President Muhammadu Buhari, Tuesday met behind closed-doors with State Governors from the South-South geopolitical zones, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Four out of the six Governors of the zone were present in the meeting which lasted about one hour. The other Governors included Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, Siriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

They were reluctant to talk to State House correspondents afterwards, but in a brief answer to the reason behind their meeting at the Presidential Villa, Governor of Bayelsa State, Siriake Dickson who spoke on behalf of others simply said, "My colleagues and I came to have audience with the President, to discuss issues pertinent to our country and also pertinent to our respective states.

"We had a robust and fruitful discussion with the president and he promised to look into it in anyway possible."

It is believed the Supreme Court verdict on the oil-bearing states of the Niger Delta on October 24, was discussed, Daily Post reports.

Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom states had approached the Supreme Court for the interpretation of Section 16(1) of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contract Act in suit number SC964/2016 filed on their behalf by their lead Counsel, Lucius Nwosu.

The seven-man panel of the Supreme Court, which included the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Walter Onnoghen, in a unanimous ruling, ordered that the 13% derivation that is due to the oil producing states be paid upon recovery, in accordance with Section 162 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Justice John Okoro, delivering the judgement, mandated the federal government to embark on an upward adjustment of the shares of revenues accruing to the government, whenever the price of crude oil exceeds $20 per barrel.

President Buhari and Alhaji Atiku

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has endorsed the candidacy of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for the 2019 election.

In an interview with Newsmen over the weekend, the President of AYCF, Yerima Shettima explained that the emergence of Abubakar as a presidential candidate of the PDP was a good thing for Nigeria.

Shettima stressed that the former Vice President should emerge victorious in 2019 because the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has failed Nigerians.

He vowed to ensure that the current All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration does not stay in office beyond 2019.

Shettima said, "For us in AYCF, we have said it over and over that Buhari's administration has failed Nigerians and we have passed vote of no confidence on the current administration before now, and to that effect we can't trust this administration anymore.

We are saying that we demand a total new order and for us, the emergence of Atiku is a good thing for Nigeria and we have to look towards that direction.

"I will canvass other ethnic nationalities and groups to ensure that the tenure of this administration comes to an end.

"We will ensure that Buhari's administration does not exceed beyond 2019, we will vote them out."

2019 Election: Shehu Sani Talks About Senator Abba Ibrahim’s Claim That Buhari Will Lose Election

Posted: 30 Oct 2018 09:14 AM PDT

Senator Shehu Sani has defended his colleague and former fellow party member Senator Bukkar Abba Ibrahim (APC Yobe Central) on comment that President Muhammadu Buhari will be voted against in the North East come 2019.

Ibrahim, who is one of the front-line politicians and chieftains of the APC from the zone, was quoted in Abuja at the weekend, as saying that even massive rigging may not save Buhari from the imminent defeat.

The former Yobe State Governor was said to have made the comment during the world-wide Internet Launch of his book 'Poorlitics' and 70th Birthday celebration.

Ibrahim has since denied the newspapers reports. He claimed to have been quoted out of contest.

But reacting, Sani who recently dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, said Nigerians should "stop heckling or throwing stones on Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim."

According to Sani, "He [Ibrahim] is just a meteorologist.

"All you need to do is to mind the weather and appreciate his forecast."
