Posted: 20 Jun 2020 01:00 AM PDT

Handsome 32-year-old Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson, has 'cancelled' Dbanj in his books over the rape allegations levied against the singer.

It can be recalled that after Miss Seyitan Eunice Babatayo accused Dbanj of rape, the singer would go on to file a N100 million lawsuit against her.

Yesterday, news began to to filter yesterday that Miss Seyitan Eunice Babatayo has been detained and is being held by the police.

Surprisingly she would go on to make post on her social media, promoting his songs.

Reacting to the turn of events, Timini Egbuson, said he has canceled Dbanj in his books, adding that it would be repulsive if it was all a publicity stunt.

He wrote;

"I'm normally against cancel culture but Dbanj is cancelled in my books for real if this all some sort of publicity stunt. 🤮

Anyone with these type of accusations is foul and should face the full wrath of the law. What is even more disgusting than a cover up is using this as an opportunity to promote his next song, which was what I meant. "

It all started when Yul Edochie took to his Instagram account and shared a page from today's Bible teaching from Daily Manna 2020.

The page Yul shared from the Bible manual reads: "Today, the present world has overtaken Sodom and Gomorrah in immorality and wickedness, Man has degraded himself to the point of getting married to animals. The LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community is ever increasing with new abominable sexual orientations every day. The world classifies all these under the caption of "human rights" and the need to accept others; diversity. This was exactly what happened in Judah at this time."

View this post on Instagram

I know you guys absolutely love to spread all sorts of rumours and stories for your entertainment and I've known from Day 1 what to expect from blogs and the internet especially with myself and family being in the public space. I have never once come out to respond to any blogger or react to any rumour mongers before as quite frankly it has never been my nature to engage in online battles or pay too much mind to social media. But I must say I have found quite disturbing the stories of domestic abuse between myself and David and for once feel a need to speak up. Domestic violence and abuse is NO JOKE and not something to ever take lightly. Never has there ever been an incident of abuse in my home. He has never in his life lifted a finger to touch me and I have never so much as even pushed him. I believe with everything we peddle as human beings whether offline or online, we should have a bit of fear of God more so when speaking on things we know absolutely nothing of. I'm not sure where in the world such stories have started from, but I want to ensure everyone showing concern whether fake or real, that such has never and will never happen. Further, we do not take such allegations of abuse lightly at all and if such persists then we will be jointly taking up action against the perpetrators of these disgusting rumors. To the beautiful young ones out there, never ever allow a man to lay his hands on you while you keep quiet. If you were ever to suffer such, ensure you SPEAK UP! With all that is going on in the world right now, we most certainly can not sit around and condone or encourage women to condone such! Love, Chioma ❤️

Rema named Apple Up Next Artist

Posted: 19 Jun 2020 05:30 AM PDT

Earlier today, June 17, 2020, Apple Music announced Nigerian artist, Rema as its latest artist on the 'Up Next' program - Apple Music's monthly artist initiative geared towards identifying, showcasing and elevating rising talent.

This also comes with an interview with Ebro Darden.

According to Apple Music, "Since the debut of his Rema - EP in March 2019, Rema has become the #18 World Artist across Apple Music based on lifetime plays."

Rema tells Apple Music that, "Getting recognised by Apple as their Up Next artist is a huge deal for me. I want to take Afrobeats to the world and now the world is listening, it's an honour. This has come during a time when across the world people are uniting and coming together to fight for justice.

"This generation, my generation, are standing up and speaking out and it's amazing to see, I am standing right beside them."

Ebro Darden, Apple Music's Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B Ebro Darden notes that, "Rema embodies the youth movement emerging from the continent of Africa. His voice has carried him from Benin City, Nigeria to Barack Obama's 2019 Summer Playlist.

"He's been co-signed by Drake and Rihanna and has remixes to his music with Becky G, Matoma and Major Lazer. Rema is a shy, young artist who has managed to capture the world's attention with his art. We are excited to amplify him further and can't wait to see what he'll do with his platform next."

Rema's Up Next short was recorded remotely in Lagos by the artist himself. During the interview, Rema talks about how he got his name. After Darden asked Rema what his name means and how he got it the artist replies, "It means a revelation from another dimension.

"The full name is 'RHEMA,' but I shortened it to 'Rema'... I got it from church, I felt my sound resonates with the name... I started calling myself Rema. I started calling myself Rema when I was 14 - I used to call myself Blitz... I switched my name from Blitz to Rema because I felt Rema matches my sound."

The MAVIN artist then repeats his manifesto, "The goal is to take Africa to the world, if the world can't come to Africa. That's the plan."

RIP Dan Foster: The 'Big Dawg' goes home

Posted: 19 Jun 2020 05:00 AM PDT

The idea sometimes intersects the divide between colorful persona and masculine humour. Other times, it's a combination of charming bravado and media nous. But on most days, the man known as Dan Foster was a masterful on-air personality who couldn't be silenced even after 'ikebe' was taken from his mouth.

Born Daniel Foster in Washington D.C, United States, he was raised by his father alongside three other siblings after losing their mother at the age of 10.

So he remained till his death on June 17, 2020.

On how his career began, he told Ndani TV in 2014 that, "Telling stories is what I've always wanted to do. I could read well from the very beginning and I attribute that to not watching TV. If you're at home, kill your television!

"There was a lot of competition in America. I came to Nigerian because I needed more experience in morning radio..."

According to him, he always had "morning radio energy," but America radio only afforded him 7 pm - 12 am slots.

"Kill your television!"

Born Daniel Foster in Washington D.C, United States, he was raised by his father alongside three other siblings after losing their mother at the age of 10. In his youth, he studied Broadcasting and Drama at Morgan State University. Baltimore, Maryland - close to his origin.

An ex-marine, he was employed by Cathy Hughes Radio One, Mix 106.5 in America, and WTBN in the American Virgin Island. In the 2000s, just as the modern Nigerian radio was fusing with the early stages of Nigerian contemporary pop, Dan Foster moved to Nigeria and joined Cool FM in 2000.

He got the job in Nigeria through a website that allowed radio personalities to showcase their best work. One of the clips got to Chris Obosi and he sent a letter to Dan Foster. The rest as they say is history.

Almost immediately, people took to his voice, gimmicks, accent and quick assimilation of the Nigerian space and he shot into the limelight. With knowledge of anything related to lifestyle, entertainment and popular culture, he was revered for his ability to thrill while also informing his array of dedicated listeners.

Around the same time, Lagos had about three or four radio stations and Foster studied each other those stations to get their 'morning energy' and find a formula to best all of them. While Nigeria had successful radio personalities before Dan Foster, he can be revered as one of the modern mavens of morning radio in Nigeria.

"We're Inspiration FM, your official family radio..."
In September 2009, Foster left Cool FM for Inspiration FM because of the value it offered and the family aspect that Inspiration FM oozed. From there, he moved to City FM in 2016 and then to Classic FM where he worked till his death.

It was during his time at Inspiration FM that controversy hit Foster the most. According to a report on Encomium Weekly, he was forced to resign form Inspiration FM after internal issues with management.

Acting and Show Judge

In 2007, he became a judge on Idols West Africa alongside Dede Mabiaku and Abrewa Nana. In 2012, he became a judge on Nigeria's Got Talent alongside Kate Henshaw and Yibo Koko. In a viral clip, he infamously fell off his seat after a hilarious audition by a Nigerian comedian.

In between the drama, he had a highly publicized relationship with media mogul, Linda Ikeji.

Awards
In 2001, he was named Best Radio Presenter by the Nigeria Merit Award. In 2003, 2004, and 2005, he was named the Best Radio Personality at the Nigerian Media Merit Award.

He is survived by his wife, Lovina and four children.

Mercy and Tacha finally make Peace? on the 10th day of BBNaija Pepper Dem Reunion

Posted: 19 Jun 2020 04:30 AM PDT

Episode 10 of the ongoing Pepper Dem reunion show did not have the fireworks but what it missed in that section, it made up for with a long overdue moment.

Catch the highlights of the latest episode of Big Brother Naija Pepper Dem Reunion Show.

In a not so surprising turn of event, show host, Ebuka introduced the past season's most controversial housemates- Mercy and Tacha.

As you may recall, the former housemates and their teeming fan base have made little to no attempt to hide that there is no love lost between them. But for good old Big Brother's sake, Mercy and Tacha tried to iron out their difference and the receipts will shock you!

Before the Infamous hair flip, the duo were 'cool'

Tacha put conspiracy theorists to rest when she revealed on the show that before the disqualifying fight, she had congratulated Mercy on securing immunity while they were both in the bathroom. Things however got heated after Cindy blew a careless statement she made out of proportion.

For the unfortunate incident, Tacha admitted to letting her agitation from being up for possible eviction for the umpteenth time and at such a critical time in the game get to her.

Don't believe everything you see on the Gram
Add Twitter to the mix! For the lot who would have sworn that the heads of the Titans and Mercenaries are archenemies, episode 10 had some eye-opening revelation from the horses' mouths.

Both Mercy and Tacha shared that their relationship was not as toxic as their fans made it out to be. Since the 2019 show, the two had exchanged a few calls but primarily dealt with miscommunication which Tacha claimed had very little to do with her including Mercy's accusation that she trolled her on social media.

The juicy update is some Mercenaries have pulled up receipts of Tacha trolling Mercy.

The Ubi-fold Cord
At some point, the former housemates gave room for a conversation about the role popular record label boss, Ubi Franklin, played in one of their many online rifts. Mercy explained the label boss tried to rope her into what she assumed was a sham makeup between her and Tacha.

A possible end to the Titan/Mercenary Feud?
Tacha and Mercy may be on the path to mending their relationship. The episode ended with the duo admitting most of the grey areas in their relationship existed due to miscommunication and that they were willing to actually finally bury the hatchet and look forward to a future of champagnes on the beach and a chance to live Tacha's "When women gather together, failure is impossible" mantra.
