APC Led Administration, IGP Knew About Edwin Clark Raid – PDP Chairman, Secondus

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 04:15 PM PDT

Prince Uche Secondus

Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has criticized the Federal Government and the Police for the raid on home of Chief Edwin K. Clark, an elder statesman and former Minister of Information.

The PDP National Chairman said the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Administration and the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris, knew about what happened.

He said that the unacceptable act showed the real character of the government and their attitude towards the nation's senior citizens who should be accorded due respect for their contributions to the growth and development of the country.

Secondus expressed this through his spokesman, Ike Abonyi, via a statement on Friday, stating that the operatives acted in line with the body language of the administration.

According to him, the invasion of Clark's home has brought to the fore, the rascality of this government in abusing human rights with the IG as a major culprit forgetting that they would not be in power forever.

"History is recording all the atrocities of this government and time would come when every actor would be made to answer for their roles in one way or the other," he said.

Secondus noted that "this is what you get when a President of a country is seen saying publicly that he would jail more people when he is not a court.

"The deduction to the operatives hearing that from a Commander- in-Chief is that everybody especially perceived enemies of the government are preys who should be dealt with at the slightest opportunity."

The PDP boss said that rather than make the operatives the escape goat, the Inspector General of Police should take responsibility as he would have jumped to take credit if they had found arms in Chief Clark's home.

"The IG is trying to play smart by sacrificing the operatives when he would have owned up the operation and taken the credit if they had succeeded in their illicit mission.

"What we are seeing is the image of an administration that has little or no regard for rule of law and human rights and operatives cash in on it at will," he added.

The National Chairman said that further inquest should be made on the unfortunate incident to explain how they got the search warrant and who authorized the operation in the first place.

Secondus regretted that "human rights abuses akin to what happened to Chief Clark go on under this administration on a daily basis but are hardly reported but warned that no evil would ever go unpunished."

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 04:38 PM PDT

Mr Okoi Obono-Obla

Mr Okoi Obono-Obla, the panel Chairman of the Special Presidential Panel for the Recovery of Public Property has vowed to recover the seven billion dollars bailout fund granted commercial banks between 2006 and 2008.

He disclosed in Abuja on Friday, that the banks had yet to pay back the money over a decade of receiving the money.

"We are currently doing a lot of investigations to recover monies that have been taken away from the people of Nigeria", NAN quoted him as saying.

"One of them is the almost seven billion dollars bailout fund that the Central Bank of Nigeria granted commercial banks in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

"After 13 years or so, these commercial banks have not returned that money to the coffers of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

"When we enquired from the CBN the status of that money, the banks told us that the money was 'dashed' (given free) to the commercial banks".

The panel chairman said that the money belonged to the people of Nigeria and so could not be given away like that to commercial banks owned by private individuals.

Obono-Obla said the panel was also in the process of recovering a large piece of land belonging to a parastatal agency under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development

"That land was encroached upon, parcelled out and sold by unpatriotic people.

"I can assure you that we are going to recover it and prosecute all those who are responsible.

"We are also investigating and in the process of recovering a lot of landed property belongìng to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in Calabar, Warri, Koko, Sapele and Lagos ports.

"We are equally doing recoveries for the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, and other federal government agencies, across the country," the panel chairman stated.

Edwin Clark Disclose Top Police Officers Behind The Raid Of His Home

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 07:13 AM PDT

Chief Edwin Clark and IGP Ibrahin Idris

A report about those behind the raid of Chief Edwin Clark residence in Abuja has been in the media Friday as a petition from the nonagenarian, had  questioned why the police authorities are going after four junior officers who were merely carrying out instructions from their superiors.

Read the report as Published by the Sun Newspaper:

Elder statesman and leader of the South-South region, Chief Edwin Clark, has revealed the identity of top police officers allegedly involved in the raiding of his Abuja residence on Tuesday on information that he was stockpiling arms in his house.

Clark, who is demanding a full blown investigation into the matter, named a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Kolo, Commander of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tactical Squad and Assistant Inspector General of Police, Federal Intelligence, Umoru Usman as those who instructed the raid and search on his residence.

This was contained in two separate petitions addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major-General Mohammed Babagana Monguno (Rtd). In the petitions with reference number KACCL/ PET/KA/76/18, dated September 6, 2018 and signed by his lawyer, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, Clark said though he has accepted the public apology from the police, he want the matter to be thoroughly investigated.

In the said petitions, the nonagenarian wondered why the police authorities that should know the masterminds and conspirators of the invasion are going after the four junior officers, who were merely carrying out instructions from their superiors.

The petition reads: "Our client did brief us that at about 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, officers and men of the IGP Tactical Squad, a unit under the direct command of the Inspector General of Police, alongside pressmen invaded and ransacked his Asokoro residence on the pretext that they were in search of arms and ammunition. However, despite the siege and search, they found nothing incriminating on our client.

"Our client further briefed us and we confirmed that at the point where officers and men of the IGP Tactical Squad were to commence their search, they introduced themselves as acting under the instructions of the Inspector General of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Kolo, who is their commander.

Former SSG, Bayelsa State and former Permanent Secretary Ministry of Power, Ambassador Boladei Igali, who was with our client at the venue of the search, put a call through to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Federal Intelligence, Umoru Usman Shehu, who spoke with the leader of the search party and gave authority to go ahead with the search.

"Having so searched in vain, the Inspector General of Police, in the face of the impudent search conducted on the property of our client, has publicly denied any knowledge of the said search and has immediately ordered the arrest of the four junior officers, who were responsible for the search and tendered a public apology to our client.

"Taking into consideration the circumstances of the invasion and uncivilized search conducted on his property, and the attendant embarrassment caused to our client and what he stands for, it is imperative to hold the view that there are serious questions which ought to be determined forthwith and without mincing words.

"It will be rather unfortunate for junior officers and men of the IGP Tactical squad who were at best acting on the orders of their superiors to fall prey in this regard. It beats our client's imagination that despite the fact that our client has the compliments of the Nigerian Police Force and the State Security Services protecting him, his property, and overseeing his daily activities, such level of conspiracy could be perpetuated against him.

He wonders what exactly warranted such unfounded suspicion on his person to the extent that a search warrant could be procured against him on the demeaning allegation that he is involved in gun running.

READ ALSORaid on Edwin Clark: Fake Informant, 4 Policemen Nabbed

"Our client appreciates unreserved double apologies by the Nigerian Police; the first which was conveyed by the delegation of the IGP lead by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Habila Joshak (Operations), Assistant Inspector General of Police, David Ogbodo (Legal), Commissioner of Police, Abu Sani (IGP Monitoring Unit) and Commissioner of Police of FCT and the second which was publicly tendered on behalf of the Nigerian Police Force by the Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Moshood.

"While our client accepts the apologies, it is his sole demand that this case be comprehensively probed and thoroughly investigated to fish out all the conspirators who masterminded the invasion of his residence without due cause."

When contacted the Force public relations officer Jimoh Moshood, said: "With all due respect to the elder statesman, we have done everything to investigate that matter. When the incident occurred, IGP directed an investigation promptly and that the personnel who went there should be investigated and detained and that was carried out.

"And that same night, the IGP sent a delegation to the elder statesman to apologize to him and the DIG with the others that went said the apology was accepted by him. There is no institution that would allow its personnel, on their own, to carry out an unauthorized and illegal activities as we have reported.

"And based on that, it is not Kolo that tried these personnel. It is the provost office that tried the men and found them guilty and dismissed them from service, which the IGP approved.

If you ask some of your colleagues, they will tell you that Kolo was at parade of suspect that Monday helps along the Abuja/Kaduna highway. He was within that vicinity and he was not in Abuja at the time. "So, we plead for more understanding from the elder statesmen.

But we want Nigerians to know that Kolo was not behind it. If he has sent a petition, then the IGP will investigate but I want to make it clear to the public that we seek for more understanding from the elder statement that it is not Kolo that is behind it. Those that were behind it have been dismissed and the officer is undergoing interdiction now and the police service commission would determine his fate."

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria,SAN, said despite some of the errors, Buhari's personal integrity stands tall above all his political opponents.

He also alleged that there was a gang up against the President, ahead of 2019 elections.

Read what he wrote:

"Let's be clear that the present government may not have gotten EVERY decision right or taken EVERY step right since 2015, but we urge Nigerians to put the sincerity and personal integrity of Mr. President on an overall scale against those of his opponents in 2019 and see where the scale tilts.

"Some of us are prepared to be misunderstood, abused and maligned by a few for the position we have taken today about the future of our country because we see behind the scenes and WE KNOW THE TRUTH. It is better to be vindicated by posterity than to be applauded wrongly at the moment.

"There is a sickening gang-up of some pseudo-religious leaders, pseudo-journalists and pseudo-professionals, posing as opinion moulders, who benefited from the largesse of the old system who are hell-bent on returning to the old order of meager infrastructure, but heavy handouts.

Senatorial Aspirant Ask Atiku, Others To Assure Ndigbo Of 2023 Presidency

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 05:25 AM PDT

Mr. Chinedu Eya

Mr. Chinedu Eya, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State,  has outlined conditions through which former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar could get the support of the Igbo in his quest to become Nigeria's president.

The PDP Chieftain, a senatorial aspirant of the party for the Enugu North Senatorial Zone spoke to journalists in Enugu, stating that Ndigbo would not give support to anybody without extracting some element of commitment.

The Daily Post reports that Eya stated that time had gone when the South-East played blind politics that saw them losing out on the long run.

According to him, "we have taken note of all the aspirants interested in picking the PDP ticket for the presidential election in 2019.

"We are also taking note of the promises being made by these individuals, especially former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar who has continued to assure Nigerians that he would restructure the country.

"While we note the issue of restructuring as one of our conditions for supporting any of the aspirants, I must also state that such a person should also go ahead and made commitment to the Igbo on the 2023 presidency project.

"Any aspirant who is not ready to sign a pact with the Igbo based on the two key issues above- restructuring and Igbo presidency 2023, should not be supported in whatever manner. This is not a time for blanket support to any aspirant.

"We will only support an aspirant who is ready to do a single tenure and hand over to an Igbo man in 2023.

Mr. Eya stressed that Ndigbo had for a long time been relegated to the background and that such would not be allowed to go on any longer.

He said that "we have very many quality and competent individuals in Igbo land who have all it takes to turn around the affairs of the country. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is one of such persons who should be considered when the time comes in 2023."

BREAKING: Herdsmen Behead PDP Chairman, Head Taken Away

Posted: 07 Sep 2018 04:19 AM PDT

Herdsmen

The Punch reports Friday morning reveals that suspected herdsmen have beheaded the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Bare ward in the Numan Local Government Area, Adamawa State.

Mr. Charles Chrisanthus was reportedly killed in the presence of his wife, Dorcas, in his farm on August 29, 2018.

Speaking in an interview with journalists, the widow, Dorcas has accused the police of shielding the killers. SHe made the comment at the State Criminal Investigation Department where she had gone to lodge her complaint on Tuesday, Dorcas told Northern City News that only justice for her slain husband would bring her peace.

Dorcas wife of deceased Adamawa PDP Chairman
She said she was holding her four-month-old son and watched helplessly as the assailants hacked her husband to death.

"His attackers led by our Fulani neighbors repeatedly stabbed him on the back and on his stomach before beheading my husband in our farm and made away with his head, " she said.

Claiming to have made some arrests, the police had invited the widow of the slain ward chairman and three other female witnesses to the state Criminal Investigation Department for their statements.

It was at the CID that the families of the deceased were alerted to the whereabouts of the suspected killers.

The bereaved families, it was learned, discovered that some of the suspects arrested in connection with the killing were receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.

Dorcas said she could identify her husband' s killers , insisting that the police were shielding them from answering for their crime .

"The police under the guise of allowing the suspects to seek medical attention are shielding those that killed my husband. The only thing I want is justice, " she stated.

A PDP youth leader in Bare ward , Tekas Adiel , explained that the police earlier claimed that the Fulanis who perpetrated the killings had fled the community, insisting that the same assailants carried out another attack on Tuesday.

But the Police Public Relations officer in the state, Musa Habibu , insisted that some of the alleged perpetrators of the crime were in custody , adding that investigation into the incident was ongoing.

Asked about the suspects allegedly receiving medical attention in a hospital , the spokesman simply retorted , " A suspect has a right to medical attention if he is sick . "

He added , " Some arrests have been made and those arrested are in police custody . I have had consultations with the assistant commissioner of police handling the issue who said arrest had been made . "

" But if they said one of those arrested is receiving medical attention, a suspect has a right to medication if he ' s truly sick , it could be but I don' t have that information, " Habibu said.
