March 9, 2023 Today on New Security Beat Soil's Key Role in Fighting Climate Change in U.S. and Chinese Agriculture: The Wisdom of Dr. Rattan Lal   By Karen Mancl In poverty-stricken areas of the world, the soil mirrors the image of the people. If people in a particular place are desperate and starving, they pass on their suffering to the soil—and it reciprocates. Thus, it is critical to instill respect for the soil through practicing agroecology and adopting regenerative agriculture. In China and the U.S., healthy soil practices that also reduce greenhouse gas emissions are particularly important as both countries grow food to feed the world.
