JUST IN: APC NWC aligns with northern governors on power shift, counters Adamu's announcement

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) says it will align it's position with the thoughts of governors of the party on power shift to the South.

The National Organizing Secretary of the APC, Sulaiman Argungu, stated this at a media briefing on Monday.

According to Argungu, although Abdullahi Adamu, APC national chairman, had announced Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party's consensus candidate at a meeting of the committee on Monday, the NWC stands with the governors on zoning the ticket to the south.

"We were fully briefed by our national chairman, senator Abdullahi Adamu. He did brief us that Senate President Ahmad Lawan is our consensus candidate and it is just the information he gave us.
It is not an issue that has been discussed on the floor of the NWC," Argungu added.

APC National Chairman Adamu made the announcement at the National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman reportedly announced the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan as the party's consensus candidate.

This came following President Muhammadu Buhari's call for a consensus candidate.

President Buhari ahead of the party's presidential primaries, had on Saturday night had a meeting with presidential aspirants from southern Nigeria.

In a statement credited to Buhari's media aide, Femi Adesina, the president had adviced the aspirants to come up with a consensus candidate ahead of the party's primary slated to hold this week at the Eagles Square, Abuja.

"Without prejudice to your qualifications, I urge all of you to hold consultations amongst yourselves and with the party, with a view to building a consensus in a manner that would help the party reduce the number of aspirants, bring up a formidable candidate and scale down the anxiety of party members," the president was quoted to have said.

The president's advice came on the heels of the decision of Northern governors of APC, who had asked him to pick a southerner as his successor.

In a twist of events, on Monday, June 6, 2022, the party Chairman, Adamu announced Senate President Ahmed Lawan as the party's consensus candidate.



According to reports from TheNation, the Party Chairman announced this at the meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja.

More than 40 worshipers were massacred on Sunday, June 5th, 2022 at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-Luwa Street, in Ondo State.

According to media reports from different platforms, the worshipers were killed by unknown gunmen while others reports said it was an explosion.

However reactions has continued to trail the dastardly act.

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has answered to Reno Omokri, former presidential aide, after he likened her to presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tonto via her Instagram page on Friday, June 3, 2022, dragged the former presidential aide.

"Renoo Atiku's houseboy. Twitter fingering from exile. If your mummy born you well come to Nigeria. Always on the wrong side of history," she wrote.

 "Look at the difference your mate Peter Obi is creating rather you are here fighting young girls with bigger dreams than being a bingo to oga. I'll come back to give you a reply when Peter Obi wins. As for now I'll let you run your errands."


Omokri had via his Twitter page on Friday, June 3, 2022, called out the presidential aspirant over his recent comments about the president, Muhammadu Buhari.

"Tinubu is just behaving like Tonto Dikeh and Nkechi Blessing. Like a woman who was promised marriage and jilted, and is now exploding and exposing the jilter. Buhari don buy market. He must either builds another 'other room' for Tinubu, or marry him as promised!" he tweeted.



Nkechi Blessing, Nollywood actress did not spare Omokri as she also took a swipe at him over his tweet.

"Like a woman who was promised marriage and jilted...can you imagine...all your daughters will used and dumped @renoomokri so next time you see me waka pass," she replied.

Reno Omokri's tweets had come on the back of recent comments credited to Tinubu.

"All I am saying is that it is the turn of the Yoruba speaking people to become president and within the Yoruba people, it is my turn," Tinubu said during a recent campaign event.

Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor, has condoled with his Ondo State counterpart, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu(SAN), the State Government, and the people of the state, over the attack and killings of worshipers at St. Francis Catholic Church at Owa-luwa Street, Owo, Ondo State by suspected gunmen, Sunday.

OWO ATTACK: SANWO-OLU COMMISERATES WITH AKEREDOLU, ONDO PEOPLE


Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commiserated with his Ondo State counterpart, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi (SAN) and the State Government, over the attack and killings of worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church at Owa-luwa Street, Owo in Ondo State by unknown gunmen on Sunday.


Governor Sanwo-Olu, who described the attack as callous, inhuman and despicable act, also sympathised with the people of Ondo State, especially the residents of Owo, Governor Akeredolu's hometown and members of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa.


Sanwo-Olu in a condolence message issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, condemned the attack by the gunmen, saying it is crime against humanity to open fire on worshippers on Sunday morning killing scores of people.

The Governor, who also commiserated with the Catholic Church of Nigeria and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the ugly incident.

He said: "On behalf of the government and people of Lagos State, I commiserate with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Ondo State Government and the entire people of the State over the tragic loss in the state caused by the attack and killings of worshippers by the evil men this morning.

"Attacking a congregation and shedding innocent blood during a divine service in the temple of God is condemnable as it is a crime against humanity. It is barbaric, callous and despicable crime for any man to attack and kill worshippers or any fellow man in a manner the yet-to-be-identified gunmen carried out the heinous crime in the Catholic church on this morning. 

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, families and the Christian community and the people of Owo as well as the entire people of Ondo State, who are affected by this unfortunate incident."

Pere, Ex-BBNaija accuser threatens to release his tape with 1st lady of Kogi State

The accuser of Pere Ex-BBNaija housemate has threatened to release his tape with the first lady of Kogi State, Rashida Bello.

Recall that a Twitter user, Jackson Ude, alleged that Pere was in a romantic relationship with the first lady.

The said Ude in a recent tweet shared via his Twitter page on June 2, 2022, threatened to expose Pere's alleged relationship with the Kogi State first lady. 


 "Who the hell is #BBNaija Pere Egbi? They better advise him to keep quiet. If I hear or see my name on his mention again, I will release the video and damn it. I deleted earlier tweet because senior officials pleaded. But if he wants to flex muscles with me, try me!" he tweeted.



Pere had threatened earlier to deal with the Twitter user Ude, after he alleged that the BBNaija star was in a romantic relationship with the first lady.


 


 

 

 

 

Owo Catholic Church attacked, worshipers killed, President Buhari condemns act

According to emerging reports today 5th of June, suspected terrorists has been reported to have attacked St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The report across various media platforms has it that the terrorist entered the church and opened fire at worshipers , killing several of them.

The incident occurred according to reports,  less than 200 meters away from the Olowo of Owo Palace.

The Ondo State Police Command spokesperson Funmilayo Odulami however confirmed the development to Channels television, but disclosed that details of the incident would be given later.


The image maker also said all security apparatus has been dispatched to the area to restore calmness.

Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has condemned the heinous  act. The Governor made this known via his Twitter handle:
