January 9, 2025 Today on New Security Beat Charged Up: China Driving Thailand's EV Industry By Nayan Seth As Chinese EV makers and battery manufacturers face high tariffs and market access barriers in much of the Western world, Southeast Asia is rolling out a red carpet for them by offering tax incentives, cash grants and subsidies. Thailand is leading that effort with a vision to create domestic capacity in the EV supply chains and become crucial stakeholders in the impending energy transition. However, several challenges are making the road to EV adoption bumpy.
