Netflix boss now among Russia's blacklisted Americans

Russia in the bid to retaliate to America economic sanctions against her for invading Ukraine, has added additional 61 names to her list of blacklisted Americans.

According to media reports Tuesday evening, the list was updated and published on Monday, June 6, 2022, by Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs who fingered Netflix's co-CEO Reed Hastings.

The Netflix's Executive has now joined over 1000 politicians, entertainers and moguls permanently banned from entering any Russian territory.

Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement stated that the U.S. nationals were blacklisted

"in response to a constantly expanding list of sanctions imposed on Russian politicians and public figures, as well as representatives of Russian business."

It could be recalled that Netflix shut down its Russian operations shortly after Ukraine's invasion.
The withdrawal from the market reportedly cost the streamer 700,000 subscribers.

According to the Russian list nicknamed Russophobia, notable personalities in the list include President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and actor Morgan Freeman.

Freeman's ban was a big trend on the social media with fans ridiculing Russia over its decision to ban the actor.

The ban of Freeman was also traced to a 2017 Committee to Investigate Russia video which accused Russia of continued attacks on America's democracy.

The list also included deceased politicians such as former Senator John McCain, R-Ariz.; Senator Harry Reid, D-Nev; and former deputy director of the Defense Intelligence Agency Melissa Drisko.

Infinix, the Hong Kong-based company, came into being in 2013 by the parent company of iTel Mobile, Transsion Holdings. The company is giving Tecno a run for its money as it rose to the second in terms of market share in 2021. It controls 21.01% of the market share, and as of March 2022, it maintained its second position with an increase in market share to 23.45% (a 2.44% rise). The growth of the brand's market share could be due to the signing of TV star Miss Roseline Afije (known as Liquorose) as the brand ambassador of Infinix Hot series phones.

Launched in 2006 in the country, Tecno has become a force to reckon with in the smartphone industry. The Chinese mobile phone company's target was Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation. The company gradually became popular when it introduced double sim handsets. Double sim handsets allow users to operate their phones without swapping sim or buying another phone. Therefore the company developed dual sim phones to solve the problem.

As of 2017, the brand held the market share of 14.77%, which placed it second to the unknown brand smartphones. The Big Brother Naija's 'Shine Ya Eye' reunion was in it's day three and a lot is already happening.

All the ex-housemates were in their best with great Ebuka at the coordinating chair brimming with smiles as usual.
