Fayose Meets Bail Conditions, Regains Freedom, Excoriate Cleric Over Comment On Tenure

Posted: 29 Oct 2018 11:31 PM PDT

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose (middle) after his release from detention… yesterday

Mr. Ayodele Fayose, the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, who had been in the custody of the EFCC, and was charged to court, yesterday regained his freedom after fulfilling the terms of his bail conditions.

He is expected to return for the continuation of his trial on November 19, 2018.

His spokesman, Lere Olayinka, shared the news on his Twitter handle, @OlayinkaLere.

It reads: "Fayose just regained his freedom. He left the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, a few minutes ago. We will meet @officialEFCC at the court from November 19. Thank you Nigerians."

Justice Mojisola Olatiregun had last week granted Fayose N50 million bail and ordered him to deposit his passport with the court as part of his bail conditions.

Meanwhile, Fayose has said that his tenure immensely benefitted the people of the state just as he advised the Anglican Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Rt. Rev. Christopher Omotunde, to remove his cassock and mount the soapbox so that the whole world would know that he has joined politics.

Omotunde had while delivering a sermon in Ado-Ekiti at the weekend described the tenure of Fayose as "four wasted years in which life became unbearable for the people and in which hunger ravaged the land without any concrete effort to alleviate people's poverty."

According to him, "the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had a golden chance to make a difference in the lives of Ekiti State residents but abused the opportunity to the extent that the people became slaves under them."

But Fayose, in his reply to the cleric through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, said only a cleric trying to justify the blatant rigging of the last Ekiti State governorship election by the All Progressives Congress (APC) would describe the physical transformation of Ekiti by the Fayose administration as a waste.

"Even the blind feels the good works of Fayose and perhaps Bishop Omotunde and the likes need to change their eye glasses to see well.

"The records of the Fayose administration are there for all to see. It organised an education summit that led to great improvement in education in the state. Ekiti State came first back-to-back in NECO exams and we also did well in WAEC. These are public institutions and the records are there for Omotunde to peruse.

"The Fayose administration built the first flyover in the state and it passes besides Omotunde's church. One wonders if the bishop closes his eyes whenever he drives or passes through that place. If he does not, we pray that God opens his spiritual eyes.

"The Fayose government built a new high court complex, a new Governor's Office, a new Oja'ba Market; dualised roads in Ise, Emure, Ikole, Omuo, Ijero and Efon," he said.

Adelusi then said Fayose does not owe the cleric any apology for criticising the obnoxious policies and indecisions of the President, which have brought untold suffering on Nigerians.

Buhari Speaks On His WAEC Certificate Controversy

Posted: 29 Oct 2018 10:59 PM PDT

President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) announcement that it is going to court to challenge his West African School Certificate (WASC).

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu,  said it was a waste of time because the record was available, as well as those of higher qualifications obtained by hard work and truly merited by Mr President.

In a statement he signed Monday night, he said: "This certificate story is an old one. As Femi Adesina stated clearly, it is a settled issue in the courts. To approach the court to pursue a matter long settled by the temple of justice is an abuse of the judicial system. It is shameful, disgusting and disgraceful.

"It is clear to all at this time that the PDP, facing an imminent humiliating defeat wants to sow division and chaos by seeking the destruction of the institutional structures that support our young democracy.

"They are attacking the courts and the police, they are molesting INEC commissioners. They are theatrical in spreading falsehoods against persons including the President.

"By doing these, they assume that they can take away attention from the discussions on issues gaining momentum in the country; the issue of internal security which has been jeopardized by years of near-zero investment under 16 years of the PDP; the provision of long-delayed infrastructure which the President is pioneering; corruption to which the PDP is incurably tied and the sustenance of the prevailing good days in the economy, a business-friendly government working day and night, creating more jobs and affordable life for the poor.

"This election isn't about the settled issues of certification. No matter how honeyed their sweet words, don't believe them.

"Their evil record can never be washed away. The PDP set a record of murdering opponents of government and corruption on a scale never seen anywhere before.

"They put the national security at stake by diverting huge budgetary allocations to service their greed. Don't believe their honeyed promises."

How Accurate Is Osinbajo’s Claim That Nigeria Debt Only Increased By $10 Billion Since Buhari Assumed Office?

Posted: 29 Oct 2018 10:28 PM PDT

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria Vice President

The Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has said that the nation's debt was $73 billion, a $10 billion increment from $63 billion the present administration inherited in 2015.

He made the disclosure in Ibadan on Saturday during the 9th Public Lecture of Sigma Club at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.

THE CLAIM:

"In 2010 our debt was $35 billion, $41 billion in 2011, $48 billion in 2012, $64 billion in 2013, $67.7 billion in 2014, $63.8 billion in 2015, $57.8 billion in 2016, $70 billion in 2017 and $73 billion in 2018.

"The nation's debt as at today was $73 billion, an increment of $10 billion from the $63 billion inherited in 2015,"

VERIFICATION OF CLAIM

According to the Debt Management Office, as at June 2015, The External Debt Stock of Federal Government and the 36 States stood at $10.316 Billion; Domestic Debt Stock (FGN Only) was $42.633 Billion and Domestic Debt of States was $10.856 Billion which gives a grand total public debt stock of $63.806 Billion

Also, according to the same document from Debt Management Office, the total public debt stock as at June 2018 stood at $73.207 Billion with breakdown as follows: federal Government and the 36 states owe $22.083 Billion, Domestic Debt (FGN Only) is $39.749 Billion and total Domestic Debt of States and the FCT stood at $11.374 Billion.

Further analysis of Nigeria Debt Stock also revealed that in 2012, Nigeria's debt stock was $48.496 Billion, in 2013, it was $64.509 Billion, in 2014, it was $67.726 Billion, In 2016, it stood at $57.391 Billion and as at December 31st 2017, the total debt stock was $70.999 Billion

These figures, according to the Debt Management Office substantiate same figures quoted by the Vice President where he said "In 2010 our debt was $35 billion, $41 billion in 2011, $48 billion in 2012, $64 billion in 2013, $67.7 billion in 2014, $63.8 billion in 2015, $57.8 billion in 2016, $70 billion in 2017 and $73 billion in 2018"

There was no available record on the Website of the Debt Management Office for 2010 and 2011, so it is difficult to verify the VP's debt figure of $35 and $41 billion for 2010 and 2011 respectively.

However, going by available data on public debt stock from 2012 till date, the total debt of the country in 2015 was $63.806 Billion and the current debt figure as at June 2018 stood at $73.207 Billion which is the same as the figure quoted by the vice president on Saturday.

Therefore, the claim by the vice president that this government has only increased the nation's debt stock by only $10 billion from $63 billion this present administration inherited in 2015 is TRUE.

BIAFRA: How I Escaped From Nigeria – Nnamdi Kanu

Posted: 29 Oct 2018 09:56 PM PDT

Nnamdi Kanu

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),  has spoken of how he managed to escape from Nigeria.

Mazi Kanu, who spoke in an interview with an Isreali TV Station posted on YouTube on Monday, said his relatives helped him out of the country.

"Nigerian Army came to my house to kill me," Mr Kanu said of the military exercise carried out in Abia State just before his disappearance.

"They killed 28 people in the process," he alleged.

"My people evacuated me before they could get to me and they smuggled me out of Nigeria. I would say, I 'm relieved that I managed to make it to the only place that I feel safe in the whole world."

Mr Kanu, who also has a British passport, claimed he would have loved to go to England but would not feel safe there.

The separatist leader, who by fleeing out of the country violated his bail conditions, claimed there were tens of millions of Igbo Jews in Nigeria who Israel must defend.

"Israel has to live up to their obligation to defend Judaism and Jewish faith all over the world," he said. "We are being persecuted. We are suffering as a people and I believe it is the responsibility of Israel to make sure that Biafra stands as an independent entity in Africa."

"Biafra has over 70 million people scattered all over the world . They have called us the wandering Jews of Africa. Those that identify themselves with their Jewish heritage are about 50 million people," he said.

When asked how the 'millions' of Nigerian Jews he said exists practice their religion, Mr Kanu said they practice Judaism in "terms of their prayers, in terms of the Torah that they read."

"A significant number of the population practise Judaism as we do in IPOB. When Christianity came with colonialism, a lot of our Jewish practices were suppressed. We were made to feel ashamed of our Jewishness. We want to go back to the way we were before the British came. Most of our problems were basically made by the British.

"We want an independent Jewish State, a Biafra that is absolutely independent of anything that has to do with Nigeria, for the simple reason that we were independent before the British came. There is a paranoia that, should Biafra get closer to Israel, 70 million people would somehow flock to the land of Israel, but that is not the case…"

"When I got to Nigeria in 2015, I was arrested and sued. I was asked to be freed twice in court. We are seeking Biafra, so we can get and return to Biafra."

Mr Kanu has been at the limelight demanding an independent Biafran country from the Nigerian state through referendum. He is facing charges of treasonable felony at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

He was arrested alongside three others on October 14, 2015 in Lagos and was granted bail by Justice Binta Nyako on April 25 on health grounds. The judge adjourned the matter to November.

The army and IPOB clashed before the adjourned date. The judge has since frowned at his disappearance and blamed his sureties for jumping bail.

HERDSMEN: Bishop Oyedepo Reveals Those That Sponsors Killer Herdsmen

Posted: 29 Oct 2018 03:28 PM PDT

Bishop David Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo, the Founder and Bishop of Living Faith Church (aka Winners Chapel), yesterday said the inability of the government to arrest killer herdsmen in some part of the Middle Belt zone was because the killers were agents of the government.

Speaking in Ota, Ogun State, at the Church's Sunday Service titled 'Covenant Day of Settlement and Thanksgiving', the clergyman stated that it was absurd for the government to fail in arresting some self-confessed killer herders in Jos, Plateau State, Daily Post reports.

Oyedepo said:

Help me ask them how many mosques have been destroyed by these people? You can also ask them how many of those who have destroyed the church has ever been caught? How many of the destroyed churches has government ever added a dime to rebuild?

"I have said it, let us remove the mask from the masquerade and nobody will fear it anymore. Government is part of this thing; you don't need to go to school to know that.

"If people claimed responsibilities to the killings in Jos and were not arrested, the question is who is to arrest them? Is it the citizens or government? It's the government, but they cannot arrest them because they are their agents."

While stating that every leader is a caretaker and God remains the creator and owner of every nation, including Nigeria, he added that Nigeria would have peace when they understand that God is in control of everything, including the land.

"When a caretaker starts behaving like a landlord he will be removed. God is the permanent landlord of the earth.

"Too many arrogant foes who pose to own this nation, be warned because the day of God's judgement is here.

"Those who sponsor and perpetrate killings and also offer covering for killers to keep killing, God will lead them to rest. God will give us peace in this country by all means.

"God enthrones kings and removes kings," he said.

2019 PRESIDENCY: What God Told Me Concerning Buhari & Atiku – Prophet Olagunju

Posted: 29 Oct 2018 03:00 PM PDT

Prophet Wale Olagunju

"Buhari does not need an Alfa or prophet to deceive him that he would win the election, for as God lives, he would lose…"

As the political parties prepare for the 2019 elections, the Presiding Bishop, Divine Seed of God Chapel Ministries, Ibadan, Prophet Wale Olagunju, who had prophesied the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the PDP presidential candidate, as well as his reconciliation with former President Olusegun Obasanjo that all came to pass has again predicted that no force could save President Muhammadu Buhari from defeat at next year's election.

He also gave an insight into the choice of former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, saying that Senator Ike Ekweremadu was a better choice made by God.

You once predicted that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is in the mindset of God to emerge as Nigeria's president in 2019, now that he has won the ticket of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), what should Nigerians expect since a keen contest is eminent between the incumbent and Atiku?

Let me congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari for winning the ticket of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and let me also make it clear to him that he will lose to Atiku Abubakar.

Let me also congratulate Atiku in advance because he will win the next presidential election come 2019. Let me say, as a matter of fact, that Buhari does not need an Alfa or prophet to deceive him that he would win the election, for as God lives, he would lose. What the present President of Nigeria and the ruling party would rely on to have their from Buhari. You remember I predicted the return of notable APC members back to their former home, to be frank, big guns in APC will soon decamp and begin to campaign for Atiku. It is then that Buhari and the so-called APC will realize that the party is as good as dead.

With Prof Yemi Osinbajo, a Christian pastor running with President Buhari for the second term and considering the Yoruba and religious factor, do you think Nigerians will vote for Atiku, who just as you predicted, has picked an Igbo running mate?
First and foremost, I am highly disappointed in Yemi Osinbajo. He has failed God and the entire Christendom; he ought to have resigned by now because to me, his integrity as a pastor is in doubt. He is in a government where they are killing his Christian brothers on daily basis and he sat there, folding his arms. With Osinbajo or not, Buhari is destined to lose the 2019 presidential election. To be clear, Buhari is on his way to Daura come 2019. I can confirm that the Yoruba will not vote for Buhari, but for Atiku and let me say this that only a mature son of the devil pastor will support Buhari. Let Buhari assemble his hungry Alfas and pastors to pray for way is rigging, just as it happened in Ekiti and Osun states recently. It is very obvious that they will rely on rigging, but as revealed to me by Almighty God, I want to assure Nigerians that they will fail. To be precise, Buhari will not be the president to be sworn in, come May 29 2019.

In your 2018 prediction you said that former President Obasanjo would forgive and throw his weight behind the ambition of Atiku Abubakar for the presidency in 2019. Events in the last two weeks have confirmed this, is there anything bigger for Nigerians as regards the 2019 presidential election? Nigerians and the world at large would want to know what further message you have from God?

With Obasanjo's endorsement of Atiku as a better candidate than Buhari, he has fulfilled all biblical righteousness by forgiving Atiku as required by God. Obasanjo congratulated Atiku for winning the ticket of his party. So, I am standing on my prediction that, he will not only forgive Atiku, but will also support and throw his weight behind him to win the election. I affirm, with the blessing of Obasanjo now, that the coast is clear for Atiku to take over him, as God of heaven lives, they will fail. That is just the message from the Almighty God.

In your 51-point prophecy released for 2018, you prophesied that only an Atiku/Ekweremadu ticket would be strong enough to unseat Buhari. With the look of things, particularly with the selection of ex-governor Peter Obi as Atiku running mate, are you still certain of victory for the PDP candidate?
Yes. Victory is certain for Atiku. Peter Obi is not better than Ekweremadu. In the sight of God, Ekweremadu is better than Obi. We are all witnesses to the fact that controversy trailed the nomination of Peter Obi. The fact of the case is this; you will discover that the APC-led Federal Government is waging a serious war against Ekweremadu, so that is why, to my mind; the PDP leadership decided to pick Obi.

Based on your prediction, now that the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has left office, what fate do you think may befall him?
First and foremost, I stand by my prediction. May be by now, Fayose would have realized that nothing, including position of authority is permanent except God. What I said in my prophecy was that Fayemi- led government in conjunction with the Federal Government would deal with him and ground him politically, so I still stand by that.

You predicted the rejection of Goodluck Jonathan by God as well as the coming of Buhari and these came to pass. You also predicted in 2017 that God has rejected Buhari because he has disappointed God and that Atiku is on his way to power and also that people will root for him; this is also on its way to fulfillment, what is the source of your power?
To God be the glory, the source of my power is from the Almighty God, who created heaven and the earth. I return all glory to His Majesty.

With a particular reference to Oyo State, what would the governorship election look like across the country, especially in the Southwest, a zone believed to be the strong hold of the ruling party?
Let us talk about Oyo State. In the previous revelations, God revealed Seyi Makinde to me, but he needs aggressive prayer to truly emerge victorious. Apart from that, the Lord revealed to me that Seyi Makinde is a stubborn leader who still needs to mend his ways before coming to power. I thank God that the PDP did not choose a wrong presidential candidate.

With Atiku on board, notable Nigerians in APC who are yet to decamp will do so and throw their full support for the man after God's heart. Let Atiku begin his campaign, you will quickly notice that the APC leadership will realize that the table has turned in favour of Atiku and his name will continue to ring bell until he gets to power, but Nigerians should pray for him now that the Lord should spare his live.

Shaku-Shaku : Osinbajo Lampooned By Peter Obi, Murray-Bruce

Posted: 29 Oct 2018 02:27 PM PDT

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President, Nigeria

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN,  Vice President has been put to task for placing shaku-shaku dance rehearsals as a priority at a time his government has reportedly helped Nigeria become the poverty capital of the world.

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP vice-presidential candidate, Peter Obi and Senator Ben Murray-Bruce threw the challenge in response to reports quoting the vice-president as saying that he was set to learn the in-style dancing steps, Shaku-Shaku ahead of the forthcoming election.

Speaking at a book launch in Abuja at the weekend, Osinbajo had noted how a politician garnered votes through his dance steps and intimated that he was set to follow suit.

"I can never forget my dear friend in one of the states who just danced his way through the campaigns; all he did was dance; he did nothing else but dance and he won 250,000 votes.

"So myself and Kabir are now learning Shaku Shaku; we have to learn; who knows what will win," he said.

Obi while speaking with reporters after returning from Dubai where he interfaced with PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and other party strategists, said that for the Atiku team, what was paramount was "spending our time with the best minds on how to start creating jobs and putting food on people's table and not learning how to dance Shaku Shaku".
According to Peter Obi, "I know Vice President Osibanjo is a gentleman and may not have made such a comment. However, why I am not against people dancing or learning how to dance "Shaku Shaku", as I believe it is one of those things that is keeping our people going on in these very difficult times, I believe that the crossroads that we have found ourselves in as a nation requires sober reflection.

"For me in particular, this period calls for sober reflection not dancing or learning how to dance as there are many challenges facing our nation at the moment. Not the least being recently having our country named the world headquarters of extreme poverty with over eighty seven million people. Worse still, millions more are losing their jobs, with four million by the third quarter of this year alone.

"Millions of Nigerians go to bed hungry not knowing where the meal for the next day will come from, hundreds of thousands risk death by crossing the Sahara and the Mediterranean Sea to wherever they can make a living.

"These and other challenges are indicative of the dire straits facing us as a nation today. And these are what we on the Atiku team are spending our time with the best minds on how to start creating jobs and putting food on people's table. We must get Nigeria to start working again for the good of everyone," the former governor stated.

Senator Murray-Bruce in a tweet said it was incongruous that the vice-president would be devoting his priority to dancing when his government had forced the country into negative financial indicators.

The Bayelsa Senator in a tweet on his twitter handle on Monday morning said:

"Under your watch, 11 million jobs created by other administrations have been lost, Naira has lost 80% of her value and Nigeria has been named the world headquarters for extreme poverty, yet @ProfOsinbajo's priority is learning 'shaku shaku' dance? I would laugh if I wasn't so sad."

The vice-president's spokesman, Laolu Akande did not answer his phone when Vanguard sought his response on the issue yesterday and neither did he respond to a text message on the issue sent to him.

BIAFRA: Buhari Is Dead – IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu Explodes In New Broadcast

Posted: 29 Oct 2018 10:16 AM PDT

Nnamdi Kanu and President Buhari

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, says President Muhammadu Buhari is dead, adding that the Nigerian leader has already been buried in Saudi Arabia.

Kanu, who recently surfaced in Israel and has been vocal lately, lambasted those against Biafra in a new audio released on Sunday.

He said: "Cowards run away when they see us. Some people were writing a lot of junks about us. That I was in London and we were just on Facebook.

"I arrived in the zoo on the 14th of October in the year of our Lord 2015. I told them I was coming and I came. They dared me to come back and I did.

"When I arrived, I was taken to Abuja, I was confined to a very tiny space, I was chained like common criminal, I was handcuffed. They tried to break me but they know it was impossible, they can attest to it.

"They mocked me that I will rot in jail, some prayed very fervently, those against Biafra. The walls of prison and detention couldn't keep me.

"I told Buhari before he died and was buried in Saudi Arabia that he was a madman. I called him a madman in his court.

"I told the court they cannot jail me and they did not. I called the dead Buhari an illiterate madman in his own court and I walked away

"I cannot recall anybody being able to do so in the history of the dumbnable (sic) zoological republic.

"With very few and notable exceptions. Men like Femi Fani-Kayode and ex governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose. The two men I respect very much from the west.

"There is no other human being that has been able to rise up against the murderous tendency of Buhari.

"Buhari died because he dared to touch me. And I must warn every body, especially those who dare to touch me, that what happened to Buhari will happen to them."

Delta Accountant General Who Is 'Richer Than State Governors'Arrested By Presidential Panel

Posted: 29 Oct 2018 09:31 AM PDT

Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla (SPIPRPP)

The Okoi Obono-Obla led Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIPRPP) has arrested the Delta State Accountant General, Mr. Cyril Agbele, for allegedly amassing wealth and assets corruptly, worth over N7 billion, SaharaReporters has reliably learned.

Our correspondent learnt that following a petition of corruptly amassing wealth and assets worth over N7 billion located in Delta state, Newcastle (UK), USA and other parts of the World, Agbele was arrested Thursday morning in Asaba, the state capital by officials of the panel and taken to Abuja for questioning.

According to sources in the office of the embattled Accountant-General, he was arrested based on a series of petitions written against him over his flamboyant wealth and assets scattered all over the state and across the globe.

A source told SaharaReporters: "The state Accountant General, Mr. Cy Agbele, is richer than some state governors both in wealth and assets. CY has always amassed wealth through frivolous means, which he uses to loot the state treasury. CY has committed a lot of financial crimes that if properly investigated this time around, he will rot in jail. How many times has the EFCC arrested him over corruption and financial crimes? But he will always find his way out of the hook with his money."

Speaking to our correspondent, an official of the panel who didn't want his name mentioned, said the arrest of the the state Accountant General is not unconnected to his involvement in money laundering, extortion and gross abuse of his office, especially "the corrupt manner he amassed wealth and properties across board."

"We have a petition that Mr. Cyril Agbele is pilfering funds from the state treasury using his office as the Accountant General of the state to siphons money," the official stated.

That he has a number of companies he uses to obtain millions of naira contracts and approve funds for himself while he forced other contractor to pay him as much as 13 percent in cash as kickbacks directly to him before processing their payment even after the governor's approval.

"The petition also alleged that the Accountant General has multimillion naira properties scattered all over Delta state, Newcastle (UK), and the USA. This includes hotels, schools, fast food joints, filling stations and countless numbers of exotic cars. That recently, some cash he stashed in a safe in excess of N500 million in local and foreign currencies where a $1,000 was carted away by his house maid, a Tiv indigene who conspired with the Accountant-General's wife brother named Frank Ugo."

SaharaReporters reliably learned among other things that the state Accountant General remits to his private bank accounts, VAT and taxes paid by contractors to the Federal government through him, and forgery of Delta state tax documents for politicians and contractors among others.

It was gathered that Mr. Agbele, who has been granted bail is expected back next week for more questioning where he will be charged to court at the end of investigation.

Reacting to the arrest of the Accountant General, a director in the state Ministry of Finance noted that Agbele is a billionaire who is known for corrupt and sharp practices, for conniving with some civil servants in his office to loot the state treasury.

"No civil servant in the entire Delta state since creation of the state is as wealthy as the Accountant General. That man is swimming in money. He takes his wife and children and few family members on holidays every summer season. Few years ago, the sum of $15,000 was found with his son, who is schooling in Infant Jesus (a secondary school in Asaba). Mr. Agbele was called immediately, on arrival, he took the money back from his son immediately."

Calls and messages put to Agbele were rebuffed but when contacted, the Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIPRPP), Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla, confirmed the arrest, saying: "Yes he was invited for questioning yesterday, (Thursday) by the panel over the allegation contained in a petition we received that he has amassed huge assets that are above his legitimate earnings as a civil servant. He was released on bail."

PDP Again, Woos Ambode, Other APC Members

Posted: 29 Oct 2018 06:37 AM PDT

Gov. Akinwumi Ambode, Lagos State Governor                             Photo Credit: PM News

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos has reached out to members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join what they describe as the struggle to free the state from one-man leadership.

The party said the APC members should join the "free Lagos train" to be recorded as true progressives that returned the governance of the state to the people.

The PDP's entreaty was premised on the inability of some members of the APC to get the party's ticket to contest in the 2019 elections.

Spokesman of the PDP, Mr Taofiq Gani, in a statement said aggrieved members should be bold enough to dump the APC, adding that they should emulate their members in Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna, Imo, among others.

The PDP noted that such aggrieved members of the ruling party were in all the senatorial districts of the state, claiming that some of them were denied second term ticket for no just cause.

Governor Ambode leads the pack of APC members who could not get return tickets. The PDP had consistently expressed its readiness to receive Ambode if he chose to dump the APC.

The opposition party's statement said: "To be fair to some persons in the Lagos APC, they have not done badly to warrant the disgrace of being denied another term. In order words, the APC rather sees them as being without any value.

"Such individuals are invited to assert their relevance in their voting areas by supporting candidates against the APC. This is a common struggle this time to free Lagos."
