Senator Girei Slam SGF Mustapha, Gov Bindow Because Of Indirect Primaries

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 02:37 PM PDT

Senator Abubakar Gire

A former Senator from Adamawa State and 2015 governorship aspirant in the state, Abubakar Girei, has condemned in strong terms the recent position of the Adamawa State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) calling for indirect primaries in the state.

Girei chating with newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday, said that;

"The so-called state committee meeting of the APC that was summoned by Governor Jibrilla Bindow in government house and his cronies are demanding for indirect primaries on the ground that Adamawa is not safe for direct primaries is far from the reality.

"Therefore, their appeal to the Chairman National Working Committee to allow for indirect primaries in Adamawa state should not be taken serious because it is anti people in the present circumstance.

"This is clearly what we have been talking about in the last six to seven months. The attitude of politicians who have lost touch with realities on ground and are not even aligning with the objectives and aspirations of President Muhammadu Buhari is already becoming public.

"Mr President who is a champion of anti-corruption war cannot be seen to support anything with corrupt tendencies.

"Those who hide under the banner of insecurity to advocate for indirect primaries, are they saying there would be no election in Adamawa State in 2019?

"The Indirect primaries they are talking about, is it not going to be after direct Congresses that will elect delegates for the canvassed indirect primaries? Are they trying to make Adamawa people to continue to waste their time from one election to another?

"To my surprise, the Secretary of the Government of the Federation created that confusion. For supporting indirect primaries, he is working against his principal who is in support of direct primaries, fairness, equity, and justice.

"The Secretary to the Federal Government coming to align himself with jibrilla Bindow who has lost out completely is a misplaced priority.

"I want to advise my good friend Barrister Boss Mustapha, a refined gentleman by all standard, to retrace his steps as quickly as possible, because that stand is not good for the people of Adamawa, the country and the APC."

APC Secretariat Invaded By Thugs, Set Flag Ablaze

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 02:37 PM PDT

APC

Agency report:

There was pandemonium today as residents of Okitipupa in Okitipupa Local Government Area (LGA) of Ondo State, ran for safety as unknown thugs invaded and disrupted activities at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), some parts of the secretariat were destroyed by the suspected thugs, setting party flags ablaze and tearing posters of candidates vying for chairmanship, councillor-ships and ward leaders at the secretariat.

An eye witness who would like to remain anonymous told NAN that the thugs came in their numbers, besieged the secretariat, singing solidarity songs and disrupted activities as residents in the area scampered for safety.

"Some of the thugs stormed the secretariat to disrupt activities and tear posters of candidates, just as many of the people scampered for safety.

"Their action is unconnected with the alleged mishandling of delegates' lists and names submitted for Ward positions by some leaders of the party at the state level.'' The witness said.

The eye witness while speaking, said that the thugs warned that there will be no peace during the forthcoming chairmanship and councillor-ship elections in the local government if the will of the people is not respected.

"They said that until the names submitted at ward levels for the posts are restored and the voice of the people respected, peace will not reign in the forthcoming elections,'' the witness quoted the thugs as saying.

Meanwhile, the APC Chairman, Okitipupa Local Government Area, Mr Bode Ikulala, who confirmed the incident, told NAN that the list of delegates' were not out as at the time the incident occurred.

He said that the people concerned should have registered their grievances through appropriate quarters, rather than taking laws into their hands.

"I was in Akure when the incident happened and they told me that some people came to destroy things at the secretariat over an alleged change in delegates' lists, which have yet to be released, even as we speak.

"Those people are certainly not APC members because if husband and wife have differences, for instance, and the house is destroyed, when they later settle, where will they live?'' he asked.

Ikulala, however said that the situation would be brought under control as he had already contacted the Police over the matter.

APC Talks On ‘Planned Defection’ Of Governors, Lawmakers To PDP

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 12:44 PM PDT

APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) responded on the claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that six Governors and twenty-seven National Assembly on its platform have concluded discussions to join the latter.

According to the APC, it was now clear that the PDP has assumed the role of comic relief ahead of the 2019 general elections.

National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, in a statement on Thursday, declared that Nigerians have rejected the PDP and all that it represents such as corruption, impunity, waste and greed.

"Hence, in the face of imminent 2019 defeat, the PDP has chosen to hide behind lies and false realities to save face", he wrote.

"While the PDP hallucinates on APC members' defection to the PDP, the APC is consolidating to go into the 2019 General Elections as a smarter, more united and stronger political fighting force.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria's former vice president has disclosed what will take place, should President Muhammadu Buhari refuse to leave office, after being defeated in 2019.

The former vice president, and a presidential hopeful on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated that, if President Buhari is defeated at the polls in 2019, he will have no choice than to handover.

Atiku said that any refusal to step aside and handover power peacefully will plunge the country into political crisis, a situation the President may not want.

He disclosed this while speaking on a short interview on Pulse TV, that;

"Buhari will have to leave power if he is voted out unless he wants to plunge this country into political crisis and I don't believe he'll want to do that.

"But so far, he has done badly as far as electoral processes are concerned because there have been serious breaches of fundamental electoral processes.

"I felt there was a need for someone like me who's experienced in politics; experienced in governance; experience in business to try and restore and bring back the country on track as far as economic development was concerned."

PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Wednesday reacted to the high cost of nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

"It encourages corruption and makes looting mandatory if their members ever won election into any of the offices. #corruptionwithoutlimits," he tweeted.

APC had yesterday said presidential aspirants would pay N45m, as against N55m fixed by the party last week.

In a statement by its spokesperson, Yekini Nabena, APC said, "Each presidential aspirant will pay N5m for expression of interest form and N40m for the nomination form."

BREAKING: President Buhari Sound Warning To Atiku

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 04:04 AM PDT

President Buhari and Atiku Abubakar

Aso Rock has reacted to a recent statement credited to Atiku Abubakar, one of PDP's Presidential aspirant,  where he described President Muhammadu Buhari as "power drunk."

According to the report, Atiku in response to Vice President Osinbajo on Restructuring, Atiku had described President Muhammadu Buhari as 'Power-Drunk'.

Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a swift response via a statement, however  agreed with Atiku that Buhari is uncompromising on his stance against corruption, he, although, disagreed with him that Mr. President is power drunk and not ready to leave power without a fight.

Speaking further, the presidential spokesman advised Atiku to borrow a leaf from the decorous language employed by Osinbajo, in response to his recent statement on the restructuring debate.

READ ALSO'I Will Develop The South-East Zone' - President Buhari

"That is the hallmark of statesmen and not crying wolf where none exists, which is what the allegation of being uncompromising and power drunk truly is."

"Rather than use the name of President Buhari to buoy his bid to get the presidential ticket of a party, whose flag has been flying at half-mast since it got roundly trounced at the polls in 2015, the former vice president needs be told that the president is truly uncompromising, but only when it comes to looting the common patrimony of Nigerians, and squandering their riches. President Buhari is uncompromising in the quest to restore probity and accountability to public office. He is uncompromising in cleaning the rot Nigeria was consigned into, pre-2015; thus the war against corruption is being fought without fear or favour.

"The president is equally resolute in the determination to ensure that Nigeria is no longer a mono-economy, depending only on oil.

"Yes, president Buhari is single-minded in effecting change in every area of the Nigerian life. So, Alhaji Abubakar is right, if that was what he meant by the president being "uncompromising. But power drunk? No! And being a man 'who will not be ready to leave power without a fight?' Never!

"Not President Buhari, who has demonstrated in many ways that he is a committed democrat, though also a retired military general. He has no apologies about that. Through a sterling military career, he served Nigeria with his heart and might, before venturing into partisan politics. In many ways, president Buhari has wielded power with decency, and, as a means of serving the people, rather than for personal ends. If there's one person not intoxicated by power, it is President Buhari, and scores of millions of Nigerians know this…"
