Research Assistant Opening: Joint Committee on Taxation Posted: 10 Jan 2019 05:34 AM PST The Joint Committee on Taxation is seeking to hire an economics research assistant (RA). The primary responsibility of the position involves assisting staff economists in constructing data sets and statistical models used to perform revenue estimates for Congress. Coursework in economics, computer science, statistics, and applied mathematics are preferred. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of Stata and SAS, and will be highly skilled in at least one of the following statistical software languages: R, Python, Stata, SAS, or Matlab. The role is ideally suited to those considering graduate education in economics, statistics, or public policy, and requires a one year minimum commitment. In addition, given the Joint Committee's role in the development of tax policy, the position requires perseverance and integrity. Start date is negotiable and can begin as soon as arrangements can be finalized. No consideration will be given for start dates after June 15, 2019.
