How Three Aircrafts Were Used To Fly N1.2bn From Lagos To Ekiti For Fayose – Witness

Posted: 20 Nov 2018 09:58 AM PST

Mr. Ayodele Fayose

The former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose's, trial over alleged fraud resumed on Monday at the Lagos division of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi.

Damola Otuyena, one of the four prosecuting witnesses, told the court that three aircraft were used to fly N1.2billion from Lagos to Ekiti State for delivery to the former governor, Daily Post reports.

The witness, who works with a commercial bank, told the court that he accompanied the bullion van that took the cash to the airport.

He also gave evidence of how cash was withdrawn on the instructions of the former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, on June 16 and 17, 2014.

He, however, said that although Obanikoro operated the account and was the known holder, he was not the official signatory nor was he a director to the company in whose name the account was opened.

Fayose is facing 11 charges of conspiracy and money laundering – an allegation which he and his company, Spotless Limited, pleaded not guilty to.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had also accused Fayose of benefiting from the five billion dollars slush funds allocated to the office of National Security Adviser by the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

APC CRISIS: Big Trouble Imminent As APC Threatens To Expel Okorocha’s Son-Inlaw, Others

Posted: 20 Nov 2018 05:04 AM PST

APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Nigeria's ruling party, has threatened to activate constitutional provisions regarding the several court actions instituted by some governors and their proxies against it as a result of the outcome of its recent nationwide primaries.

The decision was taken at Monday's meeting of the National Working Committee NWC of the party.

Confirming the development in a statement, Monday night, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu said the NWC "frowned at the actions of some Party members who have resorted to litigation as a way of addressing their perceived grievances and disputation without exhausting the party's dispute resolution mechanism".

Article 21(D)(v) states; "Any member who files an action in court of law against the party or any of its officers on any matter or matters relating to the discharge of the duties of the party without first exhausting the avenues for redress provided for in this constitution shall automatically stand expelled from the party on filing such action and no appeal against expulsion as stipulated in this clause shall be entertained until the withdrawal of the action from the court by the member".

In Imo state, a son in law to the governor, Uche Nwosu had instituted a court case against the party as part of measures to retrieve what he described as his "stolen" governorship mandate.

In Zamfara and a handful of other states, high-profile members of the party had also instituted several court cases against the party.

The party has now warned against the growing trend which it described as "manifest indiscipline".

"The actions, it should be noted, is considered as anti-party as it goes against our Party's constitution.

For emphasis, according to Article 20, Subsection 10 of our Party's Constitution, offences against the Party include the following: 'Filing an action in a Court of Law against the Party or any of its Officers on any matters relating to the discharge of the duties of the Party without first exhausting all avenues for redress provided for in this Constitution.'

"The Party intends to activate constitutional provisions to penalise such members as their action is capable of undermining the party and hurt the Party's interest.

"We hereby strongly advise such members to withdraw all court cases, while approaching the appropriate party organs with a view to resolving any outstanding disputes. In addition to this, aggrieved members are urged to take full advantage of the reconciliation committees the party has just put in place.

"APC members should understand that as a progressive party that operates on the principle of change, it is not a matter of choice to keep to the rules.

"We therefore advise such members to take this warning very seriously as failure to comply with the party's dispute resolution procedures would be met with the stipulated disciplinary actions", the party warned.

The NWC has also set up reconciliation committees to interface with all aggrieved elements in the party.

DSS INVITATION: Oshiomhole; 'Clear Your Name Before Campaigning For APC'- Frank

Posted: 20 Nov 2018 04:07 AM PST

Comrade Timi Frank and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has been asked by Comrade Timi Frank, immediate past Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, to clear his name in the reported allegation of bribery and corruption during the party's primary election.

Frank said until proper investigation and clearance is given to Comrade Oshiomhole, it will amount to immorality for him to criticise the opposition party and its presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar's policy documents.

The former APC chieftain was reacting in a statement on Tuesday to a comment credited to Oshiomhole where he said Atiku's policy document, especially on the issue of creating jobs can not be trusted.

According to Frank, it is shameful for APC National Chairman to start talking while Nigerians are still waiting for the outcome of his quizzing by the Director of State Security Service (DSS).

While querying Oshimhole's integrity in public service, Frank said the APC National Chairman should be worried that his National Working Committee (NWC) colleagues and some prominent chieftains of his party, even from his own state and zone, were calling for his resignation.

The Bayelsa born political activist, however revealed that Adams Oshiomhole's current saga will be a major campaign issue as the country move towards the 2019 general elections unless the party relieves him of his office or make public the outcome of his interrogation by the DSS.

In his opinion, Frank said: "President Muhammadu Buhari's claim of fighting corruption has now been defeated by the singular act of allowing the likes of Oshiomhole and other alleged corrupt politicians around him.

"As it is now, Comrade Oshimhole does not have moral right to castigate anybody. His comments on Atiku's policy documents and his adamant that Senate President Bukola Saraki should resign as Chairman of National Assembly is diversionary because Nigerians will not forget his ordeal in the hands of DSS.

"So, my advice for the former Labour leader is to look at himself in the mirror before making any comment during this campaign because he who must go to the equity must be there with a clean hand.

"Though, it is obvious that Saraki has become a nightmare to Oshiomhole and the earlier he realises this the better for him. So, Oshiomhole should know that Nigerians and international community are waiting to hear the verdict of the ruling party on him."

Presidency Speaks On Service Chiefs’ Walk Out During Buhari’s Next Level 2019 Campaign Launch

Posted: 20 Nov 2018 03:20 AM PST

Malam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity

The Presidency has frowned at the media report on unceremonious departure of some service chiefs from the venue of the launch of "Next Level 2019'', describing it as "absolutely unnecessary".

Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, made this position known in a statement in Abuja on Monday, Daily Post reports.

The launch of the Campaign Manual/Next Level Document took place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The presidential aide, who was reacting to a report by one of the national dailies, explained that the service chiefs had wanted to witness the event only to leave before it got underway after discovering the nature of the event.

The statement read: "the media should have asked what brought the Service Chiefs to the "Next Level 2019" event at the State House, only to leave before it got underway.

"They were mistaken in their assumption that this was a non-political event, to showcase the achievements of the administration, the success of which they are part.

"Hardly were they seated than did the Minister of Defence, Brig-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali ask them to leave as this was a political gathering.

"They quickly left, even before the arrival of the President and for the event to get under way. The fuss over this is therefore absolutely unnecessary.''

President Buhari had on Sunday inaugurated campaign manual for his re-election in 2019 with a call on politicians to be peaceful and decent in their campaigns and avoid any act capable of setting the nation ablaze.

"I'm not unmindful that the National Assembly and the Presidential campaign starts today, I will implore candidates to go about the campaigns peacefully and decently.

"We have no other country, let us not set it ablaze because of politics,'' President Buhari said at the event, which was witnessed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and wife of the president, Aisha Buhari.

2019 ELECTION: What I Will Not Allow Tinubu To Do – Bukola Saraki

Posted: 20 Nov 2018 02:35 AM PST

Tinubu and Saraki

Dr. Bukola Saraki, Nigeria's Senate President, in a leaked audio clip,  was heard vowing that Kwara State will never take instructions from any political leader in Lagos State.

Saraki, who spoke largely in Yoruba in the audio clip, stated this while addressing young Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members in Kwara State.

The leaked audio clip yesterday drew the ire of Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, which requested the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to investigate the claim that the Senate President spent between N200 million and N400 million to influence the outcome of the 2015 elections for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in states of the federation, VON reports.

In the audio tape, recorded for about 33 minutes, which had since gone viral across social media platforms, Saraki, who defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the opposition PDP a few months ago, said he benefited little from his membership of the ruling party.

In the tape, the Senate president threw jabs at APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, by pledging to protect Kwara from the grip of godfathers in Lagos.

Although the former Kwara governor did not specifically mention the name of the Lagos-based APC leader, his words were punctured with anti-Tinubu rhetoric from his supporters.

Saraki said if he remained the only member of the PDP, he would ensure that he resisted the 'invasion' of Kwara by Lagos godfathers, alleging that he was being persecuted, despite helping President Buhari win election.

"If you don't even want Bukola, bring someone from Kwara and empower him. I know you young people are 'sharp'. Today, there is none in APC ('empowered' by government). Instead, they want you, they want us, to be going to Lagos to get instructions.

Meanwhile, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has requested the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to investigate claims that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, spent between N200 million and N400 million to influence the outcome of the 2015 elections for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in states of the federation.

In an open letter to INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmod Yakubu, SERAP urged him to collaborate with other necessary agencies of government to investigate the veracity of the audio linked to Saraki, where he claimed to have spent between N200million and N400million in every state, except the six South-West states, to influence the outcome of the 2015 elections for APC.

SERAP also urged INEC to "investigate the sources of other cases of apparently unexplained campaign financing and contributions for the 2015 elections by politicians and supporters of the two main political parties, the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Uche Nwosu, Okorocha’s Son In-Law, Opens Up On Dumping APC For PDP

Posted: 20 Nov 2018 01:24 AM PST

Chief Uche Nwosu

The embattled Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, son in-law, Chief Uche Nwosu, has denied rumours of dumping the All Progressives Congress, APC for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

It could be recalled that Okorocha has been at loggerheads with the leadership of the APC over its refusal to field Nwosu as the governorship candidate of the party in the 2019 general elections.

Nwosu when speaking to New Telegraph newspaper via telephone, said:

"That is a big lie. l can't be part of a party from inception and abandon it for people that came and joined."

"l have no reason to dump APC as l am convinced that l will regain my mandate and contest the Imo State governorship election in the state. I know where the allegation of me dumping APC coming from. But l want to assure them that would not lead to anything.

"That would be the last card they would play on my mandate."

JUST IN: Lawmaker Beaten Beyond Recognition In House Of Assembly

Posted: 20 Nov 2018 12:27 AM PST

A Sacked lawmaker responsible for invading the Akwa-Ibom house of assembly with thugs was mercilessly beaten up and some of his thugs were also arrested by the Nigerian police force.

Hon. Idangesit Ituen stormed the house of assembly earlier today with thugs in protest over his sack by the speaker of the state house of assembly, Onofiok Luke.

The Akwa Ibom state house of assembly was barricaded this morning by police and other Law enforcement agencies in the state following an uncovered plan by Idongesit who represents Itu constituency to use hired thugs to stop the house from sitting this morning, PoliticsNGR reports.

It was gathered that the House decided to sit today due to the public holiday declared by the Federal Government tomorrow.

Ituen, who defected to the All Progressives Congress APC recently,  thought that the speaker, Mr Luke was going to declare his seat vacant today following the directive of the Court last week.
Luke received a court judgement last week sacking the state lawmaker who defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

APC vs PDP: Saraki Denies Trending Audio, Says It Was Doctored, Reveals Those Behind It

Posted: 20 Nov 2018 02:13 AM PST

Dr. Bukola Saraki, President of Nigeria's Senate

Dr. Bukola Saraki, President of Nigeria's Senate, has revealed those responsible for 'doctored 'viral audio which recently appeared online that he allegedly spent millions campaigning for President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2015 election.

In the alleged audio, Saraki was heard saying he is angry with Buhari because he was not compensated and has not benefited from the APC government since 2015.

However, the Senate President in a series of tweets by Olu Onemola, his Special Assistant on New Media stated that "the fake audio recording released by online henchmen and mercenary influencers is a doctored audio file meant to mislead the public."

Olu Onemola said the fake recording was the work of desperate agents of the ruling party, the APC.

He insisted that the Senate President left the ruling party because the minimum conditions for peace, cooperation, inclusion and a general sense of belonging did not exist' not for any personal benefits as alleged in the audio.

According to him, Saraki did not receive any benefits from National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Tinubu before leaving the ruling party.

The tweets read: "For the record: we always restrain from responding to inconsequential issues that we can otherwise ignore. However, in order to put this issue to rest so that we can move on to real issues, these are the facts:

"The audio recording that is being circulated online by known anti-Saraki henchmen is a doctored recording. It was probably part of the mix of manipulations that APC decided to employ for today's election in four LGAs in Kwara South.

"We will not allow people like Ogundamisi and other mercenary "influencers" to create false and mischievous impressions that may easily be consumed by the otherwise unsuspecting public.

"Dr. Saraki, in his response to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in August 2018, stated emphatically that he left the APC because "the minimum conditions for peace, cooperation, inclusion and a general sense of belonging did not exist".

"Additionally, in that same response to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. Saraki emphasized that he "never discussed any such personal and pecuniary benefits with anybody.Again, we still challenge that anybody who has contrary facts should come forward.

"Finally, we ask the public to understand that in their desperation to hang on to power, agents of the ruling party are stooping to new lows by doctoring and releasing such audio files. We expect more of such desperate moves. Fake news, remains fake news. Their lies remain lies."
