shorts and a graphic tee, and you're set to go. Adding a baseball cap to this look gives it all the edge you need to look laidback but stylish at the same time.

Here are foods that cause Heartburn

Posted: 18 Dec 2021 10:00 PM PST

Do you have this burning, painful sensation that occurs in your lower chest area and progresses toward your mouth? You have heartburn. Heartburn is a common symptom that can happen to anyone irrespective of gender or age group. Some people with heartburn can also have a sour taste in their mouths.

Heartburn is the most common symptom of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), a disorder that occurs when the stomach contents regurgitate back into the esophagus. However, if you experience heartburn frequently, it is not because you have the disease; certain foods you eat can cause heartburn. Below are some foods that are known to cause or escalate heartburn.

1. Mint

Species of mint, like spearmint or peppermint, can improve digestion. However, they are proven to cause heartburn. If you experience heartburn after consuming mint or any product containing mint, you should consider removing it from your diet.

2. Foods with high fat

Do you get heartburn shortly after eating fries or pizza? High-fat foods are a significant cause of heartburn, especially greasy foods. Studies are still finding links between fatty foods and GERD, but fatty foods worsen heartburn by letting your body secrete substances that irritate your esophagus.

3. Chocolate

Ingredients in chocolate like caffeine and cacao increase esophageal exposure to acid and trigger heartburn. It is unclear if totally cutting off chocolate will benefit people with heartburn, but it has been proven to reduce symptoms in some people.

4. Spicy foods

Of all the foods that cause heartburn, spicy foods top the list. Spicy foods can irritate an already inflamed esophagus, which may cause heartburn or worsen existing heartburn symptoms. If you are a regular consumer of spicy foods and get the burning sensation in your chest every time, try to cut down your consumption and see if your symptoms subside.

How to naturally reverse premature grey hair

Posted: 18 Dec 2021 09:30 PM PST

If you don't eat sufficient amounts of the foods that are rich in vitamin B6, your hair will lose its natural colour. In this article, we are going to discuss how to reverse gray hair naturally.

Gray hair is sometimes assumed to be a sign of honour when it occurs too early. But that is not the case, as it could be that your diet is either lacking in nutrients or an indication of other health issues.

And if it is nutrient you are lacking, the importance of vitamin B6 cannot be overemphasized. Because as one of the B-complex of vitamins, vitamin B6 can help keep your hair from graying.

On the other hand, if you don't eat sufficient amounts of the foods that are rich in vitamin B6, your hair will lose its natural colour because it assists a cell inside the hair follicle to produce melanin. However, vitamin B6 is known to be found in proteins such as liver, egg yolk, organ meats, and vegetables and in whole grain cereals.

Another important factor that should be considered when it comes to correcting minerals and nutrient deficiency is diet.

And a truly healthy diet eliminates processed foods along with all artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives, MSG, GMOs, trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, and refined sugar. It limits caffeine. It includes healthy fats rich in omega 3s and plenty of pure water.

However, if it is an indication of other health issues, the following are the possible cause of the condition

• Celiac disease

When people with celiac disease eat gluten (a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley), their body mounts an immune response that attacks the small intestine. These attacks lead to damage on the villi, small fingerlike projections that line the small intestine, that promote nutrient absorption. And when the villi get damaged, nutrients cannot be absorbed properly into the body.

Celiac disease is hereditary, meaning that it runs in families.

Nevertheless, within weeks, a gluten-free diet may result in hair darkening even years after going gray.

• Endocrine imbalance

Each gland of the endocrine system releases specific hormones into your bloodstream. These hormones travel through your blood to other cells and help control or coordinate many body processes. Therefore, an imbalance in the system can easily lead to this condition.

However, balancing hormones may result in hair darkening within months. And studies have shown that hormones can be balanced by reducing stress level, getting enough sleep at night, eat more omega-3 fatty acid, maintaining a healthy diet. You may also want to avoid taking caffeine

• Pernicious anemia

Pernicious anemia is a condition in which a person's red blood cell count is low because of a vitamin B12 deficiency. And for the record, a lot of people died from this condition before doctors learned that pernicious anemia could be treated with vitamin B12

How to use onion juice to reverse premature gray hair
Apart from the fact that studies have shown that daily onion juice applied topically can reduce and reverse greying and regrow hair, it is known to most people that onion juice has been used for centuries to treat thin graying hair and alopecia.

Onion juice has many benefits to the hair follicles
Onions are rich in sulphur and other compounds that are great for killing infections (which include some fungal infections), germs, parasites; and all these can cause hair loss.

The juice in onions is also known to remove hydrogen peroxide buildup and reduce inflammation while providing enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and other nourishment to regenerate the hair floccules.

However, to reverse premature gray hair with onions juice, apply the onion juice daily to your scalp and lightly massage or brush it in. Leave the onion Juice on the scalp for 30 minutes to one hour.

Here are Foods you should never eat after a workout

Posted: 18 Dec 2021 09:00 PM PST

You just returned from a long run, or you just hit the gym, and you need a snack to regain all the nutrients you've lost, but you don't know what to eat. While you're wondering what to eat, knowing which food to stay away from is equally as important. Below is a list of foods you should stay away from after a workout, no matter how you might be craving them.

1. Raw vegetables

Yes, you read that right. Although raw veggies are essential to a balanced and healthy diet, they are not good post-workout foods. This is because you have just lost a lot of vitamins and minerals in the exercise and raw vegetables aren't enough to supplement them.

You need extra fiber and protein to replenish your lost nutrients and build muscle, so low-calorie foods like veggies are not the best option. Even if you take raw vegetables after working out, ensure you balance with foods high in fiber and protein like yogurt, peanut butter, and carrots.

2. Milk chocolate

Many people find themselves craving something sweet post-workout, but this is because they've lost sugars during their workout, and their body wants more. Ignore this urge because milk chocolate and other sweets consist of bad fats that are hazardous to your health.

If you're craving something sweet after your workout, take fresh fruit like an apple instead or if you really want that chocolate, take dark chocolate. Dark chocolate contains a plethora of antioxidants that act as an anti-inflammatory and fight free radicals in your body.

3. Fast food

This is an obvious one, but it is worth mentioning. Like sugar, your body also craves salt after every workout because it needs replenishing in your body. You might be tempted to grab fries or a burger, but they are detrimental to your diet.

You won't be adding the right kinds of salts to your body; instead, you'll be adding a large dose of trans-fats and rendering your workout useless. Logical alternatives are bananas or avocados because they both have healthy fats and enough calories to satiate your hunger.

4. Soda

The artificial sweeteners in soda make you bloat, so you should avoid soda at all costs after a workout. You are sure to feel dehydrated after a workout, but soda only makes things worse. The best way to hydrate is to drink water. If you want to add flavor to your water, consider adding some fruits like coconut.
