If Regina is happy and in love with Ned, let him carry on with good faith. I hope the man feels likewise. In life we all deserve to be happy. Come to think of it age doesn't really count. Fresh reports are emerging concerning the Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi ll, feud, revealing that the two have not reconciled.Alhaji Abba Anwar, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, said even though a reconciliation meeting was held in Abuja on Friday, June 7, the matter has not been resolved, Daily Trust reports.The Governor's Chief Press Secretary said, "Certainly, a reconciliation meeting was organised by Governor Fayemi and Alhaji Aliko Dangote and the governor and emir attended the meeting, the governor has not given his stand on the matter."What I can confirm to you is that the dialogue is still on, therefore, we should wait for the response of the governor."He added that the meeting was attended by many district heads and other traditional rulers.NollywoodTimes.com had earlier reported that Gov. The main opposition party in Nigeria, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has commended the judiciary "for upholding justice and the tenets of democracy, particularly the right of fair hearing, by ordering the immediate reopening of African Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower radio".Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of the Party, gave the commendation in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja.The Apex regulatory body in Broadcasting, had on Thursday announced the suspension of the licences of the African Independent Television and Ray Power FM belonging to the Daar Communications Limited.RELATED: NBC to sanction stations that transmits hate speeches - FGDr Modibbo Kawu, the NBC Director-General, who announced the suspension at a news conference in Abuja, said that the suspension was until further notice.The offences listed by the NBC included the airing of a Presidential election documentary by the AIT, a matter pending before a tribunal, the inability of the company to pay its fees, the use of "divisive and inciting contents from the social media" among others.Ologbondiyan, however, said that by the reopening order issued by the court, which spurred spontaneous jubilation by Nigerians across the country, the judiciary had again "restored hope in our democracy and the rule of law". Mr Kola, added that the judiciary had also demonstrated that "it is indeed the last hope of the common man in the face of an oppressive system". Ologbondiyan condemned what he described as assault on media houses and journalists. He described it as a calculated plot to cow and emasculate the press, asphyxiate free speech and suffocate public opinion. "Our party holds that media intimidation, as a feature of military regime, must not be allowed in a democratic order, adding that there is no way democracy, with its principles and values, can thrive without a free press," he stated. He also urged the security agencies to be guided by the ruling of the court which states that the status quo, as at May 30, be maintained. He said： "As at May 30, there were no security occupation on the premises of Daar Communication, breathing down on journalists and other workers going about their daily activities. "The party also call on the media, as the fourth estate of the realm, not to be cowed but continue to discharge their constitutional duties in national development, in line with its professional ethics and best practices." "The president will be briefed on the outcome of the meeting. Alhamdulillah the emir and the governor are no more quarreling." Dr. Olufunmilayo took to his Twitter page to address the issue of laboratories giving fake HIV/AIDS results to patients. He sheds light on the issue with tweets; I just heard some labs in Lagos are giving people a false HIV result. They declare you as "HIV positive" when you are not. They use expired test strips just to make money from unsuspecting victims who are then thrown into depression. Sad stuff. PLS BE CAREFUL PLEASE if you have done an HIV test, regardless of the result, make sure you repeat it in another two reputable places. Especially if the result is positive in one Centre. It may be false. It may be wrong. Don't let someone throw you into a state of psychological brouhaha. And IF any hospital or laboratory gives you a FALSE result which you later found out was wrong by repeating the test elsewhere, SUE THEM. SUE THEIR ASS! Speak with a lawyer and demand for millions in compensation due to the emotional and psychological damage. You must sue. A lawsuit is the only way many of these unscrupulous businessmen and fraudsters running laboratories can be stopped from this nonsense. Many of them are only bothered about money and nothing but money. Imagine telling someone they are HIV positive and they go kill themselves? How do you later explain to the family who has lost a loved one due to a false laboratory test result that actually the HIV result was wrong? What sort of nonsense is that? If the person is married, do you know that can tear the family apart? This is complete absolute madness. And that also reminds you- Many labs have also given many people WRONG genotype results. A friend of mine was told he was AS then SS then SC- at a point he was told "inconclusive genotype". Like say na INEC conduct the test. Please make sure you recheck your genotype also. Many relationships have ended because people were given wrong HIV & Genotype results. It's absolutely horrendous and terrifying. Please make sure you double check whenever you get those kind of test results. Especially on something as sensitive like HIV and Genotype. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria's former President, has emerged as the first Chairman of the African Union's International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP).The former President, speaking at the International Leadership Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he emerged as the chairperson of the newly inaugurated ISCP, a body made up of mainly African former Presidents and ex-Heads of State, Jonathan urged the AU to set minimum acceptable standards for appointing the leadership of electoral commissions.The two-day conference tagged 'Africa Summit and Leaders Conference 2019' has in attendance government officials, former African Heads of State, clergy and traditional rulers from across Africa.In a keynote speech titled 'The Need for Good Governance and Peaceful Electioneering Process in Africa,' Jonathan noted that the credibility and legitimacy of electoral processes, are hugely dependent on the competence, impartiality and independence of electoral management bodies (EMBs), Daily Post reports.Jonathan said: "It is interesting that almost all the EMBs in Africa are identified with the prefix 'Independent', but the jury is still out on whether these agencies are truly independent as their names imply.RELATED: Former President Goodluck Jonathan Gets New Appointment "The AU should, through its Political Affairs Department, set up a team of electoral experts to study different models and recommend the system they consider best for the continent. "Such benchmark should also take cognizance of the need to review the election of judicial processes to ensure that, where election tribunals are set up to specifically handle election cases, one judicial officer do not handle the role of appointing all members of the tribunals. "Since neutrality of the security services is absolutely necessary in ensuring free and fair elections, it is also important that the Africa Union should establish a code of conduct guiding security officials in charge of elections. All these recommendations should be accommodated in AU's procedures for elections that should serve as guidelines for election observers." Dr. Jonathan went on to praise South Africans, for the peaceful conduct of last May's national and provincial elections. "Once you get to that point where all role players in elections can express confidence in the umpire and the security systems, you would have solved more than 70% of your electoral challenges. Sadly, not many African countries have got to this point. The point where they can beat their chest and boast of political freedom, inclusiveness, independence of the electoral management body and credibility of the political process," he added.  | ||

Thousands of Liberians have protested against alleged failures to tackle corruption, economic mismanagement and injustice under President George Weah.According to the Guardian UK, more than 5,000 people turned out in Monrovia, Liberia's capital, despite the rain for what witnesses described as one of the city's biggest protests in the history of the country.George Weah, former Liberian professional footballer has been in power barely 18 months. He succeeded Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, a Nobel peace prize laureate who won great acclaim, but was however accused of nepotism.A recent report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated that since Weah's emergence as Liberia's president, inflation has soared and growth has shrunk, adding that the government's wage bill was too high.Also, the rising cost of living has had a devastating effect on many in a country where 64% of the population live below the poverty line.RELATED: George Weah Wins Liberia Presidential Election In July 2018, President Weah, in a bid to mop up Liberian dollars and control inflation, ordered a cash injection of US$25m (£19.6m) into the economy. He, however, reportedly admitted last week that $8m of the money had not been used and he was trying to find out where it had gone. He also announced the retirement of the central bank's governor and the resignation of the governor's deputy, saying there was "a major lack of systems and controls" at the institution. An investigation into rumours that $102m in newly printed banknotes had disappeared found no evidence of this but said there were problems of "accuracy and completeness" in the central bank's internal records. Meanwhile, before the protest on Friday, the government blocked social media and messaging services, according to the civil society group NetBlocks and many users in Monrovia. The Nigeria Electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it cannot give Certificate of Return(COR) to any individual that harasses, intimidates and puts the Commission's officers under pressure in order to secure a favourable declaration.INEC said this in response to a court ruling ordering INEC to issue Rochas Okorocha his Certificate of Return as the winner of Imo West Senatorial Election.Rochas Okorocha, had during the declaration of the election result, allegedly kidnapped Prof. Innocent Ibeawuchi, a returning officer in Imo and forced him to announce him as the winner of the election.The National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye Esq., in a statement said, the INEC received a copy of the judgment while also noting that it is also in possession of another court order of a high court in Imo State directing the electoral body not to issue Okorocha Certificate of Return, SaharaReporters reports.RELATED: INEC To Pay Okorocha On Court Order For Withholding Certificate Of Return"The commission's overriding consideration is the safety of its ad-hoc staff, Electoral Officers and Collation/Returning Officers and is worried that if electoral impunity is allowed to flourish, any individual can harass, intimidate and put the Commission's officers under duress, procure a favourable declaration and be rewarded with a Certificate of Return," Okoye said.  | ||
