Posted: 05 Dec 2019 05:19 AM PST February 22 – February 29 Students: Register by December 15. All UMD students (from any major or year) are invited to participate! Are you creative? Analytical? Have a knack for solving complex problems? The UMD Data Challenge (DC20) is an annual week-long competition held by the University of Maryland, where students across colleges and programs solve real-world problems using data from organizations such as Amazon Web Services and the National Cancer Institute.

Participants compete in teams up to a maximum of 4 members. All participants must register individually by December 15. Starting January 30, 2020, participants will have the opportunity to register for a team. Don't have a team? We have you covered! There will be a Team Building Event on February 7 for a chance to meet other students and form a team. Once maximum registration is reached, you will be put on a wait-list. Wait-listed students are not guaranteed participation. So register early, as this event fills up quickly! Participants must be present on the UMCP campus both February 22 (Kick-off Event) and February 29 (Presentation and Judging Event) from 9am-5pm. |

Spring 2020 Program Assistant Internship Posted: 04 Dec 2019 01:17 PM PST The Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN) offers premiere leadership and public policy programs for college women. Their mission is to increase the number of women influencing all aspects of the public policy process. They do this by focusing on college women, bringing them to Washington, DC for seminars throughout the academic year. PLEN seeks qualified candidates for our Spring 2020 Program Assistant Internship. They offer a dynamic environment for interns to develop their professional skills, build their network, and gain experience working at a small nonprofit. Responsibilities include:
Deadline: Open until position is filled. Early application is encouraged as screening will be conducted as applications are received. Preferred start date: January 20, 2020 (or before). 15 to 20 hours/week or more. Benefits: Stipend is available. PLEN encourages interns to attend events in DC during their internship and will be flexible to accommodate those that take place during work hours. Interns are expected to attend PLEN events when possible, including seminars, networking receptions, fundraising events, etc. |
