Reasons why women lie about their virginity in relationships

Women lie about this to impress men, plain and simple.

Apparently, there are still women who lie about their virginity in relationships.

For a long time, it has been a thing for women to be rated marry-able majorly by the presence of an hymen. In ancient Yoruba culture, virginity was so important that whole communities were said to have stood outside a new couple's hut on their wedding night while they went in to consummate the marriage.

The groom would triumphantly hold up a white sheet stained with the evidence of his bride's 'completeness' and the whole community would erupt in gladness at the sight. A lack of it meant the bride was 'incomplete' and it was both a shame on her and her family.

It didn't particularly matter if the woman was of good character, an industrious nature or anything of the sort. If she wasn't a virgin, she just was no good, plain and simple.

Similar traditions existed in other parts of Nigeria, Africa and even in Asia where as recent as year 2010, a report in China explains how hymen restoration procedures were being performed on young women in their 20's who wanted to get married. The report said they had to have it intact as it was one condition that men were particular about.

Very obviously, society and religion's long-standing emphasis on the chastity and abstinence of women from sex before marriage is one reason why virginity seems to remain such a big deal, even now.

Christianity preaches sexual purity [Ex. 22:16-17, SOS 2:7] and even Prophet Mohammed [P.B.U.H] explains in a Hadith that there is a special reward for both the girl that marries with her virginity intact and her parents/guardian.

But the most relatable reason why women would lie about virginity is the importance they think men attach to it.

Plain and simple.
Because there are still guys who go around seeking virgins, babes have resorted to lying to maintain that idea of being 'pure' and 'untouched' because they also want to get married. And fast, obviously, as no babe wants to be caught unmarried on the wrong side of 30, another ridiculously overrated desire which society needs to help people outgrow.

According to Dayo, a young Lagos bachelor, women lie to be virgins because they want "to appear to the guy that they have been innocent and that they are wife materials."

Nurudeen, another Lagos Bachelor, 29, adds that "some do so to give the man the impression that they are decent.

"Some guys actually give hints of their preference for a virgin, and a smart babe will just play along with that narrative if she actually likes the guy," he says.

Some men also fear that non-virgins have body-counts that can't be traced, unlike virgins, whose absence of body count is obvious and ascertainable.

This is actually a cycle of absurdity. First, because virginity can be lost through other ways apart from sex, eg: strenuous sporting activities.

So being a non-virgin is not particularly a confirmation that she's loose, just as virginity is not a sign of being chaste and modest.

Hello, have you heard of anal sex at all?!

And the fact that a babe's cherry got popped via sexual intercourse does not mean she has slept with everyone in the city.

Most importantly, guys really need to realise that there are other things to seek in a relationship than the presence of a hymen.

Guys, would you rather have a lady with terrible personality and a hymen or someone great and amazing without one? The way to determine a good woman for you surely has to be better than this, no?

Having said that, women also need to realise that lying to a guy about anything is a wrong, especially if it's something fundamental to the existence of that relationship in the first instance.

If you lie about your virginity to keep him interested in you, you'd have started the relationship on a wrong note, and while a surgical restoration might fix you a new hymen, it won't do anything for the guilt you'll feel for being dishonest.

Neither will it fix the disappointment and other reactions he'll have if he ever finds out that you tied him down with fake virginity.

We'll be the first to admit here that it's a bit ridiculous that some men won't marry anyone but virgins. At the same time, their absurd need will not make your dishonesty right. So if he wants a virgin and you're not, just walk away instead of lying to him about it.

There are men whose respect for women is not limited to the presence or absence of a thin piece of skin guarding the vajayjay.

Get you one of those men and build happiness with him.

Why it is difficult for men to forgive when women cheat

One reason for this is that men are rarely prepared to be cheated on.

Somehow, women seem to be.

Men are famed for being unforgiving when they find out that they have been cheated on. And this is quite ironical, given how men are still believed to be the worse cheats of both genders.

It needs to be said that women cheat, too. And there seems to be an increase nowadays in the number of cheating women. But the major thing that separates a cheating man from his female counterpart is in the ability of the latter to cover her tracks. Women have come to be known as great concealers of their tracks.

When a woman is cheating on you, you will never know, goes the word on the street.

Whether you are a man or woman, whether or not you are discreet and careful, every cheat runs the risk of being caught. That risk can only be reduced, it never goes away.

So why do men never forgive when they catch a cheating partner?
Amaka Nicholas says in her column "Amaka's Diary," published on The Sun in March 2018 that:

"An average Nigerian man sees forgiving a cheating wife as a weakness.

"It doesn't matter if his behavior pushed her into it or it was just a moment of weakness.

"To a man, infidelity questions his sexual prowess, an offence against his manhood, threatens his masculinity, and affects the core of his identity.

"Men react negatively to their wives' infidelity because the sexual component of the affair is very important. Just the image of another man thrusting his woman in her favourite position and she moaning in ecstasy drives him nuts."

Another reason for men's refusal to forgive cheating is that men are rarely prepared to be cheated on. The shock is there when a man finds out that his babe or wife has been cheating on him.

This is unlike women, many of whom believe that the possibility is always there at the back of their minds that their man would cheat. Therefore, many are rarely surprised when they find out.

For them, it's a confirmation of a fear they've always nursed.

Tiwa Savage Deletes Instagram Posts Again

Pop diva Tiwa Savage has deleted several of her Instagram photos and videos leaving only four posts and this will not be the first time.

A check on Tiwa Savage's Instagram account on Thursday, May 19 revealed that most of her photos and videos are no longer visible on the social media platform.


This is coming after actress Genevieve Nnaji deleted all her Instagram posts and unfollowed everyone on the platform.

Recall some years back, Tiwa Savage deleted her posts leaving only 3photos, then a few days after deleted them all. Her fans claimed she wanted to start afresh. The Somebody's Son crooner returned 2months after, explaining to her fans that she needed a break.

Other celebrities like Sammie Okposo, Toyin Abraham, Caroline Danjuma, Mercy Johnson among others have also deleted many of their posts on social media, in a bid to start afresh after being trolled or moving on from a former lover.

Tiwa who is currently on a music tour as part of the promotion for her Water and Garri EP has been posting videos and photos from the concerts on Instagram.

The songstress's hit song 'Somebody's Son' from the EP Water and Garri which features American singer Brandy has received international recognition since its release, It also became an anthem for Nigerian women and Tik Tok users who continued to make videos with the songs.

On October 23, 2021, the mother of one announced that 'Somebody's Son' had reached five million views on YouTube.

The Barbadian singer and fashionista is said to have given birth on the 13th of May, 2022, in Los Angeles according to TMZ's source.

This comes barely a month after Rihanna's boyfriend was arrested in the States following a shootout by Asap Rocky with an acquaintance while on a vacation trip.

Following the leak of the secrecy of their child's birth, the celebrity couple, however, is yet to confirm the reports, nor have they hinted at the name of their child.

The mother of four in what seemed like a comic post expressed displeasure due to her N50 that was deducted while stating that she wants to resort to burying her money in the ground.

Yvonne Nelson Laments – Jackie Appiah Turned Me Down When I Needed Her For A Role In My New Movie

Veteran Ghanaian Actress, Yvonne Nelson has explained why Colleague Jackie Appiah is not part of her new movie.

The Screen Goddess is currently on a media tour promoting her soon-to-show movie titled "Fifty-Fifty".

In an interview with Media personality, Nana Romeo on Accra FM, she was asked why actress Jackie Appiah wasn't in any of the movies she has produced.

According to the Yvonne, her plan to feature Jackie in her 'Fix Us' movie did not see the light of the day.

The movie star said when she reached out to Jackie, she turned her offer down by claiming she had other plans.

However, Yvonne was quick to add that she was fine with Jackie's decision.

"The job is about priorities. Sometimes I may have a job, and it's paying really well, but I have something more important."

"I guess this is what was the case for her, but I don't even remember but I think it was on WhatsApp text messaging I used in getting in touch, but if you ask me, she turned me down," she said.

"When I was about to shoot 'Fix Us' I reached out to Jackie because I wanted to make Yvonne Okoro, myself, and Jackie Appiah main characters. Just as I made this movie, "Fifty-Fifty. I gave her enough time but you can't just sit around as a producer.

"I called her on the phone, and I told her, and she said she would be on set around the same time, but I don't know what happened. I guess she had other plans," she added

Just recently, Princeton tagged Kanye on his insta story, saying he should call him that they need to talk.

According to him, The Rap Star then sent him a DM after listening to his song, 'Unguilty pleasure', through the link in his profile page.

The excited Nigerian artiste shared screenshots of the message he received in which the rapper said that he has prospects to be a star and asked the country he is from.

Lady cries out as her relationship of ten years crashes

A lady identified as Queen Ijeoma Emmanuel has broken down in tears while opening up about her crashed relationship.

In a video making rounds online, she revealed that it has been three weeks since her relationship of ten years hit the rocks.

Veteran Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola has described herself as a humanist rather than a feminist.

The 51-year-old actress, who stated this in an exclusive interview with Premium Times, at a movie set in Lagos, said feminism is a toxic ideology. 

"My passion for the girl-child and the women does not make me a feminist; I am a humanist.

I don't like this feminist idea because I think there's a focus on this wing of feminism that is extreme. It's toxic. I don't want to be part of that. I want us to realize that you care about humans if you say you are a humanist.

That means every individual: boy, girl, woman, man; everybody. My niche is the women and the girl child because there is so much to do concerning this issue in Nigeria."

NOLLYWOODTIMES recalls Actress Iyabo Ojo recollected how her senior colleague Bimbo Akintola got her into the movie industry by introducing her to veteran actor Keppy Bassey.

Iyabo narrated this in a video posted on Instagram while speaking on her journey to Nollywood.

According to the mother-of-two, watching Bimbo Akintola's performance in the movie Out of Bounds motivated her. Iyabo said she reached out to Bimbo who gave her several tips on acting and introduced her to Keppy who helped in getting her first role.

Nigerian entrepreneur and businessman who chairs the Cubana Group, Obinna "Obi" Iyiegbu, better known as Obi Cubana has cried out, saying that someone is using his name to scam people.

Earlier there was a viral Tweet on Twitter purportedly from Cubana asking tweeps if they will accept 10million naira loan to pay back N20M after two years.

Reacting to the tweet, Obi Cubana stated that he is not on Twitter and someone has been using his identity to scam people. He captioned on Instagram:

Actress Bimbo Akintola Condemns Feminism — It Is Toxic

The Nollywood thespian described herself as a humanist, not a feminist. She said her passion is for the girl-child and women.

"I don't like this feminist idea because I think there's a focus on this wing of feminism that is extreme. It's toxic. I don't want to be part of that. I want us to realize that you care about humans if you say you are a humanist."

BBNaija: Organisers Announce Date, TV Channels, Time For ‘Shine Ya Eye’ Reunion Show

MultiChoice Nigeria, the organizers of Africa's biggest reality show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), have announced that the BBNaija Season 6 'Shine Ya Eye' Reunion Show will begin June 2, 2022.

The BBNaija Reunion show is done as part of preparations for the commencement of another season of the reality show, and fans will once again get to see their favorite 'Shine Ya Eye Geng' on their DStv and GOtv screens.
