Veteran Nigerian rapper, Eldee The Don has reacted to the ongoing Yahoo Yahoo saga which has already landed two rappers, Naira Marley and Zlatan in EFCC's net in connection with an alleged case of internet fraud and money laundering. Eldee slammed those who see 'Yahoo' as a form of reparation for slavery and says he's shocked by the percentage of Nigerians trying to justify fraud. In a series of posts, he wrote, One of the early signs of anarchy is when a society loses its moral compass. I can't believe the percentage of Naijans out there trying to justify fraud. I hear people trying to suggest that Yahoo is a form of reparation for slavery. Terrorists have similar logic. The people you end up hurting and destroying their lives have done absolutely nothing to deserve your aggression. When you defraud innocent people of their life savings, you could be destroying their lives and that of their children. They may live on a different continent but they are people just like you. I also hear the excuse that things are so difficult that most Naijans are forced to have to become fraudsters. My question is this, why stop at fraud, why not carry a gun and rob people? It is the same logic, No? There are Nigerians who don't have to loot, steal or Destry anybody else's lives in order to "survive". If fraudsters targeted corrupt governments or corrupt leaders, the "Robinhood"argument could make some sense but what do you do with the stolen money other than to buy a Benz, some Gucci and to pop bottles, to further oppress your own people? Social media has gone ablaze after reports that wife of Ghanaian movie actor, Chris Attoh's wife, Bettie Jenifer was shot dead in the United States. Bettie Jenifer of Bowie(44) was shot in the head by an unknown gunman at the parking lot of her office building in Maryland on Friday evening, NBC Washington reports. "Police were searching for a gunman who fatally shot a woman in the head in the parking lot of a Maryland office building Friday," said the news outlet."The woman, identified as 44-year-old Bettie Jenifer of Bowie, had left the office in the 6300 blocks of Ivy Lane and was walking to her car when a man armed with a handgun approached her, the Greenbelt police department said." Bettie reportedly tried to run away, but the gunman followed her firing at her multiple times, with at least one shot fatally hitting her. The actor's wife was pronounced dead before police arrived at the scene of the crime. The shooter reportedly this build man, fled the scene immediately. Chris Attoh tweeted about his 'shaky' marriage, 30 minutes after his wife Bettie Jennifer was shot dead in Maryland, United States. Recall that we reported that Bettie Jennifer was shot dead on Friday around 5pm, and was pronounced dead when police arrived at the crime scene. Chris Attoh and Bettie Jenifer married at a ceremony in Accra October 2018. This was shortly after divorcing his first wife, Nigerian actor DamiloIa Adegbite, with whom he has a son. Last week, Chris Attoh sparked speculation on social media that all was not well with his second marriage after he deleted all of Bettie's pictures from his social media pages. It was gathered that Henry was on his way home from the club in the wee hours of Wednesday, May 8, when the unfortunate incident happened. It was learnt that four people were in the car when the accident occurred. One of the accident victims is reported to be unconscious and currently receiving treatment in hospital. Confirming his death, Nollywood actress Ayo Adesanya has mourned the death of Mr Henry. She wrote about the fact that she was getting ready to join his movie location when the news of his death filtered in. The Actress who shared Mr Henry's picture to mourn his demise revealed how bitter the news made her feel, she wrote: Am sad today ……Am sad because right here and about now am supposed to be posting your set pics but its so sad and painful that i heard these terrible news …when you invited me to come on board your new production i had looked forward to being a part of it with utmost enthusiasm …just to be told of your demise as i was about to come for your shoot today… Rest in peace MR HENRY …this is just a reality check… that tomorrow is never certain …only Gods mercy keeps us alive … The news of his death was also announced by actor cum politician, Yul Edochie via his Instagram page. JAMB announces 15 year-old boy, Ekele Franklin from Imo State, as the overall best candidate in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted between April 11 and April 15.Franklin, who made University of Lagos his first choice, scored 347 and may not be admitted because of his age.The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this at a news conference to announce the release of the results in Abuja on Saturday.Emmanuel Chidebube, a 16-year-old boy from Abia State, came second with a score of 346, while Isaac Olamide, a 17-year-old from Osun State came third with 345.In all, 2,906 candidates scored over 300 as against 4,683 in 2018.According to Oloyede, 57,579 candidates scored between 250 and 299 as against 64,120 in the 2018 results. He said 366,757 candidates also scored between 200 and 249, which is a significant improvement from the 2018 results. "361,718 candidates scored between 180 and 199 as against 325,152 in 2018, while 494,484 scored between 160 and 179 as against 455,898 last year. "410,844 candidates scored between 140 and 159 as against 346,825 recorded in 2018,. while also 99,463 scored between 100 and 139 as against 64,712 in 2018," he said. The registrar said that about 1,792,719 candidates sat for the exams, while 34,120 candidates had their results withheld for examination malpractice. Oloyede stated that 15,145 results were withheld for further clarification. The registrar, therefore, advised candidates to use the phone number used for registration and text it to 55019 to get their results instantly. Oloyede identified a lot of infractions from candidates and Computer Based Centres (CBT) owners ranging from multiple registration, manipulation of biometrics and deliberate destruction of power sources during the examination. "No doubt, examination malpractice is a cankerworm that has eaten deeply not only into Nigeria but also the rest of the world, especially the developed countries such as the USA and U.K. "In Nigeria too, examination malpractice is exacerbated by the insatiable greed and desperate antics of parents, who are hell-bent on inducting their innocent and not-so-innocent children into the world of sharp practices and corruption. "Double registrations led to the cancellation of some results last year, but we realised that this year not only double registrations but also multiple registrations were recorded. "Someone for instance registered as many as 23 times for just a single examination. "On impersonation, in the 2019 UTME, we were able to identify a large number of impersonators, who have been writing UTME for candidates. "Most of the tutorial masters specialise in recruiting such professional writers for the candidates. "They do so by using the names directly or variants of the names or by multiple registrations. "An example is Anambra State where two centres registered a large number of impersonating candidates. In such cases, the results of the candidates have been cancelled and the CBT centres delisted. "We have also tracked the registration centres and the computers used. In cases where we were able to ascertain the culpability of the centres, we delisted them," he said. According to the registrar, the fraudsters thought they could beat the system through 'contributed fingers' where two or more persons would use their fingers to register for candidates. "Two examples of this case are in the Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare, where someone's finger(s) was discovered in 42 person's registration and Bauchi State University, Gadau, where one person's is traced to the registration of 64 candidates. "Another example was in Borno State where in Nassara Computer Academy, Maiduguri, 233 candidates had one particular finger included in each of their biometric registration. "We have made representative arrests and we must thank the Inspector-General of Police and the Commandant-General of the NSCDC for their wonderful cooperation. "The I-G actually set up a Special Task Force of the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB), which assisted tremendously in tracking the offenders," he said. Oloyede, however, noted that 116 centres had been delisted for various infractions, saying that 18 of the 116 centres were previously sanctioned by the governing board of JAMB. He, therefore, assured universities of the board's commitment in sending biometrics and photo details of candidates to the universities for post UTME. (NAN)  | ||||

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Saturday broke down in tears in Abuja, as he announced the release of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).Oloyede was in tears over the discovery made during the period of scrutiny of the examination centres.He expressed shock at the extent some candidates went to perfect their cheating in the examination.Oloyede told journalists in Abuja that JAMB identified a large number of impersonators that specialised in writing UTME for candidates, including most of the tutorial masters that also specialised in recruiting professional writers for their candidates, Daily Post reports.He said they used names directly or variants of the name or multiple registrations. In Anambra State, two centres registered large number of impersonating candidates and that led to cancellation of the results and the CBT centres delisted."We also tracked the registration centres and the computers used, he said, adding that "another dimension of impersonation was a futile attempt of defeating the biometric capturing of ten fingers that was introduced in 2017. The fraudsters thought they could beat the system through 'contributed fingers', where two or more persons would use their fingers to register for candidates, thinking that any of them would be able to write for such candidates if the system allowed it. He said the confession, as bad as it was, was good for the Board as, without it, there would have been doubts about the accuracy of the technology deployed to determine and detect the infraction. He highlighted another case in Borno State where, in Nassara Computer Academy, Maiduguri, 233 candidates had one particular finger included in each of their biometric registration. The home of Former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi was reportedly invaded by some policemen recently.According to a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the attack was carried out on the orders of the Rivers Statement.Eze's conclusion, which was contained in a statement sent to PoliticsNGR on Saturday, alleged that the Port Harcourt home of the minister was invaded at the behest of the State government on the 8th of May, 2019.
According to him, the attack occurred shortly after Governor Wike boasted in a TV interview that Amaechi has become so unpopular that he can't move around Port Harcourt safely without Security escort and on a day that the Minister was expected to visit Port Harcourt.He also highlighted that Governor Wike in the said interview stated that the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State has improved tremendously under his watch but the question the Governor refused to answer is, "what had he achieved with the improved IGR and billions of Naira that accrued to the State through the monthly Federation Account Allocation Committee.The Governor have totally achieved nothing with all the huge funds at his disposal as he allows the State to have the highest number of unemployed youths and unpaid salaries to civil servants and pension to Pensioners all these factors have enhanced insecurity in the State. The party chieftain had recently, in a statement addressed to Wike, suggested a couple of answers to solving the fearsome peace and security realities in the state, admonishing him to offer 'true leadership' as governor of the state for the period the laws will allow him to be in office and discard all political activities that had hitherto distracted him from being an exemplary leader. Wike had earlier called a truce in the face off between him and the APC in the state. I am happy to note that Rivers state elders and indigenes in the Diaspora, including those living in and the outside the state, have massively come out to commend me for a well thought out strategy on how to curb insecurity in the state and prayed that His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike, will critically study them, with hopes he will adopt and implement them for the emancipation and development of the state. "To the glory of God not minding very glaring shortcomings, the Governor, through the Attorney General of the state, dropped the trumped up charge of murder against Hon. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, the APC Chairman in Rivers state, as advised in my list of steps or blueprint to achieving peace in the state. "Sadly, however, other recommendations, including candid suggestion that the Governor should dismantle his probe panel on some of Amaechi's former commissioners, the Judicial Panel to try Tonye Cole, the APC gubernatorial candidate during the last futile general election and Chidi Lloyd, as well as other APC leaders listed to be tried, seem to have been jettisoned. "At this point, it will be safe to say if we are canvassing for peace, we should be sincere about it and if we want to nurture the persisting insecurity in the state, let us expressly say so and stop deceiving the general public. "Sadly the governor has abrogated and relieved himself of his constitutionally assigned role as the Chief Security Officer of the State and the only person empowered to ensure the security of all Nigerians residing in his state by handing same key role to the traditional rulers in state when he summoned them to the Government House and threatened to derobe any of them in whose domain cultist activities are found again. "This contradicts my position that a Peace/Security/Reconciliation Summit should be convoked to suggest why we are having this type of situation in Rivers state and proffer solutions "Apart from these steps by the governor, nothing concrete is either done to address some of the strategies I suggested and sadly the governor is still presenting an antagonistic posture against his erstwhile boss and benefactor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. In a recent Channels TV interview, Wike was live on national television criticising and running down the Minister. The icing on the cake of this provocative and aggressive stand of the governor was the attacking of the Minister's house in Port Harcourt. This can't be said to be the best strategy to restore peace in the state. A total of 1, 792, 719, results of candidates who wrote the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has been released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Saturday.In the same vein, the board has also withheld the results of 34,120 candidates including the results of 15,145 candidates it clarified as "identical twins and siblings."JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, in a sixteen page address titled: "Doing things right and doing right things," broke the news to reporters yesterday in Abuja, the nation's capital.Prof. Oloyede said 1, 826, 839 candidates sat for the UTME of the 1,886,508 candidates that registered for the examination which was conducted in 698 computer based test (CBT) centers nationwide from April 11 – 18, The Nation reports.He said: "Today, we are releasing the results of 1,792,719 candidates. The good news is that all right-thinking people appreciate the danger inherent in examination malpractice and are all committed to its elimination." He advised candidates to check their results through the phone numbers they used for registration. "Candidates are advised to use the phone numbers they used to register to text RESULT to 55019. "For the first three days or between now and Monday, the only means of checking the results of candidates would be through the Short Code (55019). This is to ensure that fraudsters who would want to exploit candidates by reproducing messages and sending such messages to them are frustrated. It is also to prevent those whose results are withheld from wasting their money at cyber cafes or creating unnecessary crowd at CBT centers. "There is no need to approach any CBT Center or cyber café to check results. Those who were ABSENT, got their Registration CANCELLED or have their results WITHHELD will be told. "The board has decided to send both photo and biometric details of candidates to Institutions. We have also put bar codes on the result slips that candidates will be printing. The essence of this is that once a candidate approaches an institution for Post-UTME screening, the institution will use the bar code scanner to authenticate the candidate. However, if a candidate brings a manipulated slip as the case may be at times, the Institution can type in the registration number to ensure that it is not a fake slip that is presented. "Candidates who presently enjoy undue favour of benefit of the doubt will then be exposed and more results can then be cancelled for post examination fraud- attempt," he said. The registrar said this year's examination was infiltrated by overzealous parents and professional examination fraudsters who engaged in impersonation in connivance with operators of CBT centers. He said the results of this year's exercise would have been compromised if not for the resistance of the system the board put in place, the integrity of its staff and some noble Nigerians who assisted the board during the process. Others are collusion of some private CBT centre owners with parents, syndicates of some closed centers, deliberate disruption of the examination process and extortion of candidates. He said manipulation of bio-metrics and impersonation were discovered in Anambra, Bauchi, Delta, Borno, Imo and other states. Prof. Oloyede said a staff of the board was paid N1,760, 000.00 in two centres in Akokwe in Ideato Local Government Area, Imo state to compromise the examination. The registrar said the staff is under investigation along others who were provided free accommodation by owners of CBT centers during the examination. The registrar also said the board has de-listed or suspended 116 centres for various infractions during the examination. "A total of 116 Centres have been delisted or suspended. Out of this number, 18 have been sanctioned by the Governing Board of JAMB with suspension for between one and three year for registration related misconduct," he said.  | ||||

On Friday, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world's largest luxury group, confirmed not only that the fashion line created by Rihanna was becoming part of its fashion conglomerate. The line, which will be launching in the next few weeks will irrevocably change the face of fashion, forever. Rihanna will become the first woman to create an original brand at LVMH, the first woman of color at the top of an LVMH maison, and her line will be the first new house created by the group since Christian Lacroix in 1987. The photo was captioned with an official statement by the crimes commission. "Naira Marley, Four Others Quizzed by EFCC over Internet Fraud. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, arrested two fast-rising Nigerian musicians – Afeez Fashola (aka Naira Marley) and Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael (aka Zlatan), in connection with an alleged case of internet fraud and money laundering. Intelligence report had also linked them to cybercrime offenses. They were arrested along with: Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses, and Abubakar Musa.
"Their arrest followed an early morning raid on Friday, May 10, 2019, at 9, Gbangbola Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos. At the point of arrest, the Commission found and recovered a number of items, including laptops, from the suspects. They have so far volunteered useful information about their involvement in the alleged criminal activities, even as investigations continue," the statement reads. The news of Naira Marley's arrest broke the internet in the early hours of Friday May 10, 2019. The spokesman for the crimes commission had earlier confirmed their arrest. Following a viral video showing Nollywood actor, Francis Odega throwing out his wife and also threatened to stab her, police have said the actor would be investigated. In the video, Odega was heard saying he would stab his wife and his sister in law and won't mind going to jail after that. In the same video published by Instablog9ja on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, the actor's daughter, Success Odega pleaded with Nigerians to prevail over her father to pay her school fees. She said: "I am here to beg my father to pay my school fees because all the avenues to reach him have been unfruitful. I am so sad doing this but if this will help me get back to school, I don't mind. I have been suffering and yet I have a dad who is well to do. My mum has been trying her little best to clothe, shelter and feed me but all I ask from him is to pay my school fees so as to be a better citizen and take care of him when he's old. Please I need you to reach out to him or please support my mum to pay my school fees, God bless you." However, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, has reacted to the video saying he has seen it and that police are going to investigate it. Speaking to Punch about the video, Elkana said: "We have not received a complaint from anybody on that issue. We have watched the video and our operatives within that area are mandated to commence investigation on the issue immediately. I don't want to preempt investigation. "We have to investigate the man because the allegation is about him. We have to listen to the wife, daughter, and sister who were witnesses. Professionally we have the mandate as police to investigate.
