The media personality made this known via her Instagram page on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. In her post, she admonished women to seize on the opportunity of achieving their goals and aspirations over designer bags and all expensed paid trips.

"I'm dropping this here. I'm tired. Keep the LVs and Chanels. No, your travel agent should not call me. Since you're ready to throw it away, why not be an angel investor for the same amount? Vimbai
"No wonder so many of my sisters are sucked into this cycle. Ladies, don't play yourselves. It may be harder the honest way, but let no man convince you that borrowed moments of luxury are more valid than chasing your dreams. 5 stylish ways to rock jeans to work

Posted: 06 Feb 2019 09:00 PM PST

Wearing jeans to work as easy as it seem might actually be a daunting task! See pointers to wear the versatile piece perfect.
Jeans has become a versatile wardrobe staple that almost everyone owns; it's easily the most owned piece of clothing globally, so why not incorporate this piece seamless into even the most tricky work inspired look?

Wearing jeans to work as easy as it seem might actually be a daunting task; you'd want to stay professional and won't want to be under or over dressed in it!

Note that you should only wear jeans to work if your office dress code doesn't frown at it. Even on a casual work Friday, there are still ways to style it so as not to be inappropriate at one's workplace.

There are perfect guides to wear your denims stylish work chic below:

1. Wear dark tones

It's best to wear dark wash jeans if looking to style for work. Light and medium washes often look too casual for work. Choose jeans with a uniform wash and free from any form of embellishments (except it's for the office party).

2. Style jeans with boyfriend blazer

A well tailored jacket will add a hint of professionalism to your denim detailed getup. A well tailored blazer gives an impression of 'meaning business' where worn with the right kind of jeans will be effortlessly chic.

3. Wear jeans with classic cuts

Wear jeans in classic cuts to work. Opt for wide-legged trouser-type jeans since they are sewn in the shape of dress trousers. Boot-leg cuts and skinny jeans could work as well. Avoid overly clingy fits so it doesn't come off too sexy or inappropriate for work.

4. Pair jeans with a classic button-down shirt

To bring a work chic theme to the look, pair jeans with button down shirt. Collared button-down shirts are the trademark of a traditional office wear so this works perfectly.

5. Pair denim with pumps

To create a business-like appeal switch the flats/sneakers for a pair of pumps. A closed-toe mid-heel pump will make your jeans look much dressier and smarter. Don't go all out in towering heels or glittery sandals as those look unprofessional!

2019: Atiku Abubakar Is Free To Campaign At Sani Abacha Stadium - Kano State Government

Posted: 06 Feb 2019 04:41 PM PST

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar
Kano state government has said the former Vice President and presidential candidate of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is free to use the Sani Abacha Stadium for his presidential campaign in the state.

The PDP presidential candidate is scheduled to be in Kano on the 10th of February for his political rally, but Kano state government ordered for the closure of the venue of the rally over alleged total renovation of the facility.

Confirming the development, the state's Commissioner of Information, Malam Muhammad Garba said the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has ordered contractor handling renovation works at the stadium to immediately demobilize to pave way for Atiku's campaign to hold, Daily Trust reports.

Garba, however, indicated that the directive does not affect ongoing overhaul of the Indoor Sports Complex.
The contractor has been directed to remove all machineries from the precinct of the stadium till after the campaign rally, while the state darling team, Kano Pillars has been directed to use the Pillars Stadium, Sabon Gari for its training sessions.

"The general renovation of the stadium aimed at giving the stadium a face-lift included the installation of the new scoreboard, the running track and provision of sources for steady water supply to all parts of the stadium," he said.

Garba said prior to the closure of the stadium, the PDP had slated February 2 for the rally, which informed government decision to mobilize the contractor only for the party to fix another date for the campaign rally when the contractor had already moved to site.

"As a democrat who believes in freedom of association, the governor did not ordered the closure of the stadium to frustrate the campaign rally of the PDP. The stadium only closed for the intended renovation works,'' he said.

Also commenting on the issue, the Executive Chairman, Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, said the closure of the stadium was far from politics.

He said, "To be honest, the closure of the stadium was far from politics but because we are in the era of politics people, turned it to be political. What happened was that the contract for the renovation of the stadium was awarded by the state government months ago and work has started at the indoor section of the stadium.

"Therefore, after the visit of the wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari and the recent visit of President Muhammadu Buhari, we realised that many facilities have been vandalised, hence the decision to commence the renovation work."

2019: Atiku Abubakar Launches World’s First Emoji Manifesto To Target Youth Voters

Posted: 06 Feb 2019 04:22 PM PST

The campaign of Nigerian presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar today launched the world's first 'emojified' manifesto in a new effort to attract youth voters.

Drawn from the previously published Atiku Plan, the #AtikuPlanForYOUth brings to life the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate's promises to Nigeria's 130 million under-30s.

In an increasingly noisy debate, the Atiku campaign said the aim was to cut through the rhetoric to help youth voters understand more about the issues that matter most to them.

The novel manifesto 'emojifies' 40 pledges from #TheAtikuPlan across the key areas of government, education, jobs, human capital, economy, business, and sport and culture.

Highlights include pledges that Atiku will:

Nigeria's slowing economy and failing education system have driven youth unemployment to record highs – reaching 38% in the second quarter of 2018. Only 50% of children finish primary school with many of them unable to go to secondary school, resulting in seven million young people each year entering a struggling labour market with few if any relevant skills.

The #AtikuPlanForYOUth is aimed at Nigerians youths looking for major new investment in job creation, apprenticeships and vocational training.

Campaign spokesman Osita Chidoka said: "The #AtikuPlanForYOUth is our way of speaking directly to young people with a positive message of hope for their lives and careers. Our youth have been badly let down during four years of neglect by the Buhari government, which has left them without adequate preparation or opportunities in the modern economy.

"By condensing #TheAtikuPlan into a set of youth-focused promises, we're cutting through the noise to tell young people clearly and simply why Atiku is the only bridge to the brighter future they deserve."

The #AtikuPlanForYOUth was created and launched by @WeVoteAtiku – part of the official PDP election campaign. With Election Day on Saturday, February 16, the campaign is entering its final phase to rally voters behind its pro-business message.

Mr Chidoka continued: "Our young people are our most precious asset today, and our message to them is clear: Act now. Take your future into your hands. Come out and vote for Atiku on February 16th."

WhatsApp introduces new privacy settings for iPhone

Posted: 06 Feb 2019 05:37 AM PST

Popular Facebook-owned chat service WhatsApp has updated its iOS app, on Tuesday, 05 February with support for biometric authentication, allowing users to 'lock' the app with Face ID or Touch ID.

To activate the new feature, you'll need to head to the settings inside the app, then hit "account," "privacy," and "screen lock." There, you can choose to activate Face ID or Touch ID, though of course, the available option will depend on your model of iPhone — Touch ID exists on the iPhone 5S through to the iPhone 8 / 8 Plus. Face ID replaced Touch ID from the iPhone X onward.

Once the feature is activated, you can stipulate if you prefer Face ID or Touch ID used immediately or after 1 minute, 15 minutes, or 60 minutes of inactivity.

Interestingly, WhatsApp hasn't added the option to add a separate passcode and users will have to rely on biometrics like Touch ID or Face ID only which is used to lock the iPhone or iPad.

Previously, WhatsApp made headlines when Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that merging Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram would create a safer experience. He compared the possible merging of the services to iMessage.

Allowing users to lock down WhatsApp behind a biometric authentication system could certainly help that broader mission, and it seems the company is preparing something similar for its Android app, as evidenced by a beta build that recently emerged.

Google now ties your identity to your collected data

Posted: 06 Feb 2019 05:21 AM PST

Google Privacy

Up until recently, Google collected your data but never directly tied your identity to it. It has since lifted the ban on personally identifiable web tracking and can now use all of the information collected from your searches, your email, Youtube, Maps, and all of Google's affiliates, to build a comprehensive profile on you.

In 2007, when Google bought the advertising network DoubleClick, Google founder Sergey Brin made privacy the company's number one priority while contemplating new kinds of advertising products. DoubleClick's database of web-browsing records was kept separate from personal information collected by Google, but now your browsing habits "may be" used in conjunction with what the company knows about you.

This means that the DoubleClick ads you see while browsing could be customized to you based on your name and other personal identifiers. The scarier consequence to this is that Google can now build a profile of any user according to their name and based on everything they write in an email, every website they visit and every search they conduct.

There is a way to opt out of this, however.

To opt-out of Google's identified tracking, visit the Activity controls on Google's My Account page, and uncheck the box next to "Include Chrome browsing history and activity from websites and apps that use Google services."

Non-Governmental Organization
A non-governmental organisation, Child Protection and Women Empowerment Initiative (CPWEI) has charged the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to be civil, nonpartisan and fair to all political parties during the forthcoming general elections.

The Yobe State Coordinator of the NGO, Hajiya Maryam Gambo made the call at the Police Headquarters while visiting the Damaturu Police Commissioner.

"We are here today because NPF is responsible for safeguarding live and properties in the country.

"We believe that election violence can be averted or reduced to the barest minimum if the police is at its best in securing everyone involved in the election exercise", she said.

Gambo lamented how youths are being used to perpetrate violence to achieve political aims. "Over the years, the sponsors of electoral violence have used the youth to perpetrate violence and disrupt the election process.

"During such violence, voters are threatened, intimidated, wounded or even killed in the course of exercising their constitutional rights.

"Today, we, therefore, come out as youths, to say no to election violence and firmly resolved to shun violence in the forthcoming general elections", she added.

The Police Commissioner, Abdulmaliki Sonmonu, who was represented by Assistant Police Commissioner Ihueze Nicodimos expressed his happiness on the decision to shun violence and pledged to ensure peaceful election atmosphere.

Who says money can't buy happiness? Read this.

Posted: 06 Feb 2019 04:21 AM PST

Contrary to the opinion that money cannot buy happiness, different findings have shown that you can spend your income to buy happiness, it only depends on how you spend it.
You don't have to be a millionaire to be happy because happiness doesn't only come through the material goods and money you have in your bank account, true happiness can also come from deep personal connections and life experiences.

Here are ways your money can buy you happiness.

1.      Buy things that add meaning to your life

How to spend your money to buy happiness

The happiness you derive from things that give you pleasure is fleeting. It disappears when the value of the material good depreciates. Instead of spending money on material goods, it is better you spend your money on things that make your life more meaningful. Things that promote self-growth, purpose, and connection with others.

Spending money to invest in yourself will certainly improve your CV, add more meaning to your life and ultimately lead to happiness.

2.      Buy experience

According to a study conducted by Peter Caprariello and Harry Reis, Spending money on experiences with others is what makes us particularly happy. Paying for experiences like vacation, adventure, tourism and so on will give you a good bang of happiness.

3.      Buy time

It's easy to make more money, but no one has the power to generate more time. However, you can use your money to buy yourself some time and convenience when you shop online.

According to a survey conducted, research conducted in the United State of America, spending money on time-saving services promotes happiness and life satisfaction.

4. Spend on others

Another study has also shown that spending money on others provides a greater happiness boost than spending money on stuff.

A Harvard study titled "Using money to benefit others pays off'' shows that people who spend on others are happier than those who spend the money on themselves.

PDP will return smile to faces of Nigerians — Obi

Posted: 06 Feb 2019 04:16 AM PST

Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar
Mr Peter Obi, the Vice-Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says that his party will bring back smiles to the faces of Nigerians when it wins the Feb. 16 presidential election.

Obi said this while addressing newsmen before embarking on a roadshow in Awka on Tuesday.

He said PDP would restore the country's days of economic prosperity which had suffered set back under the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

He said voting back the APC meant "prolonging the suffering in the land".

According to him, the country is collapsing under the watch of incompetent and incapable people; come out en mass on Feb. 16 and vote out this the APC controlled-government.

"Nigeria has the highest number of poor people in the world today where about 90 million are poor that is half of the population.

"About 21 million youths are unemployed, nobody is happy with the situation in the country today and any person that is happy with the situation is not a normal human being.

"PDP is coming back to restore happiness and lessen the sufferings of the people,'' he said.

Earlier, Mr Oseloka Obaze, Chairman of Atiku-Obi Presidential Campaign Council in Anambra, said the PDP was coming with positive ideas on how to rebuild Nigeria.

Obaze expressed confidence on the chances of PDP to win the presidential election, saying Nigerians need a new lease of life.

"PDP findings show that Nigerians are not happy with the present government of APC and re-electing them will worsen the sufferings of the people.

"If you vote for the present government to return, things will be worse than we had in the last three years and a half.

"They made several promises in 2015 and they have not fulfilled any, we want to restore the economy and human dignity in the next four years,'' he said.

Obaze said there was nothing to show that PDP governors in South-East were against the Atiku/Obi ticket as no one had come out openly to say he was not supporting it.

"The PDP governors in the South-East are solidly behind Atiku-Obi ticket, so there is no need to worry about,'' he said.

Has DC comics crossed the line of ethics with its new comic series "Second Coming"?

Posted: 06 Feb 2019 04:13 AM PST

DC Comics has triggered outrage from the Christian community who already have over 150,000 petition signatures calling for the comic to be pulled down.
Acclaimed writer Mark Russell, and illustrator Richard Pace collaborated to create one of the latest additions to the DC Comic universe.

To the writer, he was creating a satirical commentary on Christianity and its corrupted modern gospels — think "conscious message meets parody" — but his work has, so far, been called "blasphemous" and "inappropriate".

The new comic series, Second Coming, focuses on Jesus Christ who is "sent by God to learn from Sun-Man, a powerful jock superhero whom the heavenly father might actually love a little more than his own begotten son."

On the official DC website, the synopsis of the first issue says: "Witness the return of Jesus Christ, as He is sent on a most holy mission by God to learn what it takes to be the true messiah of mankind by becoming roommates with the world's favorite savior: the all-powerful super hero Sun-Man, the Last Son of Krispex! But when Christ returns to Earth, he's shocked to discover what has become of his gospel—and now, he aims to set the record straight."

In an interview about the comic, Russell tells Bleeding Cool that with the comic, he wanted to comment on the limitations of superpowers. "Sun-Man has to deal with things like his grandmother succumbing to dementia or that he can't adopt," he says, "because he's technically not a human being, and his wife wants a baby. These are the sorts of problems that superpowers are utterly helpless against. Jesus brings this very different view on how power can be used."

So, what lines have been crossed?

"The conceit is that God was so upset with Jesus's performance the first time he came to Earth, since he was arrested so soon and crucified shortly after, that he has kept him locked-up since then."

This is one of the statements Russell offered, in his interview, as a plot sequence for the story.

Many Christians, in reaction to his interview, have expressed outrage, especially a group called CitizenGo, who started a petition to have DC comics discontinue the series. In their statement, they say: "This blasphemous content should not be tolerated. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. His story should not be ridiculed for the sake of selling comic books... Can you imagine the media and political uproar if DC Comics was altering and poking fun at the story of Muhammad... or Buddha?"

While I cannot speak about "what would have been", I can speak about what should have been.

First, it's important to note that there are ethics a fiction writer has to abide by when writing about historical figures and events, as well as characters with identities that the writer doesn't "own". In this case, both clauses apply.

Of course, writers cannot be expected to only create clones of themselves in stories they understand, but should be allowed to be brave in telling stories they want to see. But when there are sections that identify with the character(s) and might feel violated, the writer has the responsibility to be respectful, at the very least.

Russell, in his comics, threw all ethics to the wind by referencing Jesus Christ, who is the main pillar in the Christian faith and who, according to history, lived and walked the Earth. The writer not only attacked Christ's "performance", but portrayed Christ as a clueless sidekick who has to learn the ways of being of a saviour from Sun Man.

All this with the aim to share his self-righteous, self-important socially-conscious message that Christians have "really misunderstood the teachings of the Bible and of Christ."

I believe that in this era where pieces on culture, race, gender, ethnicity and sexual orientation are subjected to strict scrutiny for political correctness, the same energy and respect should be accorded religion, especially when one is trespassing.

On the other hand, parodies like this have been put out for the longest time, to which a majority of Christians have often overlooked.

Beyonce's personal makeup artist shares the secret to her flawless look

Beyonce's personal makeup artist shares the secret to her flawless look
Beyoncé's makeup artist Sir John is one of the most sought after makeup artists in the world and he has come to our rescue with some precious beauty tips.

Sir John, a L'Oréal Paris Makeup ambassador who has also worked with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, and Priyanka Chopra, is an expert in achieving a flawless look, and this week he shared his tips on making your face look amazing.

He also pointed out the common mistakes people often make when it comes to applying their makeup from too much concealer to using the wrong techniques,
Firstly he shared that when it comes to under-eye circles, most people are using too much concealer altogether.

''Taking your concealer, laying it on thick, and dragging it underneath your eyes is one of the worst things you can do because you don't need that much product,'' he told Cosmopolitan magazine. He continued, ''I take the concealer and do a dots situation under the eye — one, two, three, four dots. On Instagram, the first thing people do is slather it everywhere, but I cringe when I see that. You don't need that much product.''

He then shared that the secret to a flawless application is all in the technique. He said, ''If you're using your index finger, you're doing it wrong, it's too strong, so it won't give a uniform finish. Lightly tap using your ring finger, you'll apply much less pressure.''

He also pointed out that body heat can change the texture of makeup, making using your fingers a must, since it can make it look more natural.

However, if you prefer using a brush, he admits that ''you need to think about how you're holding your brush, your grip should be further down, towards the end, not near the top.'' Sir John suggests using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, which can ''really get in there and it almost airbrushes you''.

As for the formula, Sir John said some people make the mistake of wearing lightweight concealer, when they should be buying a fuller coverage one and just applying it lighter.

But that doesn't mean you should use that one heavy-duty concealer everywhere: The beauty pro added that everyone should have two concealers as well as two foundations, since no one's skin is the same color all over.

Finally, if you ever brush pressed powder on your face, Sir John says that's a big no-no.  as he claims it's ''so heavy and drying and it's really counterproductive'' when he spoke with Refinery29.

Sir John said that people should apply foundation to a freshly-moisturised face with a Beautyblender sponge, layering cream blush with powder blush, and setting eyebrows with a glue stick instead of brow gel.

Well, we're not sure if using a glue stick is a step too far but if it's good enough for Beyonce, who are we to disagree?!

Good news dieters! Study says fasting may reverse effects of ageing

Good news dieters! Study says fasting may reverse effects of ageing
People fast for a variety of reasons from religion to diet purposes and though it has proven effective for those respective reasons, researchers have found that it may boost metabolism and reverse the biological effects that come with ageing.

Researchers from the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) and Kyoto University focused their study on four fasting individuals to study the whole human blood and the changing levels of metabolites.

At the end of the study, 44 metabolites, including 30 that were previously unrecognized, were found to increase among subjects between 1.5 fold to 60 fold within 58 hours of fasting.

Several antioxidants, such as ergothioneine and carnosine, also increased significantly over the study period.

These antioxidants protect cells from free radicals produced during metabolism.

"These are very important metabolites for maintenance of muscle and antioxidant activity, respectively. This result suggests the possibility of a rejuvenating effect by fasting, which was not known until now," Takayuki Teruya, lead researcher, said.

Previous research by the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) had identified various metabolites like leucine and isoleucine that decline with age.

Researchers say an increase in the qualities of these metabolites, therefore, suggests an increase in longevity.

"These are very important metabolites for maintenance of muscle and antioxidant activity, respectively," said Teruya.

"This result suggests the possibility of a rejuvenating effect by fasting, which was not known until now."
