| Davido appreciates fans as “Fem” hits over 5 million views Posted: 18 Sep 2020 01:00 AM PDT  Famous Nigerian singer and music executive, Davido has appreciated his fans after his latest song "FEM" got over 5 million views on YouTube.Davido dropped "fem" after staying away from social media for over 3 months and is now excited as the song already has 5 million views within one week of its release.The singer has also assured his fans that he is working on more music projects dropping soon off his anticipated "A Better Time" album.He posted the song cover on Instagram yesterday, September 15 l, and wrote… "5 million + views on fem n in under a week Thanks to everyone that has supported this come back !! More doings on the way".  In another news, Davido has congratulated DJ Cuppy and her siblings after their billionaire dad, Femi Otedola bought them a brand new Ferrari car each.  |

| Rapper, CDQ – “Nigerian Hip-Hop Died When DaGrin Died” Posted: 17 Sep 2020 11:30 PM PDT  Nigerian rapper, CDQ has claimed that Nigerian Hip-Hop followed late DaGrin to the grave. "Nigerian Hip-Hop died when DaDrin died", he said in new interview.The rapper made this claim while speaking on the first episode of Henessy's Hip-Hop Docu-series, "The Conversation".CDQ alongside M.I Abaga, Vector and DJ Jimmy Jatt shared their respective opinions on the evolution of Hip Hop in Nigeria.According to CDQ, since Dagrin's untimely death, Hip Hop has never been the same again in Nigeria. For CDQ, the late rapper was the only Nigerian artiste in his own opinion who stayed true to the hip hop genre of music.  Flashback: DaGrin died April 22, 2010 at the age of 22. However, the late rapper is still held in high esteem due to his unique style of rap music. In the early hours of April 14, 2010 he had been involved in a lone accident, colliding with a stationary articulated vehicle in front of Alakara Police Station, off Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos. Prior to his death, he had first been treated at Tai Solarin Hospital, Mushin but was later transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi Araba, where doctors declared him dead after efforts to save his life failed. Although DaGrin is 10 years gone, his style of indigenous rap is still influencing the Nigerian music scene. Artistes like Olamide, lil Kesh, Phyno, Reminisce and many others are some of the best examples of Dagrin's influence on the Nigerian music scene. Watch video below:  |

| Star Wars Actor, John Boyega part ways with London cosmetics brand, Jo Malone Posted: 17 Sep 2020 09:00 AM PDT  Nigerian-born British actor, and Star Wars cast, John Boyega has ended his ambassadorial deal with London cosmetics brand, Jo Malone, after being cut out of an advert he conceived, directed and starred in for the Chinese market.Boyega was replaced by Liu Haoran after the commercial was recast and reshot for the Chinese market. The original advert, London Gent, which was released last year featured Boyega walking around Peckham, south London, riding a horse, dancing with friends and hanging out with his family. The original cast was multicultural, while the Chinese remake featured no black cast members.Reacting to the development which many have described as systemic racism, John Boyega disclosed that it was done without his consent. He added that it will be dealt with swiftly as he "doesn't have time for nonsense."The actor tweeted; I have decided to step down as Jo Malone's global ambassador. When I joined the brand as their first male global ambassador last year, I created the short film we used to launch the campaign. It won the Fragrance Foundation Virtual awards 2020 for Best Media Campaign. Their decision to replace my campaign in China by using my concepts and substituting a local brand ambassador for me, without either my consent or prior notice, was wrong. The film celebrated my personal story– showcasing my hometown, including my friends and featuring my family. While many brands understandably use a variety of global and local ambassadors , dismissively trading out one's culture this way is not something I can condone. It's back to back but I assure you this will be dealt with swiftly. I don't have time for nonsense. We press on and strong. Stay blessed people  According to the Hollywood Reporter, Boyega was not made aware of the recasting of the ad and only found out about it on Twitter. Reacting to Boyega's decision of severing ties on Twitter, Jo Malone tweeted; John Boyega is an incredible talent, artist and person and we were proud to have him as part of our Jo Malone London family. We respect John's decision and we wish him all the best. It is not the first time Boyega has been erased from Chinese marketing materials. In 2015, Chinese posters for Star Wars: The Force Awakens sparked controversy after fans spotted that Boyega's character Finn had been significantly reduced in size from the original poster. Earlier this month, the actor spoke out about the systemic racism he experienced during his time in Star Wars. He told GQ; "What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. "I'm the only cast member who had their own unique experience of that franchise based on their race … it makes you angry with a process like that," he added, referencing the racist Twitter campaign to boycott the franchise based on his casting.  |

He is a Nigerian, ophthalmologist born on the 10th of July 1896.He attended Methodist Boys' High School Lagos, and studied Pharmacy at the Yaba Higher College. | Mompha shares regrets about returning to Nigeria Posted: 17 Sep 2020 04:30 AM PDT  Dubai-based Nigerian businessman, Mompha has shared his regret of returning to Nigeria which he described as a "disaster".In a post he shared via his Instastory, Mompha who has an ongoing court case centered on money laundering expressed hope of all his challenges becoming a thing of the past.He wrote; "2 years ago when you dont knw coming to ur own country will be a disaster. Surely it will all come to past"Recall that Mompha was rearrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over charges of money laundering.He was at the office to reclaim his five wristwatches, one Apple Air pod, one iPhone 8 mobile phones and one pair of sunglasses seized from him by the anti-graft agency. Following an application by his lawyer, Mr Gboyega Oyewole (SAN), Justice Mohammed Liman on July 24 ordered the EFCC to release the items to Mompha. The judge ruled since the items were not listed as exhibits in the money laundering charges filed against Mompha, the EFCC had no justification to continue to hold onto them.   |
