The Screen Diva also stated that she had never been punished for her sister's wrongdoing.

Kehinde Bankole — Why Acting Involves Brainwork, Not Only Good Looks

Posted: 17 May 2022 06:00 AM PDT

Newcomers in Nollywood should be ready for the intellectual work that comes with the glamour of the industry, actress, Kehinde Bankole has stated.

The actress whose acting prowess was heavily made known in Netflix's 'Blood Sisters' said this known during an Instagram Live session hosted by Kunle Afolayan on Thursday, May 12, 2022.

She said, "Don't see acting as a career you can come into when all other careers are not working for you. (Perhaps), you have been told that doctors and lawyers are more professional than actors, so you decided to start acting because you couldn't cope in other fields. Acting is not just about looking good; it involves a lot of intellectual work. You have to think on your toes, otherwise, you would become irrelevant."

Speaking further, the award-winning actress noted that being able to sustain relevance is where the real work lies.

"Being able to sustain relevance is the real work, being able to make it pay your bills. Stumbling on fame doesn't happen like that for people every time, like the case of Olajumoke the bread seller. There are people whose stories are like that but it's usually one out of every five hundred."

Bankole also emphasized the importance of getting formal education before coming into the industry. She added, "Nollywood is gradually becoming structured, yet you are your own insurance. You have to create everything yourself. Getting a formal education in this area will be good. That way, if you don't know what exactly you are coming to do in the industry since it is quite broad, you will know what you are never going to do. If you are trained, you will know your area of competence. You cannot just guess or gamble with it."

I didn't bath or change my outfit just go make you happy and you still did this!! Trying to spoil my brand, I have worked with celebrities and I have never had issues with any. Fear God!! "Big Brother Naija Housemate,  I Now Know Why Lots Of Nigerians Failed Waec & Jamb Multiple Times. – They lack comprehension of the English language. My entire look is worth over 100k USD"  & "I paid over 100k USD for my entire look.

These 2 sentences are clear as day light with a burning Sun and definitely have different meanings, but Nigerians already filled with vile temper from many personal disappointments in their lives and h8te for my  #AMVCA Look gave the same meaning to these very distinct sentences.

Perhaps, it's because I said if you don't have up to 10K USD in your acct you shouldn't comment on my AMVCA Look. Ya'll expect me to not br0ke sh@me H8ters who have no problem furnishing my comment section with unsolicited insults? Una never see anything.

Cultural story of dreadlocks

Posted: 16 May 2022 09:00 AM PDT

Dreadlocks in the modern day are worn by many and in many variations.

Today, dreads are mainly seen as a form of beauty and adornment, whereas they hold significant meanings across history. Thus, they should be regarded as more than just a fashion statement.

The origin of locs is widely argued and its foundation is not crystal clear; many countries are of the opinion that dreads were a part of their culture from the beginning. Researchers, however, have streamlined the origin of locs to a few countries that may have been the earliest link to dreads based on archives and archeological evidence.

Researchers say that dreadlocks can be traced back to the Egyptians; this is based on the mummified bodies studied. It is said that the Pharaohs wore dreads once they attained victories in certain areas of their lives; the locs symbolized power.

In the Minoan era, in 1500 BC, in Crete, which is now modern Greece, wealthy noblemen were said to wear locs. The then government made it mandatory for Spartans to wear dreadlocks.

The Ethiopians also wore locs; it was as a form of revolt against the Italian invasions. Haile Selassie, the crowned emperor in 1935, was exiled. The followers of Selassie made a vow not to cut their hair until Selassie was restored as their leader.

In Hindu culture, one of the holy gods of Hinduism, Lord Shiva, was known to have clean dreadlocks. His locs depicted power, influence, and omnipotence. Followers of this god keep dreadlocks as a show of tribute to Lord Shiva.

Every culture and religion have many reasons for wearing dreadlocks; one thing that is, however common to all is that the wearing of locs confers a form of power, supremacy, and omnipotence.

It is believed that dreads gained more ground after Bob Marley, the Jamaican reggae artist became popular for his dreadlocks.

This means you get to see many more of these primates and some of them could just be a few feet away from you.

However, you'll have to pay a steep price for this convenience. A permit costs $1500 USD per person, the highest cost anywhere on Earth. And only 96 permits are issued each day, so you have to book in advance.

3. Congo

Congo is one of the best places to get up close and personal with gorillas. The impressive primates are the biggest attraction there and the chance to see them up close is something you'll never forget. Gorilla tracking is not cheap here but anyone who wants a unique African adventure should go to Congo to see these amazing creatures.

4. Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)

Among the most well-known destinations for a gorilla safari is the Democratic Republic of Congo, home to both mountain gorillas and lowland gorillas. Unlike Rwanda and Uganda, DRC is not so visited, thus, it has the added benefit of being less crowded with tourists. Permits in the DRC are also relatively inexpensive, costing roughly $400 USD per person.

5. Central African Republic

If you want to see gorillas in the wild, consider making your next trip to the Central African Republic. This African country is a top destination for gorilla trekking and has fewer tourists than other countries in Africa, making it a great choice for a more authentic wildlife viewing experience.

The most popular site to see gorillas is Dzanga-Sangha Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Apart from gorilla trekking, another activity that's popular here is observing the elephants at the nearby waterhole.

He still reportedly helps people with their bags dressed in his 60s uniform and then disappears.

2. Poveglia Island, Italy

The thought of visiting a small island off the coast of Venice probably sounds fascinating. Well, wait till you hear its story.

Poveglia Island served as a quarantine home for people afflicted with the bubonic plague. They were basically sent there to die. The site was later converted into a mental asylum during the 1800s. Those patients were tortured and experimented on.

Today, Poveglia remains totally abandoned and completely off-limits to visitors. The locals often report screaming voices from the Island and have also reported seeing dark, fleeting shadows roaming the grounds.

3. The Castle of Good Hope, South Africa

This castle was built in the 17th century and it is South Africa's first European building. Some paranormal activities have been reported from the castle.

A mysterious woman called Lady in Grey was reportedly often seen running around crying hysterically holding her face. Lady in Grey has however not been sighted since a woman's body was found during excavation.

Another unexplained event is the ghost of a black dog that pounces on unsuspecting visitors and then disappears into thin air.

4. Taj Mahal Palace, India

This five-star hotel is located in the heart of Mumbai in India with amazing views and interiors. Despite its grandeur, the hotel had an aura of mystery. The building's architect was said to have jumped to his death from the fifth floor of the hotel after he discovered the hotel was facing the wrong direction. His ghost now roams the halls, running into guests and walking around the rooftop.

The Tower of London is not only one of the city's top tourist attractions, but it is also considered the most haunted.
