Soludo wants Odumeje to pay for the cost of demolishing his church

The controversy regarding Anambra Pastor Chukwuemeka Ohanaemre (alias Odumeje) has deepened as the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has said the embattled would bear the cost of demolishing a part of his church building.

Speaking in Awka on Friday, Soludo said the state took time to send several notices to all landlords whose houses were marked for demolition to remove such structures.

He added that two Catholic churches - St . Dominic Catholic Church and Our Lady Queen Catholic Church are still awaiting demolition.

In his word: 

It is costing us money. They had several notices to remove such structures, but they refused.

The demolition started on Thursday, and so far, so good. The demolition went well, except for Pastor Odumeje, who, according to the report, drove in, in a brazen manner and attempted to take over the equipment.

Of course, state work must go on, and security had to stop him. This was a man who was in the several meetings we had and also spoke.

In fact, this is costing us money, and the structures should have been removed before now, but they choose to test the resolve of government.

Once we are done with this exercise, we will compile the bills and send them to the persons involved, and they must pay."

Prof. Solude said that the parish priest of Our Lady Queen Catholic Parish was around when the demolition team arrived and cooperated with them.

He frowned at Pastor Odumeje's actions in attempting to stop the exercise.

Kuje Prison Break: Fleeing Boko Haram suspects arrested by Nasarawa police

The Nasarawa State Police Command just announced the arrest of one of the fleeing Boko Haram escapes. Mr. Hassan Hassan, whose name was published recently by the Kuje Custodial Centre as one of the escapes in the Keffi Local Government Area of the Nasarawa State.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed this to journalists in a press statement on Saturday in Lafia.

Ramhan said: 

The fleeing Boko Haram suspect was recaptured by the eagle-eyed police operatives of the command in Keffi LGA of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi, has ordered for the transfer of the suspect to a safer location while intensive search for other escapees and handing over process of the arrested inmate progresses.

CP Soyemi appreciates the efforts of the command's police operatives for a job well done and assures members of the public of the command's unrelenting efforts at making the public space safer for all.

Actor Chris Pratt apologizes to Adesanya

"Guardians of the Galaxy" movie star Chris Pratt has apologized to UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. The apology came as a result of Pratt's criticisms regarding Isreal's performance during last weekend's UFC 276 fight with Jared Cannonier.

Pratt was one of the celebrities who graced the July 2nd fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. After the match, Adesanya emerged victorious, defending his title for the fifth time. Despite his victory, many critics tagged the match as dull and boring.

However, Adesanya won the fight in a unanimous decision, with the judges having no trouble scoring him the winner in all rounds. Pratt, on his side, joined the critics to roast the Nigerian-born champion. He said the Last Stylebender boasted but could not live up to expectations.

Pratt said disappointingly after the match,

I'm gonna say this as humbly as I can, as a guy who never stepped in the Octagon. I don't know this game; I'm just an actor. But I'm not a fan, man. I'm not a fan of coming out, like, all that talk and then just kind of putting on a little bit of a pitter-patter.

I'm like, 'Come on, man! Cash on that!' You've got to cash that promise of being so bad**.

Isreal Adesanya did not spare Pratt as he responded on Wednesday on Twitter by posting a clip from the movie "Wanted" and wrote:

Good morning. I'm the man. You're just some fan.


In that clip, Pratt was the character named Barry, a man that was smashed in the face with a keyboard by Wesley, another character. Before Barry was hit with the keyboard, he asked Wesley, 'Who's the man?'

Striking Barry, Wesley answers, "I'm the man."

The tweet led Pratt to apologize to the world's No. 3 pound-for-pound fighter.

Pratt tweeted:

You're right I'm sorry brother. It bugs me when people criticize my work-having never risked anything. It makes me a hypocrite to do exactly that to you. My bad. Keep on keeping on, champ.

However, Israel Adesanya called out Alex Pereira, his next opponent, after his victory over Cannonier at UFC 276. 

Pereira is a UFC fighter who ended Adesanya's 12-fight winning streak with a unanimous decision victory. Unfortunately, when they had a rematch, Israel lost again and lost consciousness but was resuscitated with oxygen.

Tinubu's running mate will be a Muslim - Gaduje

According to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate (APC), has agreed to pick a Muslim as his running mate.

Ganduje said this on Friday at a gathering of about 100 clerics at the Kano state government house to mark Eid-El Kabir.

He said, "We have advised him [Tinubu] to pick a Muslim deputy, and he has agreed.

"A Muslim-Muslim ticket is a reality. It's not something new in Nigeria."

Ganduje asked the clerics to pray for Tinubu to emerge as Nigeria's next president in 2023.

Tinubu had, in June this year, emerged as the APC's presidential flag bearer.

Eid-el-Kabir: Buhari returned to his hometown to celebrate Sallah

Friday evening, the Nigerian president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), left for Daura, in Katsina State where he planned to spend the Eid-el- Kabir.

He arrived Friday evening via the Umaru Musa Yar'Adua International Airport, Katsina, from where he flew to the ancient town in a helicopter.


He got to Daura a few minutes to six in the evening and was welcomed by the Emir, Alhaji Faruq Umar, and other important dignitaries in the town.


According to sources, Buhari would be in Daura throughout the Sallah period to join his kinsmen in celebrating the Sallah. Expectedly he shall use the Sallah vacation period to attend to private matters.
