Confused about options for staying and working in the United States after graduation?
Worried about the H1B quota? Is it true that OPT has been extended to 2 years? Any changes to CPT? We are pleased to sponsor a seminar presented by an experienced immigration attorney. Topics will include a detailed discussion of the H1B visa, which is the most popular work visa in the US, Optional Practical Training (OPT), and options for pursuing permanent residence through employment. In addition, our speakers will provide practical strategies for talking to employers about work visa issues during interviews.

Apply to Work for UMD's Summer Bridge Program

Applications are now being accepted for qualified students seeking to work with UMD's summer bridge program.

Program Dates: Sunday, June 26, 2022 - Friday, July 29, 2022.

There are several positions available with varying payments and time obligations; see the attached position announcements for more detailed information and requirements.
  • Math Instructional Assistant
  • Writing Instructional Assistant
  • Math Tutor
  • Writing Tutor
  • Residential Peer Leader

Interested applicants are asked to submit an application (which includes both a resume and cover letter) at the following website: https://go.umd.edu/uTERPstaffapplication. Applicants are welcome to apply for more than one position, however, a separate application, resume, and cover letter will be required for each position of interest. The priority deadline to apply is Sunday, March 13, 2022 by 11:59pm.

The SECU MD Foundation understands that furthering your education can open doors and provide for a brighter future. We are proud to support the next generation of professionals through our Scholarship Program. Now in its 16th year, we are awarding $115,000 in scholarships to members attending a 2 or 4-year college, university, trade, or technical school for the fall 2022 semester for either undergraduate or post-graduate work.

We are accepting applications now through May 8th, 2022. You must be a member to apply. The application includes a 500 – 750 word essay on the prompt.

Career Exploration through Self Assessment (TODAY - 3/1/22)

Are you struggling to identify your skills? Wondering how you can locate careers that relate to your interests? In this session, we will use FOCUS2, a self-assessment tool offered by the University Career Center, to identify your natural strengths.

Attend this session to:
  • Review your FOCUS2 results and examine how your results relate to career path options.
  • Identify your key interests and strengths.
  • Develop a plan to explore/learn more about career paths of interest.
BEFORE THE SESSION: Complete the Work Interest Assessment, Personality Assessment, and Values Assessment in FOCUS2 to make the most out of this small group workshop.
