Kemi Olunloyo: ‘Peruzzi just messed up Chioma’s upcoming brand’

Kemi Olunloyo: 'Peruzzi just messed up Chioma's upcoming brand'
Controversial Nigerian journalist, and activist,  Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo has continued to react after her outburst with Spesh yesterday. This time she is attacking Chioma and her alleged cousin Peruzzi.

She wrote:

TROUBLE IN DAVIDO MUSIC WORLD. CHECK YOUR MOLES.

Fat bearded @specialspesh says I'm the one chatting with him on his leaked DM. ABSOLUTELY FALSE! PLS TELL THE TRUTH. At first he lied that it was fake but then seeing the O2 wifi router Gif Gaff on top, he knew he was BUSTED!
__

In Journalism, we protect the source. I'm RETIRED! The source of the DM between Spesh and Tobechukwu Victor Okoh aka Peruzzi is the same person who set it up @peruzzi_vibes. He is reportedly cousins with Chioma Avril Rowland. He played reverse psychology on Spesh trying to get him to speak about his female cousin to see if she's still #1 in Davido's heart since they don't want their only source of income cut off. Sadly Peruzzi just messed up Chioma's upcoming brand. In America all her cooking sponsors would have CUT her off! Chioma BLOCKED me which is no big deal, I can see her account from@hnnafricaarchives if I need to.
__

Peruzzi needs to apologise to Chioma if indeed she's not sleeping with anyone in London as he was trying to get info out of Spesh, Spesh needs to apologise to me and my family for his threats as I plan to make him face the wrath of the law, I do not entertain BULLSHIT🔥👎😠 and Davido needs to apologise to me for sexually harrassing me. This story will now have an international angle soon. A very SOUR one too. I was @bet HipHop correspondent in Canada and Davido is a BET award winner struggling for International recognition in his own country. Collaboration with Busta, features on other Artists albums, payola on New York radio and rolling Stone magazine is what money is buying for him.
MONEY CAN'T BUY A GOOD NAME when you sexually harass women, ignore a child@mitchellanuadeleke you fathered from a one night stand prostitute you described @ayolabinjoh as when you have 3 daughters, 2 sisters and was so drunk you forgot your own late mother in your "Wonder Woman" video.
__

The struggle continues. I am the REAL ALPHA FEMALE Chioma. It's the kind of woman who want other women to be LIKE HER! Not low self esteemed with inferiority complex blocking me like Linda, You and others. You cannot mentor any woman when your man is shaming them.

South African schools ready for digital education

Posted: 20 Feb 2019 07:47 AM PST

South Africa Digital Class

Public schools in South Africa can look forward to joining the digital education revolution as some of their private school counterparts have been experiencing for the past few years, but education experts have cautioned against a rush to provide tablets and other digital infrastructure before a solid strategy and fundamentals have been put in place.

"In the rush to get on board with the 4th Industrial Revolution – a term many are invoking without truly understanding the issues involved – private schools have increasingly been offering coding, robotics and digital learning on their campuses," says John Luis, Head of Academics at ADvTECH Schools, which has been at the forefront of introducing tech in South African classrooms for several years.
"However simply offering content that previously used to be in book or paper format, and not investing time and money in an holistic approach to content and delivery, as well as proper educator and support staff training, will render such initiatives futile and expensive mistakes," he says.

Luis says while there is much talk about coding and ICT in schools, the key success factor when introducing technology in classrooms is the development of an appropriate and defined curriculum. And very importantly, tech in the classroom can never replace the fundamental core skills required for academic excellence.

In his State of the Nation address this month, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that government would, over the next six years, provide every school child in South Africa with digital workbooks and textbooks on a tablet device.
While the sentiment is welcomed, there is much work to be done before the time arrives to unbox devices.

"It is extremely important to understand that learning is served and not defined by technological tools," says Dr Neelam Parmar, renowned global tech-ed expert.

"All too often we think that the technology will fix our teaching and learning problems in school but what is truly important that the technology is embedded firmly and seamlessly within the curriculum and lesson delivery in the classroom," she says.

The digital strategy at ADvTECH schools was designed and implemented in conjunction with Dr Parmar, whose stellar career includes leading the implementation of technology and learning across The London Preparatory Schools in South West London and now in Ashford School, one of the United Learning Trust Schools. She is an award-winning professional, international researcher, author, thought leader and speaker on effective technology, pedagogic, and content integration within education.

"There is great potential in creating online learning systems to close the widening educational gap," she says, "but to get to this point in education, it is vital that the government first understand the relevance of emerging technologies and the means of how to offer the necessary digital literacy skills for our next generation".

She says the right curriculum is essential for successful and sustainable digital transformation in classrooms, and while the market is inundated with companies that claim to offer bespoke educational solutions, private – and now also the public education sector in South Africa – must realise that one solution does not fit all.

"At ADvTECH, we embedded a digital literacy curriculum which follows a structured format, and affords a flexible approach to adapt to the requirements of the classroom. The curriculum takes into account industry-wide key digital skills in areas of Computational Thinking and Programming, Creativity and Communication and Computer Networks and Collaboration.

"There is a great deal of hype around the 4th Industrial Revolution, and undoubtedly change is taking place at a phenomenal level, yet any change at this level needs to come with a vision, and with a vision we need a strategy."
The risk is often that visions are little more than ideas without substance or structure, Dr Parmar says.

"For technology to become relevant in education, a strategy considering the grand scheme of systems, teaching and learning, curriculum redesign, teacher training, community, new partnerships and the relevant stakeholders, has to be considered.  It is now time to act on delivering the right education to our students, by using the technology we know can make it happen."

Shoprite Lesotho cross-border remittance product reaches $70mln

Posted: 20 Feb 2019 07:33 AM PST

The Shoprite cross-border money remittance product reached the R1 billion mark in January, roughly 70 million USD, after just three years of it being implemented between SA and Lesotho. The cost of a transfer of R900 is 2%, which is one of the cheapest cross-border products in the world.

A remittance is when a person sends money, usually small amounts, across a border to friends and family living in another country. The three major remittance corridors for cross-border remittances from South Africa are Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Lesotho.

The Shoprite offering is a cash to cash offering, with the money being sent from any Shoprite Money Market counter in South Africa and collected at any Shoprite in Lesotho. These transfers are economically significant to the countries that receive them. For Lesotho, remittances play a critical role in supporting the families of migrants back home.

Approximately 70% of recipients are women, who have been given a safe and affordable way to receive money transferred from relatives working in South Africa. "Before Shoprite came, I used to receive money through a bank. I had an account there. But I changed because the bank was too expensive. We were sharing the money with them." said a woman in the Shoprite queue in Lesotho. By sharing she meant the bank charges were comparatively high.

FinMark Trust estimates that the Shoprite Lesotho remittance product has saved Basotho people approximately R80 million in transfer fees over the three year period. These significant savings can now be used for education, health, consumption and Small Medium and Micro-sized Enterprises (SMME) activity in Lesotho. Given the success of the remittance product to Lesotho, FinMark Trust is currently working on replicating it in the Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique and Eswatini corridors.

FinMark Trust partnered with Shoprite, the Ministry of Finance Lesotho, the Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL) and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) to make this possible. FinMark Trust's project is funded by DFID (Department for International Development).

#BudgetSpeech2019: Budget spending has to focus on getting our country ready for technology

Posted: 20 Feb 2019 07:27 AM PST

Tito Titus Mboweni

South African Minister of Finance, Tito Titus Mboweni, delivered the 2019 Budget Speech on Wednesday, 20 February, addressing government expenditure as set out for the year.

"As we look to the future, I see the following huge shifts in society and the world," Mboweni said on the topic of technology.

"The first is the rise of technology. Twenty-five years ago, the Budget was prepared on reams of paper, carefully stapled together. I reviewed this speech on my tablet, and you can keep track of the speech on Twitter right now," said the minister.

Data costs

As mobile data pricing remains relatively high in the country, citizens were eagerly waiting for the minister to address the issue.

Ahead of the new ICASA regulation rollout. the minister said, "My fellow Minister will shortly be issuing policy direction to ICASA for the licensing of spectrum. I will work relentlessly with the Minister until this matter is resolved. This includes resourcing ICASA for this mandate.

Education

During the SONA2019, the president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa announced the governments plans to digitalize South African schools.

Minister Mboweni reiterated this by emphasizing the need to improve the education system and develop digital skills by investing funds. "Over R30 billion is allocated to build new schools and maintain schooling infrastructure. But to make certain these schools are effective centres of learning will also require parents to be a visible and constructive part in the governance of schools," said the minister.

"Our budget spending has to focus on getting our country ready for technology. The first step is to fix the education system. Government is rolling out a maths and science grant," said Mboweni.

Over the medium term government will spend R111.2bn to ensure that 2.8m deserving students from poor and working-class families obtain their qualifications at universities and TVET colleges.

Fintech

The minister revealed that the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank is driving an ambitious FinTech programme, together with colleagues from the other financial-sector regulators.

He said that the country needs to redouble efforts to attract highly-skilled people to South Africa.

"Their skills are complementary to our own. We need to free our entrepreneurs from stifling regulations and complicated taxes. We will continue to work closely with our partners in the BRICS, the African Development Bank and the South African Customs Union," said the minister.

Buhari’s man, others defect to PDP

Posted: 20 Feb 2019 07:16 AM PST

BARELY three days to the rescheduled general elections, the Sokoto state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has made a big catch into its fold as Alhaji Sani Muhammad Gobirawa, Northwest Zonal Vice President of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners and top notch of the Buhari Support Organisation(BSO) "Buhari Sak" in Sokoto defects from APC.

Gobirawa who currently is at the vanguard as Vice Chairman of the Aminu Waziri Tambuwal(AMATA) Support Group exclusively told The Nation in Sokoto Wednesday that his defection along with others in the BSO was voluntary and based on their conviction that PDP is the most fulfilling political platform that symbolises the democracy for Nigeria to work again.

" Our decision to join PDP was purely based on our firm conviction of the ability and capability of Governor Aminu's reality and myth, as such, we don't need the approval or inclination of any family to actualize our political aspirations", he pointed out.

According to the Pensioners top echelon who similarly seized opportunity to clear the air on some misinformation on his defection, said " I have to put it straight to the people of the state and to shame doubting Thomases that as a Nigerian and an adult with my senses, I can decide on which party to join without associating my actions to any family.

" This clarification has become necessary for Sokoto people to discountenance insinuations from some quarters associated with family issue", he explained.

The political opinion leader and elder who also holds a traditional title of ' Wakilin Gwiwa and Walin Dabagin Ardo' in the state continued, " when I joined BSO I did not seek the permission nor associated my membership to any family."

Gobirawa however, urged the public to focus on issues and not personality as to the issue of choice in a democratic setting where a citizen has the right to freely associate and express his wish as to his or her aspiration.

He said his group remain determined and focused with resilience for the success of PDP and for the reelection of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

" I wish to reaffirm the commitment of our group and we remain firm and resolute behind the PDP under Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal from the grassroots up to the National level for the good of the people and the coming generations yet unborn. I also urge the people of Sokoto state to continue to extend their support to the Governor so that he can transform the state and return it's lost glory."

"Our decision to join PDP was purely based on our firm conviction of the ability and capability of Governor Aminu's reality and myth, as such, we don't need the approval or inclination of any family to actualize our political aspirations", he pointed out.

Yobe chairmen refuse to handover after expiration of tenure

Posted: 20 Feb 2019 06:14 AM PST

Ibrahim Gaidam
13 local government chairmen in Yobe State whose elected tenure expired early this month have refused to handover to their Directors of Personal Management as directed by Governor Ibrahim Gaidam.

Our correspondent discovered only four of the seventeen council chairmen have handed over to their DPMs as at the time of filling this report.

The chairmen who have handed over include those of Gulani, Jakuso, Fika and Tarmuwa councils.

Some of the DPMs, who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity, confirmed the development.

"As I speak with you now, only four local government chairmen have handed over to their DPMs in their Local Government. Those that have handed-over are Fika, Gulani, Tarmuma and Jakusko who did his handing over on Tuesday around 5.00pm," one of the DPMs disclosed.

Investigation revealed a close politician to the governor was alleged to have told the chairmen not to hand over with the assurance that Gaidam will reappoint them as caretaker chairmen.

It will be recalled Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam through the Secretary to the State Government directed all the seventeen local government chairmen to hand over to their DPMs on 16th, February 2019 after expiration of their two- year tenure as elected chairmen.

The statement by Shuibu Abdullahi, the Press secretary to the SSG reads: "Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe State has approved the dissolution of Local Govt councils with effect from Saturday 16th February 2019 following the expiration of their tenure in office.

"He further directed the Local Govt Chairmen to hand over the mantle of the leadership to their respective Directors of Personnel Management (DPM)".

A senior Local Government staff noted: "Yobe State has a tradition of re-appointing the Local Government chairmen back to their offices.

"You are aware that some of them have been re-appointed more than twice after their tenure expires.

"This development is apparently making them unperturbed in violating the Governor's order".

But a source close to the governor said:"Except His Excellency changes his mind, he is not ready to re-appoint these chairmen.

"He prefers the DPMs should continue in the remaining months until he hands over power on May 29, 2019".

The SSG, Baba Malam Wali, could not respond to calls and text message sent to him as at the time of filling this report.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftain Affairs in Yobe State, Dawa Maigari, in response to a text message said: "In a meeting. I'll call later".

Nana Tornado slams evangelist for calling alcohol drinkers senseless “Even Jesus Christ got drunk”

Posted: 20 Feb 2019 05:00 AM PST

Nana Tornado slams evangelist
Ghanaian actor, Nana Tornado has slammed gospel singer and evangelist, Diana Asamoah for speaking against alcohol drinkers.

Diana Asamoah labeled all those who drink alcohol as senseless people.

According to the missioner, the Bible in the book of Ephesians 5:18 categorically described such people as senseless.

Diana Asamoah also wondered why some people who see nothing wrong in drinking alcohol would still not board a vehicle being driven by someone drunk on alcohol. To her, that is another height of senselessness.

Rubbishing Diana's stance, Nana Tornado said,

"Diana Asamoah is a mad woman…The Bible even tells us that her Jesus Christ got drunk and slept deeply whilst travelling by ship on the sea with his disciples and the disciples had to scream his name several times before he woke up".

Keyamo, Melaye clash over Buhari’s ballot snatching statement

Posted: 20 Feb 2019 04:09 AM PST

Festus Keyamo
The Director, Strategic Communication of President Muhammadu Buhari, Festus Keyamo and Senator Dino Melaya of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday clashed over the President statement on punishment meant for those who snatch ballot boxes.

At a political discussion on Channels Television, Keyamo said the President merely justified the position of the law, which outlines punishment for those who used forceful means to dispossess of their right to free electoral participation.

He said the position of the President was to warn the violent minority who tried to make life unbearable for the peaceful majority.

Keyamo said the President would not seat aloof, while some thugs tried to derail the free will of the people to decide how they wanted to be governed.

He said: "What the President said is 100 per cent correct. The law is that when you are caught at the scene of an attack, for fomenting violent, like ballot snatching, that is you have threatened peoples live and the punishment for that is death.

"Again, when the President said those who snatch ballot boxes, will be punished, he did not mention APC or PDP. He simply said those who snatch boxes, so why is the PDP making issues out of it."

Responding, Malaye said the President statement was too harsh, noting that people could only by punished after going through due process and found guilty of the offences they are accused of committing.

He said government position amount to curing illegality with illegality, noting that it leaves the electoral process in a precarious situation.

"We are supposed to be in a civilized country, where there should be decorum. It is so appalling that such a statement emanated from the President.  And instead of apologizing, the APC is trying to justify the statement of the President."
