Nigerian singer, Davido has revealed how he had a serious clash with his father, Adedeji Adeleke over his choice of music over school.

According to the singer, his father went to the extent of trying to stop him from attending his shows and calling the police on him to get him to go back to school.

Davido made this revelation in his interview with US podcast, Purple music.

"I wasn't in school. I was facing music full time and over the years, he found out that I wasn't in school and there was a whole lot of drama. I left school. I went back to the city and then my dad was chasing me with the police.

Yes, they (the police) were coming after me to go back to school. Any show he (my dad) saw me on, on a flier or whatever, he was shutting the show down", Davido said.

He however added that he had since settled with his father and he now had a degree.

"I moved back to Nigeria and then, he wanted me to go back to school. Because he was like, ' After School, you can go back to do the music and blah blah blah. Just get your degree first'_ which I have gotten. Thanks to God," he said.

He said his father allowed him to embark on his musical concerts afterwards.

"Then I dropped this song, Dami Duro and the song became so big that even the president was singing it. Even people my dad could not get to, was singing it."

Where does Lagos rank on list of most livable cities in the world?

Posted: 04 Dec 2021 06:00 AM PST

Damascus in Syria is the least livable city in the world, but Lagos is not far behind.

Annually, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) carries out a research on 140 cities to find out the world's most livable and least livable cities.

The EIU, in its 2021 Global Livability Ranking categorised Lagos as the second least livable city in the world after it measured the urban quality of life in the aforesaid cities based on assessments of stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.

The least livable city in the world as revealed by the report is Damascus, Syria and other countries in the bottom 10 of the 140 cities assessed are Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea; Dhaka, Bangladesh; Algiers, Algeria; Tripoli, Libya; Karachi, Pakistan; Harare, Zimbabwe; Douala, Cameroon; and Caracas, Venezuela.

According to the report, Lagos was rated 20.8 on Stability; 41.0 (Healthcare); 36.8 (Culture & Environment); 25.0 (Education) and 32.1(Infrastructure).

"A consistently low stability score, owing to ongoing civil unrest and military conflicts, is the reason behind most of these cities featuring in the bottom ten. However, conditions have deteriorated even further as a result of COVID-19—particularly for healthcare," says the EIU report.

It is no surprise that Lagos is part of the least livable cities in the world with traffic, high crime rate, high cost of housing, poor drainages, environmental pollution, and a host of infrastructural challenges.

On the contrast, Auckland, New Zealand, ranked number one among the ten most livable cities in the world.

Osaka, Japan is the second most livable city followed, in order, by Adelaide, Australia; Wellington, New Zealand; Tokyo, Japan; Perth, Australia; Zurich, Switzerland; Geneva, Switzerland; Melbourne, Australia; and Brisbane, Australia.

The EIU claimed the rating in its global livability report was given based on the assessment of expert analysts and in-city contributors.

Here are 5 things guys should never tell their girlfriends

Posted: 04 Dec 2021 05:00 AM PST

Comparing them to their exes is one.

Obviously, not all guys assert these things, just the smart ones.

In a healthy relationship, communication and honesty are two values that come before all others. However, there are a number of things guys are not to say never tell their girlfriends.

Here are five things guys should never tell their girlfriends

1. "Stop being dramatic"
Trust me, most ladies find this statement offensive. Just leave them to vent, they will figure it out. If you think they are overreacting. Just give them the space to fume out.

2. "You behave like my ex."
No one wants to be compared to an ex unless the ex is a model.

3. "You'd look better if....."
For real, how insensitive can you? No one needs to be reminded or have their body flaws put on their face neither should one suggest something to improve how they look. End of story.

4. "You've gained weight"
A word to the ladies; you have to love a guy who doesn't mind if his bae gains a little relationship weight, but smart of him to not mention it.

5. "You look really different in the mornings."
This is kind of insensitive to many ladies. Who even wakes up in the morning looking freshly showered with a full face of makeup?

Nigerians have lauded legendary actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo after he weighed in on the ongoing case of a 12-year-old Dowen student.

Late Sylvester Oromoni, prior to his demise, was a student of Dowen College, Lagos.

He was allegedly beaten to death by his schoolmates over refusal to join a cult group in the school; a claim which the school debunked.

According to the school management, late Sylvester died after sustaining an injury while playing football.

Following a heavy uproar on social media, Lagos State Government intervened and shut down the school indefinitely.

However, veteran actor, Kanayo is insisting that shutting down the school alone is not enough justice for the poor 12-year-old boy who lost his life in a painful way.

In a video shared via Instagram, Kanayo called on Governor Sanwo-Olu to look into the matter and ensure that the late boy gets the justice he deserves.

In his words;

"Dear Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, after the EndSARS protest has been fought, you have another challenge on your hands.

The case of the 12-year-old Sylvester, your son cannot be swept under the carpet. It is not enough to shut down the school. Do not, your Excellency, do not allow people take laws into their hands.

It is something that should be brought to book immediately. Thank you Excellency"

Simi’s mother speaks – “Too many sad stories of children maltreated”

Posted: 04 Dec 2021 02:00 AM PST

Mother of Nigerian singer, Simi, has advised Nigerians to stop being wicked to their staff, so their children wouldn't copy bad traits.

Jedidah, in her recent tweet, condemned parents who are extremely protective and do not allow their children take correction from other adults.

In her words;

"Too many sad stories of children maltreated by teachers & fellow students. Why are people so wicked to children? Some adults are still doing same to their housemaids & staff. Please, change your ways & stop being wicked. Those of you who did it in the past should ask for mercy.

Some students learn wickedness from home from the way their parents treat their domestic staff. They see their parents treat their staff less than human & these kids took this mentality to school to deal with those younger or weaker than them. Parents, please show good example.

Parents, have a good relationship with your children so they can quickly speak up when they are being molested by a teacher or fellow students. Find time to ask them questions that will make them open up. Attend their Parents/Teachers meeting and be observant.

When your child complains please listen. I removed my daughter from FGGC & she became a day student when I realised she didn't like it. What works for one child might not work for another. Stop using other people's children to determine what is okay for your own children. Listen.

Parents, pls don't stop going to your children's schools when they enter university. Our kids now go to Uni at a young age so we still need to be up & doing. Check on them, encourage them & advice them & check out their friends. Trust them into the hands of God but do your part."

Father of late Dowen College student, Sylvester speaks on the incident – “My son suffered”

Posted: 04 Dec 2021 12:30 AM PST

Father of late Dowen college student, Sylvester Oromoni has broken silence following the death of his son.

During an exclusive interview with TheCable Lifestyle, father of the late student said:

"My son suffered. His birthday is next tomorrow (Dec 4). I'll celebrate it. I'll have a cake baked. I'll cut it on his behalf. The boys they mentioned were also reported to the school last term when they bullied Junior and collected all his foodstuffs; clothes. I have two daughters, one of whom earlier graduated. I had to remove the second after this incident. They asked this boy to describe the sister's body and this got to us."

Oromoni's family revealed Dowen had temporarily suspended the boys involved after the family's eldest son took it up. He said Junior was also switched to a new hostel but the bullying and intimidation persisted into the new term.

"They put fear in him so much so that, when you ask him, he might keep to himself and say, 'they will kill me'. This way, we didn't know what to do. I considered removing him reconsidered since his sisters were still in the school. The new incident came to my knowledge on November 21st after the school called my wife to notify us that our son was in the school clinic, injured. My senior son, who was to make a London trip, came to see us in Warri," he said.

"The next day, we sent a family friend to help pick up our son since he was the only person in Lagos and take him to the hospital. When he got there, he panicked, pointing out that he doubts it's a football injury as the school claimed. He said the boy couldn't stand because his waist was bent and swollen along with one side of his belly. His mouth was black. I asked, 'is this really a football injury?' He was taken to my house in Lagos but couldn't sleep at night.

"I asked my eldest to fly to Lagos on November 24 while I took a trip to Asaba, from where I'd also make for Lagos. On getting there, he screamed. 'This is beyond football injury. Come to Lagos now,' he told me over the phone."

Oromoni also stated that the family flew the deceased to Warri where blood tests and an x-ray were conducted. He said Junior also underwent typhoid/malaria treatments but his mouth started peeling in excess of malaria drug side effects.

The bereaved said the deceased only managed to sleep one hour when sedated and would wake up screaming in pain. The father added it was on November 29, when he was away for a government function, that Junior "opened up".

The father said Junior suffered liver enlargement due to congealed blood. He said, before he could make a return trip to Warri towards facilitating Junior's transfer to the teaching hospital, the boy drew what became his last breath.

It was also claimed that Junior was fed a liquid substance described as "a chemical" for refusing to join the group.

Oromoni alleged that the principal frowned at him for releasing the deceased boy's picture to the press. He said she had premised her argument on the deceased being a minor. He also said he looks forward to an autopsy, arguing that Dowen should be more concerned about going after the boys Junior had named as his assailants before death.

The boy's father said:

"They even released a press statement. Was the principal there when the boy played the said football game? Can they identify who he played with? Where was the housemaster when he was playing it? The woman too is confused. Clearly, she's trying to protect the school's image. But a mother of children wants to hide the truth?"

They threatened to kill them all if they spoke a word to the school staff. They warned Junior to say he sustained injuries while playing ball. They threatened him. If you ask the roommate, they'd all lie. They matched his ribs and waist. All that pain for a 12-year-old."

Ini Edo breaks silence about welcoming a babygirl, opens up about her baby’s father – “I had her through surrogacy”

Posted: 03 Dec 2021 10:30 PM PST

Nollywood actress, Ini Edo has finally reacted to viral reports that she welcomed a babygirl through surrogacy.

In a recent interview with Blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus, Ini Edo confirmed the report as she revealed she's proudly the mother of a babygirl.

Speaking on the identity of her baby's father, Ini Edo said she opted for a donor father because she wouldn't want any controversy in future between her daughter and father.

Read excerpt from the interview below;
*******
– Ini, you recently allegedly welcomed a child through a surrogate mother. Can you confirm it and tell us why you chose this path? Please also tell us if you used your eggs as well.

*******
Wow! Here we go Stella.. Yes I do have a daughter and I had her through surrogacy. The Eggs are mine and so genetically she's my blood. I chose this path to fulfil my dream of becoming a mother. I still have a good number of eggs frozen in case I decide to do surrogacy again or carry my baby myself .who knows.
******
-Tell us about your baby's father.
****
I opted for a donor for me and my baby's peace of mind. Another major reason I opted for a donor is because it scares me so much when I see banter and controversies between a mother and a father over a baby in public forums or when I see the man insisting he wants his child if things dont work out between both parties.. For me it's the fear of what that would mean for the child .Ideally, its marriage then children but we are not living in an ideal world.

I am not someone who allows any situation to control me. I make lemonades out of lemons thrown my way and have no regrets. Life itself is so fragile and short to be striving for perfection. I am well and capable of taking care of my own child as I've been taking care of myself .I wanted a child and thank God for the options of surrogacy and donors…
*******
-Were you avoiding talking about her?
*****
No i was not, I was hoping to talk about her on her 1st birthday in a few months but mischief makers beat me to it and spoilt the beautiful story with lies. The sad thing about this is dragging an innocent man Into something that has absolutely nothing to do with him.

Stella, I naturally make friends better with guys than women.. I do have a few female friends dont get me wrong but i relate better with people who are older and way more experienced in life than i am."

Popular skit maker, Mr Macaroni gives an update on his colleague, Abdulgafar Ahmad Oluwatoyin better known as Cute Abiola who is currently in the custody of the Nigerian Navy.

Recall that Cute Abiola was arrested by the security arm for violating and breaching the Armed Forces of Nigeria social media policy.

The Navy revealed that the matter is an administrative one and is being treated as such.

However, following weeks in detention, Mr Macaroni in response to numerous questions as regards the condition of the online comedian, took to Twitter to assert that he's still in detention and can only be seen by his wife and mother.

Macaroni further noted that he doesn't want to speak much on Cute Abiola's case so that his statement wouldn't be taken in bad faith.

He wrote:

"A lot of people have been asking me about Cute Abiola. I don't have much information as only his Wife and Mother are allowed to see him. And I do not want to speak much on the matter so that my statement isn't taken in bad faith. But last I checked he is still in custody.

His wife told me personally that she and his mom are granted access to see him. The Nigerian Navy has said that he is in custody for breaching some codes and refusing to obey order. As a military officer, he is answerable to their command and under their jurisdiction.

This isn't a new thing in the Military. But as a public figure, Cute Abiola has millions of followers worldwide hence the reason for the consistent concern from his fans and friends.
We can only continue to send our best wishes to him."

Jonshel was among 4,000 Louisiana natives who were auditioned before director Benh Zeitlin for lead roles.

She starred alongside popular child actress, Quvenzhané Wallis, who played the title character in the movie Annie.

Director Zeitlin, on Wednesday, described Jonshel as an "absolute one-of-a-kind, unforgettable, force-of-nature human being."

The filmmaker added: "We incorporated a part into the film that was very much inspired by her.

"A lot of the lines were written by her, and so much of the character grew out of who Jonshel was. Her character in the film is named Joy Strong, which always seemed like a perfect description of Jonshel.

"She was a really bright burning light."

His most-streamed body of work still remains 'Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps' with over 58 million streams. This is the artiste's debut album released in 2019, and this can be considered as the work that set the pace for the recognition he now enjoys.

His most recent single titled 'Peru' has 14.9 million streams, topping all other songs from him. Currently, Peru remains his most-streamed single.

The Afropop star's sophomore album, 'Apollo' which was released in 2020, and featured instant hits including 'Champion' and 'Tattoo' has also currently amassed over 57 million streams on Boomplay, propelling Fireboy into the Golden Club.

According to Boombuzz NG, Fireboy is the second act to cross the milestone after Burna Boy. Others on the list include Olamide, Joeboy, and Omahlay.

Also, his music has been included in 1884 playlists, listened to in 107 countries around the world on Boomplay alone.

What this means for Fireboy

The numbers matter a lot in the music business. If for nothing at all, it inspires the artiste and his team to do more and better, considering the number of people who listen to his work.

What this means is that we can expect more quality work from Fireboy, even better than the magic he's already creating.

On another hand, numbers translate to money in the music business. The more he gets, the better for him. While he serves us great content, having his numbers skyrocket, he also rakes in the money from the streams.
