Learn more about prestigious UK and Ireland Graduate Fellowships

If you think you may have these strengths and aims, and would like to learn more about competing for a chance to spend 1 or 2 years studying at a major university in the United Kingdom (Rhodes, Marshall, Churchill, Gates) or Ireland (Mitchell), contact Francis DuVinage at duvinage@umd.edu for an individual appointment to learn more about these scholarships. ELIGIBILITY: For the Marshall, Gates, Churchill, and Mitchell programs, you must be a US citizen; Permanent residents and DACA students are eligible for Rhodes Scholarships; you must be a current Junior, graduating Senior, or recent graduate; a GPA of 3.7 or significantly higher is required for Marshall, and strongly recommended for all other programs. UMD Nomination is REQUIRED for all programs, except for the Gates-Cambridge Scholarship.

NOMINATION PROCESS: To apply for a Rhodes, Marshall, Churchill, or Mitchell scholarship you MUST be nominated by the UK/Ireland Post-Graduate Fellowships Committee of the University of Maryland, College Park. Details of the nomination application requirements are available from the National Scholarships Office. The deadline to apply for UMD nomination is August 1.

Amazon-UMD Design Challenge

Join Amazon's first-ever Design Challenge at the University of Maryland and receive a share of up to $5,000 in prizes!

Prizes include a $2,500 first-place award, $1,500 second-place award, and $1,000 third-place award

Challenge Introduction

Collaborate with other undergraduate students and work closely with industry leaders at Amazon Design to redesign a platform, app, or product to be more inclusive to meet customer needs.

No experience necessary and no specific major or GPA requirements! Click here for more information and other eligibility requirements.

Challenge Dates
  • Monday, March 14: Information session 1 and prompt reveal. Students who can't attend the 1st information session can attend a 2nd shorter recap session on Tuesday, March 15 at 6:30 PM EST. Please RSVP to receive a link!
  • Friday, March 18: Registration deadline for all participants
  • Saturday, April 2: Final 10-slide PowerPoint deck or five-minute video submission
  • Wednesday, April 6: Finalists invited to present at Amazon Day
  • Friday, April 8: Inaugural UMD Amazon Day and 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners announced
The Amazon - UMD Design Challenge is co-organized by Amazon and the Center for Minorities in Science & Engineering in the A. James Clark School of Engineering.

Alumni Association Scholarships

The Alumni Association will be awarding 33 scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year.

All current students who have completed one semester at the University of Maryland College Park and will be enrolled full time (12+ credits for undergraduate students and 48+ units for graduate students) during both Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters are eligible to apply. Scholarship award recipients will receive $1,000 each semester.

All applications are due by Monday, March 28 by 11:59pm EDT.

Open Now: Summer 2022 Impact Intern Positions

Summer 2022 Impact Internship positions are now open! Impact Interns is a professional development and leadership program that links passionate students like yourself to project- and social impact-based internship opportunities with alumni and partners of the Do Good Institute.The program exists to support both our students and partners who want to make a difference, now.
